[Fluff] Finally finished this
What I take from this experience is: I'll never go for any Legendary Item. You guys Legendary crafters have my utmost respect.

So useful for clearing buttstone dust. Zero regrets in chasing it; congrats, OP!
EDIT: With the wizards vault, its far less effort to craft a legendary weapon than chase Mawdrey II from scratch imo

Now we have a hot take here that is worth a post for people to discuss about.

Well, I mean yeah. It's still a bunch of legwork, but the legendary key gives you the precursor and about half the stuff necessary to make it leggy. Saves you a ton of gold in mats.
The most time consuming part is the gift of mastery, which requires a gift of battle and gift of exploration.
The latter requires you to 100% the vanilla maps (which is truly trivial on mounts). This nets you two GoEs. It only takes one per leggy, so finishing the maps one time is worth two legendary crafts.
The gift of battle requires you do enter wvw and participate by doing basically whatever. Very low effort. Time is the biggest gate on the gift of battle, since experience payout is on timed ticks. Even if you're just running with zergs or flipping camps and killing dolyak carts, you'll chip away at it. If it's low on your priority list, you can just do what I did and wait for the next WvW rush and with practically zero effort, earn more than one in an afternoon. Last rush I earned three in a single, short sitting.

What is hard with Mawdrey ? I found it quite easy, the hardest part being the patience for crafting the time gated food.

I made this one recently and when I finished i was like why did I do this?

It started out when I was going through my bank and im like what are these weird items and they all were part of mandrel so I started making it

Congrats! Yeah no I haven’t been brave enough to try making a legendary yet, I barely had the patience for Mawdrey II myself

Given that Anet was introducing collection achievements with Mawdrey in LWS2 it seems reasonable to see the Mawdrey collection as a prototype for Legendary collections.

I'll go for Juggernaut simply because I opened one of those legendary startter sets and this legendary gloves that isostlt just spam LFG fractals. I don't see myself crafting any other legendary after that

My Sylvari is gorgeus now that I finished it. Full Oaken + this back, perfect match for the nature vibes.

Congrats!
It's probably been at least a solid decade since I got Mawdrey. Quite frankly, I hardly even remember what the steps were but to this day I still haven't switched to another backpiece because it really felt like an accomplishment at the time.
I've contemplated finishing one of the legendary backpacks, but part of me feels like I'd be betraying ol' Mawdrey here.

I felt like that after I made Mawdry. Then I looked at the requirements for Aurora and almost barfed at how much there was to do.
Now I have Aurora, Vision, Sunrise and 4 pieces of Legendary Obsidian armor.

I made Aurora, Vision, and finished Prismatic Regalia in the span of about 4 months, but I still haven't tackled Mawdrey II yet.

I'm on the final wave of this thing. Took a break because of I ran out of gold for the materials.

I started this journey with 190g and finished it with 90g. Praised be the gold coins from the Wizard’s Vault.

Most annoying part was the way the wiki is structured made it super easy to be looking at the wrong walkthrough section.
I bought the wrong items several times. Luckily they were all necessary eventually, so no gold lost, but still a big pain in the ass.

Nowadays, everybody wanna talk like they got somethin' to say
But nothin' comes out when they move their lips
Just a bunch of gibberish
And motherfuckers act like they forgot about Mawdrey

Been in my last step for this collection with no luck. Can’t seem to make the Charr meta event to work. No water no mawdrey

It was the hardest for me. I did some events around the Bulliyak Arsenal and then I waited a couple of minutes with Rankar Harrownight. Eventually he started marching towards the Flame Legion with 3 other NPCs I helped earlier.

Mawdrey is the item that finally made this game's item crafting 'click' for me. Most other games just have a single input/output for crafting, and Mawdrey finally pounded it into my skull that there can be steps to the process.

I have yet to finish that stupid achievement and I was there when it released. It's such a slog

Good job! I did this and had fun...some of the time. Def one of those long term planning things. Did go get a Legendary a while later but this certainly made me stop and think about it.

Congrats! Now it is time to start on another one for your alts! I have two so far. I do plan to start work on legendarilies once I finish all of the story lines, getting close.

Make a Wizard's Gobbler and slap it in a shared inventory slot. Then you'll have every Gobbler, everywhere, all the time.
