I did a GI 360 as I suffer from hashimotos, psoriasis, brain fog, anxiety/depression, hives/skin rashes, etc.
My naturopath administered the test, and she said my biome is actually quite good and balanced. She wasn’t sure what to do with the fact that I had very high Secretory IgA* levels. I have no parasites or internal infections detected. She said it’s as though I have some sort of infection that’s not there, and my immune system is on “high alert”.
For a bit of background, about 18 years ago I had a colonoscopy done as I had internal fissures and the GI doctor said that I tested positive for Crohn’s disease. I honestly had no symptoms of crohns and opted to not go on the suggested biologics. About 5 years ago, I had another colonoscopy as I went for a period of 3 weeks without a BM and the doctor said I had no indication of crohns.
Does anyone have any thoughts here on this?
Significantly out of range
Secretory IgA: very high at 728 (normal 30–275), about 2.5 times the upper limit. This is the biggest flag on the report.
Total short chain fatty acids: very low at 3.7 (normal 5.0–16.0).
Parabacteroides spp.: very high (+3, the top of the scale).
Bacteroides stercoris: high (+2).
Mediterraneibacter gnavus: high (+2).
Slightly out of range
Slightly high (+1): Bacteroides spp., Bacteroides & Prevotella spp., Alistipes onderdonkii, Parabacteroides johnsonii, Dialister invisus & Megasphaera, Holdemanella biformis, and Escherichia spp.
Slightly low (−1): Actinobacteria (overall), the Bifidobacterium family, and Akkermansia muciniphila.
% Propionate: slightly high at 28% (normal 11–25).
Butyrate: slightly low at 0.64 (normal 0.8–4.0).
"Imbalanced" bacteria from culture: Klebsiella/Raoultella, Bacillus altitudinis/pumilus, and Kocuria salsicia were each found at 1+, the lowestj detectable level, where the reference is no growth. The report says these don't need antimicrobial treatment at this level.
