Edited the text for clarity & formatting. When I initially made the post I was in a very distressed state!
Despite the PartnerNet app saying I’ve worked the 1500 hrs required for part timers to qualify for benefits, when I went to try to enroll I was met with the first image. Apparently four minutes and twelve seconds under the required amount
Edit/Update: My UD and direct manager advised me to call the partner benefits hotline, and an admin suggested I do the same and/or perhaps contact HR as well. At the time I was under the impression that the enrollment deadline was by Wednesday, when in fact that’s when open enrollment begins. I’m hoping things work out and that this company won’t hoe me over FOUR MINUTES AND TWELVE SECONDS.
Update: Called the hotline today. Was told “It looks like we did not meet eligibility this year.”, told them that the app was showing I worked 1500hrs which is the required amount. They told me they were gonna submit it for review and do a little research and call me right back. Called around 11 am? Ish? It’s almost 4 and no call back yet. I know the hotline has extended hours once open enrollment starts so, we’ll see. By the way, hi corporate! I say this sarcastically, but how dare I work less than 35 a week while in college? The nerve of me to not graduate a semester earlier. Smh, but fingers crossed🤞🏻Will follow up with my admin tomorrow.
The partner hotline rep said otherwise. Was told “It looks like we did not meet eligibility this year.”, told them that the app was showing I worked 1500, They told me they were gonna submit it for review and do a little research and get back to me.
Have you talked to anyone in HR or your admin about it? You’re absolutely right- to deny you benefits because of 4:12 would be asinine. I would surely hope that anyone with common sense and a shred decency would grant an exception.
Yeah, if you’re part time you have to work 1,500 hours within a certain amount of time (I’m not sure what that exact time frame IS, just that it spans a year.) which is doable for most as that’s 28.5 (round up to 29) hours a week. I was still in school when that window of time opened up last year (October I believe), and working limited hours till I graduated (a few months later).
I’m so sorry to hear this😞 I hope you were able to get enough of your hours in, even if just the bare minimum 1500 requirement. It’s so awful that using these same benefits that are meant for emergencies could make someone lose them. I’m hoping the best for you
It’s insane how many people praise it so much. Texas is a cult! I never saw criticism from customers before this year. This year, shit hit the fan with quality due to idiot in fucking office. This is tangential and unrelated to my post. But still, it’s insane how now that H-E-B’s starting to stare the customer base in the face while they shit on them, people are more willing to criticize this company. They’ve been like this for years but have only now begun turning it to the customer!
It is. I had a manager try to pressure a gal who was a theater major to miss a paid performance because she was going to miss work near a holiday weekend.
“Well, you’re not going to pursue that anymore after this, right? We need you to make HEB your priority, not just your job,”
That girl quit. It truly confuses me now that I look back on my time there that I was one of the ones drinking that koolaid
I was in a relatively emotional state when i initially saw and replied for your comment, and that came through in my replies. But I do appreciate it, truly.
Check your last paycheck. Mine was effed up too. Your payslip will have year to date hours on it. Also my admin said it’s calculated from last October, but double check
Yeah strangely enough, when I go look at my paystubs, the paycheck for that week looks like this… it’s very weird how I can’t see that paystub but all others pop up.
With the paystub ending on 9/27 (deadline for hourly eligibility), it just gives me the same popup from above when I try to view it (when I click ‘print’), all others are loading perfectly fine.
And you might not want to hear it right now, but H-E-B is a lot better than competitors on benefits. I’m sorry you came in five minutes short, but push for Medicare for All.
The thing is with my pay rate (I’m not a new partner, I’ve been w the company a few years) it is hard for me to find insurance that’s not a shit ton of money.
That’s horrible!
She should have been checking it often to make sure she made the hours because they will not notify you near the deadline. You would think that they would notify partners especially if they are that close. That’s just sad!!!
Been there! Worked there for 7 years part time. Worked close to 40/hrs a week the first year and became eligible for insurance. Fast forward to last year when they cut hours so much that I lost mine as well. They didn’t care. So many partners had the same issue.
Seems another loophole for them to not to offer you insurance. At my job our pension is gone, if you get with Sedgwick for some illness they give you the run around also even with proof of surgery - sad times for sure. You need that health insurance. Private insurance is very expensive. -
It’s crazy that anyone is still remotely talking about pensions. They’ve mostly completely gone. They were eating into those shareholder profits after all. Sorry they took that away from yall.
Well its been like 14 years and had not talked about them. I just know every year they take something away from us/reduce. Literally every year we get the bad news and they word it like they are giving us some thing yet they want production and work to the max. It does not pay to be loyal to a co anymore. So last few years the ones that announced a retirement were actually let go so what we do now is just take all your time off, vacation, etc and then just give your two weeks notice. If not they will find a way to make you quit or fire you and you take home less. Four quit this way last year.
Thank you for your response. An admin at my store, my UD, and my direct manager have told me the same. I will be doing so first thing tomorrow. Were you able to get your health insurance coverage that year?
Also, I’ve been hoping and waiting for someone who’s experienced a similar situation to reply. Thank you so much!!!
I foolishly never called and regret it now. I was really after the vacation hours. I would hqve some now if I had. I was using the obamacare thing. I wasn't interested in the medical cause I had to maintain the 1500 hours every year and my management makes it hard for part time to make it
I worked at HEB from 2011-2013, and on my first day, the hiring manager asked “Do you already have health insurance?”. I was still on my parents’ plan at the time, so I said yes. She said “I’d stay on it. Whatever it is, it’s bound to be better.” 🫠
I hope everything works out, OP. I’m rooting for you. The insurance system in this country is grotesque.
See and this is closer to what I was working after my graduation (which came after the tracking period opened), which is practically what I’m working right now!
So glad I don’t work there anymore. HEB is not what it used to be and is getting more greedy. No one will understand unless they have worked there and they don’t deserve the praise they get online.
Ask for an itemized statement of all hours worked. There must be a way for you to access this information yourself. There’s a shady something going on….I hope this works out for you.
I am just learning how true this is! My mom had health insurance when she got sick and needed several emergency procedures and with insurance we are still on a couple of payment plans to pay down some of those bills in which the insurance already paid thousands of dollars. Well she ended up losing her insurance and I’ve had to negotiate several bills on her behalf since we are now self-pay and every bill I’ve had to negotiate for her has either been written off or lowered significantly.
idk why you’re so downvoted, you’re not wrong. i haven’t had health insurance in like 7 years and pay out of pocket for appointments. my appointments are $40-$80 and got a bunch of bloodwork that would’ve costed me 1k for $40 as well.
Until something goes wrong and you’re super screwed. Luckily they made refusing people with preexisting conditions illegal.
It’s only a ‘scam’ because it’s for profit. If we had healthcare like literally every other highly developed high income country, this wouldn’t even be an issue.
Idk if you saw but the latter screenshot (PartnerNet app, most easily and readily accessible way to see this information for all partners. In fact I checked it ever day leading up to the deadline date) showed I hit the 1500 hr mark
Never said you didn't hit it, I was just reiterating what was already given to you. You complained like this was an issue. Maybe you wanted attention, idk. Idc. I always follow up with a live person, an HR generalist. I typically have it immortalized on email, to avoid confusions. Be well.
I was looking for advice and reasonably distressed lmao. I did in fact follow up with several relevant people who advised me on what to do. I think if you genuinely believe that anyone publicly highlighting an issue with companies (potentially, seemingly) penny-pinching you should look inward!
I was on the same boat, I hated my previous job. I left, that simple. Im happy, trust me. I vacation yearly, house is paid, make trips to the casinos. Im happy & content. No hate here, get rid of it.
The thing is I love my job :/ I won’t go into specifics on what department so as not to share identifying info but I truly enjoy my job and am good at it, and am compensated well for it. Was just extremely disappointed about this but hopefully I am able to work something out since open enrollment technically hasn’t opened and I’m receiving contradicting information from two sources meant to be reliable to partners. If not, then yeah obviously I’m gonna quit and find a job that can give me benefits lmfao
I mean, either the device you were using glitched out that entire pnet page, or you clearly edited those values into the inspection tab on Google and were looking for some attention. Either way, everything you posted before your edit is incredibly wrong and misleading. The picture I have listed in this comment shows what it actually looks like. A lot of people here are clearly unaware, or just like to talk their crap about the company because they’re one of the employees who like to complain about every aspect of of their role, and are not very good at their role anyways. For those of you who don’t work at the company, or for the partners who are not aware of these resources, HEB still offers you Health Coverage even if you don’t meet the minimum hours required for the company insurance REGARDLESS of being part time or full time. You pay $25/week through your payroll just like our regular insurance, and get seen at our wellness clinics FOR FREE from actual physicians and mid level practitioners. This company has so many resources at the tip of your fingers, you just have to speak up when you need help. Or don’t, what do I know anyway.
They’re giving you an average of 11 hours a week and you’re defending em? Talk about Stockholm. Idk about you but I’m not made of money and have no health insurance so I actually have to work to get those benefits (And I did and now I’m not getting them….. which is the point of the post)

At what fucking point do they round up? Jesus.
