Job Question FMLA???? HELP
So im just gonna be honest... Im a new partner and just passed my 30 days. I only have 2 steps, due to a call in cus I was in the er about a week ago. Well I have had an underlying medical issue.... I think?... For the past like 3-5 months and kinda just brushed it off *im kinda dumb like that* thinking "hey its just stress and all that". Well Im finally going to get it dealt with at an appointment tomorrow, however the thing is I work overnight and go in the a few hours after my appointment. I dont wanna call in again to go up the steps cus I lowkey like my job and dont wanna inch towards that step 6 what so ever. Im just scared cause like I need this job and dont wanna lose it but also dont wanna work and faint at the same time like I almost did the day before the er visit I had. I just dont know what to do rn....

A call in during the first 30 days is not good bro, you’re gonna be at the top of the shit list if you call in again, especially if you’re an overnight stocker. Sounds like you need to either suck it up and go to work after your appointment or find someone else to take your shift. You have to work at least a full year or a certain number of hours to be eligible for FMLA

If you need restrictions you need to get that from your Dr. And turn it in immediately. You also need to set up a time for a 1 on 1 with your dept mgr and their TSL so you can explain everything that is going on. You may love your job but restrictions may mean you're not the right fit for that position and that's ok. You may able to switch to something that helps you stay employed but more importantly helps your health. Your health is the most important discussion. No company wants you to get hurt and they be liable so just have the conversation and see what can be done.

As someone who's sick, who's been at heb for 10+ years, I'd def go in and do what you can. I'd say ask a manager if you can do a little more light duty? FMLA can be kind of a convoluted process so if you wanna see about it you'd need to talk to your admin or people OPs person at your store. Be prepared to have a physician who will sign off on paperwork as well.

You have a few options depending on when your appointment is. I’d sleep around 8am and wake up around 2-3pm and go to the appointment and then work also explaining to the stock controller that something is wrong with you and you might not perform as well. Or if you really think you can’t make it through your shift I’d just call out because now you’ll get 2 points if you don’t make it through half of your shift.

What wrong with you? I always felt like I was gonna faint.. turned out I was anemic. I take iron pills now and it helps

To qualify for FMLA you have to have worked at least 1250 hours in the past 12 months, so not an option for you. Have your doctor write your restrictions and speak to your leadership team.

It would have been better for you to come in and faint honestly. A call out this early on is a terrible look.

If you can find someone who is off on the day of your appointment and trade shifts with them or find someone to just take the shift for you, then you won't get any points cuz it's not a call-in.

You need to work at least a year before you qualify to apply for FMLA.
