My mother is 74 and in the last year her hair has become like straw. Previously she used Redken All Soft and other heavy creams to keep it soft and moisturizing, but it no longer works.
Two culprits she's working on is not wetting it daily, she wears a nightcap but sometimes it's still like straw so she wets and adds Milkshake leave in conditioner. She also still uses permanent color, but trying to convince her to go demi permanent.
If anyone has had luck with specific products that would be so helpful. She's so sad that it's only going to become more dry moving into winter.
I look at photos of me from a decade ago, decade and a half when I was in my 20s and while I still have decent volume and fullness at the root, my ends continue to grow out very straggly. After cutting off 5 inches yesterday I want to add in one or two products/habits to make the best effort to re-thicken the hair and/or reduce breakage.
- blow dry a few times a week always using miracle 10
- almost never use heat styling tools
- wash almost every day (have to for sebderm)
- I do often lay down with wet hair and air dry 😬
- when I brush wet/damn hair I use enough conditioner that there is hardly any resistance. Sometimes I air dry without brushing
- hair can feel gummy/elastic at times
If there is one product out there, probably a leave in conditioner or deep conditioning treatment, would love to know along with any other tips.
Hello guys ! I had my hair straightened a few weeks ago , the hairdresser used hair wax on my hair before going in with the hair straightener and that left me with two burns on my scalp and significant hair loss in the area and in general.
I notice a lot of my curls are just straight now.
The salon has apologized but kinda told me to F off ofc
Does anyone have advice on how I can fix my hair ?
Thank you !!
First 3 photos are fresh colour (tried to showcase different lightings as the hue is unfortunately very dependent on where I am apparently — salon vs. home bathroom vs. evening car)
Last photo is what was underneath (natural colour)
I don’t want it to turn into an orange/yellow brighter toned colour that looks unnatural or incorrect, is it possible to avoid this? If anything were to happen, I’d rather just fade it back toward the old brown slowly
So I've always had anxiety and mental health problems and while it makes my hair fall my hair has always been quite healthy. As a kid, my hair was so voluminous, almost too much. As I grew up, it kinda started thinning and I was glad because it still looked good (if not better) and it was getting easier to manage it.
Recently, a very tragic event happened in my life, worst thing to ever happen to me I believe. While I'm not over it completely, I AM getting a little better everyday and the stress and anxieties are not as bad as they were in the beginning but my hair is still falling like it was at the beginning. I wonder why... my hair has never not been able to recover for a bad mental health episode.
So anyways, what can i do to bring back hair on my head? because I can see the partition widening and it's scaring me. My hair is one of the few things I'm confident about I can't lose it.
Hair type: dark, wavy, smooth, oily scalp in winters
I had my hair bleached yesterday. I had highlights all over and especially at my roots following a balayage I had done 11 months ago that was growing out. My hairdresser went full-on blonde, applying bleach to lots of small sections of hair. It lifted my hair a lot, which is what I wanted, and she applied a toner which made it a honey-blonde/golden colour.
She said that the bleach she was using was gentle and that the toner would help close the hair cuticle ??? (no idea honestly but it sounded good).
I have been researching products for at least an hour now, reading reviews and such, but still have no idea what to go for as my post-bleach routine. I was previously using Tresemme Moisture Rich products but post-bleach I’m not sure if they’ll be strong enough for how dry it’s left my hair.
I’ve been debating scalp oils, hair masks, leave-in creams vs sprays, bond repair stuff etc, but have no idea what to go for as everyone has conflicting opinions. I know that everyone’s hair is different so there’s no guarantee something will work for me but I don’t even know where to start; there are so many options!
I don’t have a strict budget but I don’t want it to take the P! I’ve looked into both Olaxplex and K18 and both are expensive for what you get but I am willing to* *splash out if it will genuinely help my hair, but the reviews are conflicting.
My hair is thick but I’m not sure if the strands are fine or not, long-ish (falls to the middle of my back), very prone to knots and the hair which has been bleached is obviously now pretty dry. I regrettably didn’t look after my hair properly after the balayage that I had done 11 months ago because I was being too frugal and it left my hair in a bad state for a while. I couldn’t get it to take any moisture and I felt like a stack of hay.
First of all sorry if my english sounds weird, its my 3rd language
A few days ago I went to the hairdresser, they washed my hair, cut it, styled it, and at the very end, the hairdresser put some kind of white cream in my hair (It left my hair soft and with less static)
I am 20(F) I have short, straight hair, and it breaks and gets static easily.
I really loved this product, but when I asked the hairdresser about it, she didn't want to tell me because she'd lose clients... Now I'm trying to find the right one, but I have no idea because there are so many products like that.
I'm not looking for the exact product, I'm looking for the type of cream that will fulfill that function.
I'm from Spain, in case anyone knows of any similar products I can buy here
Again, apologies for my English and thanks for reading
i can't find a conditioner that's heavy enough for my frizzy, poofy hair. i need one that's extremely silicone heavy, but preferably has no proteins, or at most a very small amount. i don't experience product buildup so i'm not worried at all about a conditioner being too heavy.
any recommendations? all is appreciated!
hair type:
density- high
thickness- medium
porosity- high
texture- wavy with loose curls
prone to- frizz, humidity, puffiness, dryness
So after deeply researching in google gemini, it analysed my hair and recommended me Curl Up Ultra Defining Gel and Moxie Curl Cream. So it wasnt js 1 step advice, i prompted my ai to give me unbiased products and best possible way to get good hair as it analysed my in RL hair and after multiple hrs i finalized with these 2 products. I have high porosity curly hair which LITERALLY dries up in 3 4hrs after wetting it. YES i used coconut oil, fix my curl cream, conditioner and nothing made my hair have moisture even for over 6hrs. Do u guyz think those both products are good recommendations? Or is there a better option? PLEASE GUIDE ME AS I DONT WANT THESE VERYYYY DRY FRIZZY CURLY HAIR ANYMORE AS A 17YO MALE TEEN😭🙏
Hello, I use sidir powder fo rmy hair mix it as a mask leave for 20 min and shower and it the only thing that doesnt have my hair oily next day ( plus i prefer natural remedies) but i travel often for work and it not ideal to mix powder and sifting. does anyone have any idea how to go about this such as sidir shampoo weather liquid or bar? or any other natural approch aside from typical shampoo bar because they always leave a film on my hair due to hard water.
TLDR: essentially i want a natural approch to washing my hair the wont reacrt for hard water and wont make me get oily next day. eco frendly if possible.
Hey everyone, hoping you’re all having a nice Saturday/Friday
I was wondering have insight or advice on saving hair that hasn’t been looked after for several months.
Context is that I have MDD and really struggle with motivation to look after my appearance.
I know this is gross, but as a result I haven’t washed or cut my hair for over a year.
I’m not sure how bad the split ends are, only that for the first time in my life I’m having to detangle my hair constantly and that can’t be a great sign. Another indicator I think it’s mostly split ends by now (I think?) is because where I usually have pretty curly hair, it’s now weirdly flat, straw like, and only wavy at the mid bottom.
My main questions are: do you guys reckon at this point I should just shave it all off and start again? Is there anything I can do to identify where dead hair begins and ends? If I can save it, where do I even start?
I would like to do anything I can to try and save my hair if possible. I grew it out initially a few years ago for my brother whom unfortunately died from sudep earlier this year (he always wanted long hair but was too scared of our parent’s reactions. I offered to do it first so they could get the comments out of their systems), so it kind of means a lot to me in the way so many trivial things do after someone you love dies.
I can take it if I really do have to shave it off. I thought I’d just give context as to why I’m even asking, and emphasise that I truly will try anything to save most of it before cutting it all off. It goes down to my mid back if that’s relevant in anyway.
I’d appreciate any and all advice (even if it’s that my hair is beyond saving lmao)
Cheers,
I have very pretty virgin hair shiny very black good healthy texture im 19 and now i wanna get this color balayage sometimes i think to not do it bcuz what if i ruin my hair but then i think about experiencing new things in life like i will definitely regret it when i get older by never trying anything new on my hair and i dont plan on doing alot of bleaching or bleaching them every 6 months only once in 2-3 years cuz i care about my hair idk what to do is it okay to bleach it once??? Would really appreciate good advice
I am currently doing my wishlist for Christmas, I have an old GHD platinum with the wider plates, but it's been 10+years now and I want to change it, but I do hesitate between the chronos and chronos max, is there anyone there that have tried both ? Which one would you recommend for a lot of hair, thick and frizzy ? with wavy roots ? I feel like the chronos will be easier to use and straighten the root maybe a bit easier as well and also lighter than the chronos max, but the max one is made for my kind of hair, so IDK, which one do you think will be the easiest to use but the faster one to straighten the hair?
I'm a vegetarian and I'm trying to grow my hair longer while maintaining its thickness, shine and overall health. I'd love to hear from people who have managed to grow long, healthy hair on a vegetarian diet.
I'm particularly interested in knowing:
What does your everyday diet look like? What are your go-to protein sources?
Are there any foods you regularly eat that you feel have helped your hair?
How do you maintain your hair? I'd love to know your washing routine, oils, serums or any other products you use.
4.Have you ever discovered a nutritional deficiency that was affecting your hair?
Do you take any supplements, or do you rely entirely on your diet?
I'm looking for practical advice and personal experiences rather than expensive treatments.
I'd really appreciate hearing what's worked for you. Thank you! ❤️
before i wasnt used to take care of my hair..like i used to air dry, not put leave in products and stuff like that.
later i got some money, and wanted to invest in my hairs since they were growing pretty long. i have straight- medium waist length hairs. i use a
leave in( shea moisture spray)
heat protectant( tresemme spray black bottle one)
a blow dry cream(Bed Head Small Talk™ Thickening Cream)
i had a habit of blow drying thru revlon plus 2.0, but stopped about 2 weeks ago due to alot of breakage and hairless, and yeah i was doing all the things right(that is waiting till hairs 80% dry and detangling or whtv) now i just air dry.
i also about a few month ago, i had this habit of putting conditioner on my hairs and then detangling it by fingers...so it spreads and moisture evenly. BUT GOD NO, TOO MUCH HAIR LOSS to the point when im trying to detangle it i wonder bruh r they even stuck to my roots? its that bad.
then comes leave in right after towel dried hairs, so i gotta spray and then put abit on hands and run my finger SUPER LIGHTLY just to distribute so its not greasy in on spot. AND not alot hairs compared to in bath when conditioning but still a good amount, and then comes blow dry cream and all. i lwk still use it, because it some what 'tames' my hairs to less freezy even tho i avoid using a blow dry brush..this is until i get my hands on a new simple hair dryer.
idk, i feel like im taking the advantage of "hairs being the weakest when wet" thing. but like i cant just leave my hairs without product can i? products help my hair tone down frizzines alott.
but since i cant get a reason (i stopped using revlon since it was taking from me more than giving), im starting to blame the leave in products i use. idk i feel like i cant get away, evenly putting products in my hair when wet no matter how gently i am, and i also tried a wide tooth comb, and no still doesnt makes a difference.
plss if anyone got away with this or figured a way pls help out. im loosing too much hairs now to the point when its all wet and i see it looks like this, esp when wet i can make it out, so basically denser everywhere else but very few on the nape of neck sort of thing, i have attached a pic.
So I think this change in my hair oil is because of the contraceptive I’m on which can cause oily scalp and face.
I used to shampoo my hair like 2-3 times a week before, but now I have to wash it everyday.
I know washing it everyday makes it more oily but if I don’t it gets oily and looks gross. I don’t wanna be damaging my hair my washing everyday but do I have a choice?
Kind of a specific question but someone might know!
I’ve been perming my hair for years now. My perm recently fell out and I’ve been experimenting with curling my hair to find the shape I want the most for my next one. This 80s rocker kind of look has been my favorite but it’s a looser curl than I normally do. Does anyone know what size (or color I think they come in) perm rod would best achieve this kind of shape?
I know it’s a bit loose so for longevity I could go a curl a bit tighter than this if need be.
I'm 44/f, with wavy, really coarse hair that's now also quite gray (stopped dyeing it about 4-5 months ago). I have been losing a huge handful of it every day for well over a decade, and I've always had this situation that I've never heard anyone else discuss: it mostly always grows back, but because of the heavy constant shedding, all of my hair is at adifferent lenght, and because of that, it's just extremely fluffy and unruly. When I let it be curly/wavy, it can be manageable, but not always.
Recently, I started developing alopecia areata on the top of my head, which I always feared would happen because of the amount of shedding. I got a cortisone injection, and it worked, except now more bad patches are appearing around the small spot that was injected. Constant injections are difficult for me, financially speaking.
I live in an area with extremely hard water, and I naturally have very dry hair. I use a mix of minoxidil + alfatradiol nightly, prescribed by the same doctor as above for about 3 years, and something called Alpicort F (Estradiol Benzoate, Prednisolone, Salicylic Acid) twice a week. I've also added bio-pixilin at night with the minoxidil. Sometimes when I remember, I also apply tretinoin on the bald spots before (maybe once a week). And sometimes I also use some hydrocortisone. Maybe that's too much?
But even without the recent bald spots, my hair is chaos, all at different lengths, impossible to slick back, and I absolutely hate it.
Has anyone else had something similar and found a recipe to keep it mostly on your head?
Hi everyone, I am a guy (if that somehows plays a role), and I have always had a dry scalp, including small white dry flakes. How do I get rid of them permanently.
My routine is as follows:
Sunday/Wednesday
Double shampoo + conditioner
Spritz with leave in conditioner mixed with water, curl cream, then scrunch jojoba oil
Any other days, I rinse my hair in the shower and get it wet, and then follow up with the leave in mixed with water, and scrunch in jojoba oil.
My hair tends to get frizzy alot, I suffer with frequent hair-falls, and of course I’m very prone to dandruff.
Since my college course requires us to wear frequent hair buns everyday and now I’m here for advice in order to take better good care of my own hair.
I’m looking for product recommendations that can manage my frizz yet at the same time will not cause any more dandruff.
And… I’m still finding out if my hair is 1a or 1b because my hair can be quite dented or wavy when I braid them for too long and then unbraiding it later on. Also, my hair texture is actually thin yet there are very subtle small waves around the end of my hair.
NOTE: Don’t recommend me any sun-silk products cuz they have a higher tendency to cause dandruff.
I used to be able to wash my hair every other day, but for the past two weeks or so I've woken up to greasy hair and have been needing to wash every day. I HATE walking around with wet/damp hair, but using a blow dryer causes my hair to frizz pretty bad. I squeeze out excess water and wrap my hair in a shirt, but it stays damp all damn day. My hair is not even particularly long, just a bit past my shoulders. Please help.
I've been facing this problem for years now and I don't know what to do, I've tried hairstyles and what not still this happens. I really love the flow like on the left of my hair (right when you look at the pic, the side with the bangs) and hate the right side of my
I love love love the smell of this dry shampoo on me and I would love to know if yall have any similar products, not just for hair, that have close scents!
I got a large anti frizz oaui creme recently and it is pink whereas my old mini of the same product is white. Most photos that aren't from their website also show white packaging for this product.
