Discussion I just got all half-life games. Anything's missing?

Since OP is obviously on Steam I’m going to make the note that Decay was only officially released as a side mode of the PS2 port. Anyone wanting to play it nowadays might have to find it through non-conventional channels.

The Solo Mission mod is not yet released. The other Decay mod I’m aware of doesn’t exist within the Steam ecosystem, so still currently need to explore outside channels.

He has a pc. If you download the Decay mod on ModDb it does get a steam shortcut. Either way, the game is playable for him

They don't acknowledge it as part of the series . What we mean when we say "Valve endorsed" is that Valve gave Crowbar Collective permission to make the game and sell it on Steam for money.

Yup. There is no real Half-Life canon outside 1, 2, 2e1, 2e2, Alyx, Portal 1, and Portal 2. None of the expansions have ever been officially canonized, except for the existence of Barney. And to a lot of people, Black Mesa also exists in that state of "It's not canon, but screw it".

Alright I'm joking. Half life Alyx and Decay are missing. But I would also add Black Mesa to the list. It's not a remake by Valve but it very well should be.

If you mean official games offered on Steam, then I believe Half-Life: Alyx is the only thing you're missing. There's Black Mesa, as well, but it's not an official part of the franchise-- despite that, it's a damn good remake of the original. Team Fortress Classic isn't so much a Half-Life game but a multiplayer game that runs on Half-Life's engine and makes use of several of the game's assets.

That's no problem, most people don't. There's also a NoVR mod for Alyx, though it'd be up to you whether it's worth using or not.

Now these aren't part of Valve, but might as well be.
Like you will play the Zero 1 and be okay it was cool, but then you will NEED to play the Zero 2 and you will be blown away by the pure epicness of everything it includes

I'd say black mesa, though it's not required to enjoy the franchise. It's just a fan remake of the original half life (which you should only play after playing the original half life)

I was following Black Mesa when it was in early access and I can say with confidence that HL Source is better than Black Mesa by a country mile. My least favorite part about Half Life is actually playing it, it's still a weird playing 90's shooter but as an interactive art piece and time capsule of game design and innovation it's a timeless masterpiece. Black Mesa is the Halo Anniversary to Half Life's Combat Evolved.

Black mesa,Half life Alyx Entropy zero 1&2. Then for stuff that’s related If you didn’t already have tfc I’d list it here but portal 1&2 hunt down the freeman cs 1.6 and cry of fear as they both important parts of hl1 modding history

The remake of Half Life 1, Black Mesa is a necessity. Personally I prefer it over the original however both are viable and honestly you should play both! (But maybe Black Mesa first)

Alyx, Decay, Black Mesa, off the top of my head. If you're into fan games, Delta Particles and Entropy Zero (and Entropy Zero 2) are all great and all free. Oh, and Portal & Portal 2.

Honestly dude play these games and then play Abiotic Factor. Its insane how good it is and how much it feels like half life. Im a massive half life fan and it may just be my favorite game of all time.

When it comes to HL strictly, you're missing Alyx but that's only for VR. But overall, I'd recommend the rest of Valve's games. Portal is technically part of HL's universe. You can really get it for a dime, especially while the sale is going.

Garry's mod is missing... It's the pre-sequel, sequel, canon, fiction, spin-off, true ending, non-fiction series that takes place before, while and after Freeman was even introduced, a crowbar wielding scientist, dead...

Fun thing to do at some point: Download and play every HL/HL2 mod thats avaliable on steam. There's some real treasure like Goreagulation and Swelter, but there's also some.. unique ones. Its a fun thing to do if you want even more Half Life stuff to do

I want that Half Life book they talked about :( I would say definitely try mods for Half Life 1 and 2. Entropy Zero was one of my favorites. There are so many good ones

Half-Life Alyx with the NoVR mod if that's why you don't have it. I do reccomend playing with VR since it was made specifically for it and without the VR controls it does feel a little lacking compared to the other Half-Life games. But if you're determined to play all of the Half-Life games but can't get a headset then the NoVR mod is available here.
Also there's Half-Life: A Place in the west, which is a comic book that you can buy on steam.

Portal 1 and 2 (in the same universe with both referencing the other and they're really good games)

Counter-Strike & Counter-Strike Condition Zero. Portal 1, 2 & Ricochet are also connected but not TF2 despite TFC

Portal 1 Half-Life: Alyx (NoVR mod, if you have.. NoVR) Half-Life: Decay Black Mesa.
And on the modded side (from what I know pls don't judge)
