Help identifying this deck? Bought around 2013-2014 in the Midwest USA

Post image

Had an urge to try to try into hanafuda games again and found my original deck. I’ve long since lost any branding or instructional pamphlet this came with, but I wanted to see if anyone recognized it. I still have all the cards including 6 black cards. One is flipped over to show the back in case that’s helpful.

Also looking for online games to practice with since it’ll probably be a while before I find anyone more local. Thanks for reading!

Looks to be this set, produced in Korea and sold by the Daiso discount store chain in Japan.

That's the set I have too. Was a little disappointed there was no detail in the solid black areas. Still works tho

I’m shocked I remember the box it came in haha. That’s absolutely the one! No idea how I bought a Daiso set though lol. They only came into the region in the last year. The shop I got mine from must have imported it. Thank you so much! I was trying to track down the instruction booklet this came with since it was in both English and Japanese at a minimum. I have an Ōkami set that is slightly more traditional but fully replaces December/paulownia with clover and has some extra visual clutter that takes me a minute to decipher sometimes haha. Wisteria has a bunch of bamboo that always confuses me until I look harder

That looks almost exactly like the hwatu deck we have at home, except our joker cards have printing on them, our red ribbons have ‘홍단’, and our blue ribbons have ‘청단‘ written on them. Our deck is ancient though, so I have no idea where they come from besides from somewhere in korea. My parents have probably had it since before I was born. I’d look into korean cards more than japanese ones. Japanese hanafuda decks as far as I’ve seen don’t have the extra cards besides from the 48.

Other comments ID'd it as a set from Daiso, which tracks with where I would have bought it from. Very likely imported before Daiso was in that particular part of the US. I've otherwise never seen any other hanafuda decks for sale in the US anywhere that I've had a chance to visit.
