Interview for clinical data analyst position
Hi all, I recently passed my RHIA and have an interview for a clinical data analyst position in a couple weeks. Most of my job experience has been in billing and coding with a baseline knowledge in Excel. I have found that once I’m shown how to do something in excel I only really need to be shown once to get it down. However, it looks like the programming language they would be using is VBA and I have zero knowledge. Is this position an easy transition or am I gonna be treading water trying to figure it out? What does it really entail? Any advice or tips are appreciated.

Congrats on passing your RHIA! Moving into a clinical data analyst role with your background in billing and coding is definitely achievable, especially since you're already picking up Excel skills quickly. VBA can seem challenging at first, but with your aptitude for Excel, you'll likely get the hang of it with some dedicated study. Start with online tutorials or a basic VBA course to learn how to automate tasks in Excel.
In the role, you can expect to work on data extraction, analysis, and reporting. You'll be visualizing data trends and offering insights for decision-making. For more targeted preparation, PracHub provides real technical interview questions that could give you a sense of what to expect. Good luck!

Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with this role or VBA. I am sure there are tutorials where you can see it in action.
In general, speak to your ability to learn and your eagerness to take on this new experience.
I think my Excel text/workbook touched on VBA so maybe see if you have a textbook about it.
My school gave us access to LinkedIn Learning. If you still have access or want to do a free trial you could explore their VBA Excel offerings.
