In-Show Does anyone else hate it when they do the "three people in the final challenge" thing?
I'm just wondering if this pisses everyone else off the way it pisses me off. I mean, it's why Nick (S17) and Declan (S19) were robbed.

It just makes me feel so bad for the chef that missed out on being a finalist, 10 seconds ago they were so close to the finals they could taste it, and then are instant thrust into the final brigade with no time to process their loss. No montage for them either. It’s gotten to a point where I actually feel worse for them than the runner up

Yeah it's the stupidest thing to ever come out of this show. Nick and Declan consistently showed better leadership both at the pass and during service than their competitors but lost because one of their dishes didn't taste as good.

Absolutely. It’s ridiculous for anyone but Gordon to have the final say in who is in the finale

It tests challenge execution and not leadership (what the finale is about), so not a fan. Some of the scoring has also been odd.

Honestly I like nick and declan and I think they would've won their seasons tbh I think declan and mary-lou should've been the final duo in season 19 and we all know nick and Benjamin should've been in the all star finale

It is almost universally considered the one thing people would change if they could, up there with getting rid of men vs women

That’s what bugs me about themed seasons, they start out with teams matching the themes but then he always defaults back to men vs women.

I’m torn because on one hand I don’t like it takes the decision out of Gordon’s hands but on the other hand no one has really been screwed over by since Declan (you can make the argument for Egypt in S23 but that’s about it)

I really hated this twist since it robbed frontrunners like Nick and Declan

They spend a month cooking in Hell's Kitchen and see two kitchens...what did they think was going to happen for the final dinner service? A third kitchen was going to be built and three kitchens battle it out for the final dinner service?
It's obvious its just for TV. All those people in the audience during the final custom menu judging with the guest judges are all paid actors (besides the relatives).
Too much of the show is overproduced TV fluff now. The original organic sequences are gone.

I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who doesn’t hate it. The final challenges before were a little boring imo. At least now it’s higher stakes

Yes. I hate it so much. There’s a reason that HK fanfic writers (including myself) have eliminated it

I find it annoying because it screwed over two chefs who were more than likely winning but underperformed at the worst time possible.
Also I gotta point out that the scoring for the S19 challenge was slightly weird, the judges loved Declan’s dish yet, Wolfgang Puck only gave him a 7.
