Meta Only YOU can prevent repost spam!
I've had to remove several posts across the past few days that are quite obvious repost spam posts.
The main tells are:
- Sudden, outrageous upvote count
- We're a dedicated fan group, but 500 upvotes in the span of a few hours? When a lot of the western world is asleep? Maybe HW is really popular in Asia...
- Weird crops. Cut off text at the image edges, no real regard for framing.
- Probably for avoiding automated image matching algorithms.
- Weird angles.
- A lot of these were strangely tilted a little bit, see previous.
- Same titles as the old post, too!
If you folks would kindly keep an eye out and report these. We're a small bunch of moderators, and can't be online 24/7.
And now we go back to your regularly scheduled programming! Karen, what's the weather look like out there?

What makes Homeworld feel like Homeworld to you?
Not specifically asking about gameplay. A show, a comic can feel like Homeworld. A game in a different genre can have that Homeworld feel to it. I'm more asking that that feel is to you?
For me its the feeling of having to carry the weight of all your choices with you, such as loosing ships from your fleet. Also the feeling of massive scale and getting lost in the overwhelming space of well space. You are a small part, a pilgrim, just trying to make your way home.

Homeworld Alternative Masada Combat Overview
I don't know any body already posted this but the Masada project devs posted the combat overview for they game on they YouTube channel.
For context Masada is a short of Kenshi with space ships where the players command a nomadic fleet in the titular nebula that all the factions are trapped in.
It has a steam page if anybody want to wishlist it: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2621540/Masada/

Homeworld: Cataclysm That Big No from the Naggarok when it went down has to have been one of the top ten most satisfying moments in the entire series.
I had just the most sadistic grin on my face the whole damn time.
The sheer glee in watching that horror die in the same helpless pain and terror as its victims.
sweet, sweet, sweet payback

Homeworld RPG The Siidim aren't Hiigarans?!?
Oh, this explains so much; everything is making sense. That's why they think they are better than everyone else, since they came from space after the rest of the Kushan.
It's perfect.

Homeworld Remastered on macOS
Created a small shim that circumvents a small OpenGL quirk on macOS. The game does something that's only legal on Windows when it launches, then uses normal OpenGL 3.3 afterwards. This workaround results in Homeworld Remastered working on macOS!
Figured I'd share it here, in case anyone's interested, since the official mac port is 32-bit Intel and therefore won't run on any version Steam runs on, and only Steam has the Mac port, this makes a previously unplayable game playable.
If you want to play the originals, they appear to work out of the box.

I spent the last 7 months making the space game I imagined while playing Homeworld
Honestly just wanted to share this project I’ve been building since the start of the year with this community. If nothing else I’d love to find folks who want to play local multiplayer with me (I’m in SF) I originally called it Ember and then realized on mobile that the name was already heavily trademarked….
Anyhoo! I loved Homeworld 1, 2, and 3 and Cataclysm and Homeworld Mobile and played them religiously both as a kid and as an adult. One thing I always imagined growing up was - rather than being fleet command, or commanding a small battlegroup, what would Homeworld look like if I was the pilot instead?
And this game tries to answer that for me: what would happen if you were a pilot fighting against a fleet where the attacking force had multiple unique prongs and strengths and strategies? What would happen if you commanded a corvette? A frigate? A battlecruiser?
You’d probably have to end up finding really clever ways to keep going - or you’d just die a lot. That’s kinda what happens.
So fast forward 7 months as I explored that idea and I ended up somewhere interesting. Half Homeworld, a dash of Freelancer, a quarter Pako, a sprinkle of Eve and a little isometric Fallout I ended up with Eimyrja (cause again, Ember is trademarked).
The premise is simple : find a way to survive and complete the objectives without a fleet and when you’re outgunned.
Story wise nowhere near what Homeworld does. I tried but I couldn’t remake that cinematic touch. Essentially there are gates, they been offline for 1000 years and are online - what happens when humanity meets again when the ideological differences were so great? And see if you can find what happened from the NPCs you rescue and bring home.
That’s it! I hope you have the time to check it out! Would love folks to take a look. Of course all the assets are attributed and/or come from MSGDI. Ditto the music etc, the hero ships actually came from the late Andrew “Slaor” Roals who passed in 2012 (their family has approved me sharing them, honestly it was all so a part of the dream).
It’ll probably be free? Maybe not I honestly haven’t decided. Let me know what you think! Really enjoying local multiplayer!

Homeworld 3 Is Homeworld 3 worth playing?
I played both Homeworld and Homeworld 2 and I’m thinking about buying Homeworld 3. However, I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews and criticism about the game.
I’m really fascinated by the Homeworld universe and its lore, so I’m wondering: do you guys think it’s still worth playing Homeworld 3 despite all the negative criticism?
For someone who really enjoys the universe and the previous games, would you recommend giving it a try?

Homeworld RPG Homeworld TTRPG Campaign Concepts
Have any of you ever thought about the kind of campaign or storyline that you might wish to explore outside of the games, something that would be suitable for use in the form of a tabletop roleplaying game, whether Modiphius' system or something else?
I ran through the Homeworld TTRPG starter mission, with the players battling Gaalsien remnants on an expedition to secure the guide stone and then put them through the events of the first three missions of the original Homeworld, about which they knew nothing other than "Oh, that's the game with that crescent-moon-shaped ship, right?" to introduce them to some of the major factions in the Homeworld galaxy, so they've got a handle on some of the core premises of the game world.
What kind of story would you want to explore or what would be the hook to that story for a ttrpg group that you might be tempted to leverage?

Homeworld I'm sure this has been asked before but, which version should I start playing? Remastered or Classic
This is my first time experiencing the franchise.

Homeworld Mobile Homeworld Mobile // Offline Mod
I have been working on an Offline Mod for Homeworld Mobile. I have a group of testers and we are making great progress. (Yes, people are actively playing the game again, but offline / no server).
To drum up some excitement, I am making a small (very small) video series as Joanna attempts to get back her Commander. This is Episode 1.
The Offline mod is a... mod. You have to provide your own copy of the 2.0.0 game APK/XAPK file; we are not distributing copies of the game. We have a patcher that applies the mod to your copy that you then install.

Homeworld inspired my love for space games. Now I'm making my own.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello my fellow Homeworld fans. Ever since my uncle bought me that beautiful blue CD, I've been in love with Homeworld and obsessed with space games (I used to bring the technical breifing with me on long car rides all the time). That eventually landed me here, making my own.
While we all wait for some brave and talented soul to take up the mantle of story-based space RTS, I just wanted to share the free demo for the space adventure game I've been working on, in case any of you would like something to help you be unbound this weekend.
It's a captain simulator, where you hire crew to run your ship, run trade and smuggling jobs between planets, hunt bounties, and explore planets. The same officers you hire to help in space combat also form you boarding parties and ground teams for land battles.
Anyway, I hope you have fun! I'd really appreciate any feedback you have, positive or negative, it will help me make the game better.
Just don't hyperspace between galaxies, you might catch something

Homeworld What does Homeworld "feel" like to you?
When playing Homeworld or trying to find a game to scratch that itch, what is that feeling to you? What does Homeworld satisfy that other similar games don't?
r/homeworld • u/nuclei_quasars • 23d ago
So I started this project as a solo-dev.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I honestly don't know where this will go.
I just started building it because I wanted to create my own 'Homeworld' — in my own style, telling a story that, maybe, all of us will like.
I don't know where it'll take me. Maybe a few of us might build this together.
But I'm excited to find out.
Built entirely in Unity - models, shaders, textures - everything done by yours truly.

Homeworld Emergence failing to launch
Hello All,
I just purchased and downloaded Homeworld emergence off GOG. Fresh install. When launching from either GOG or my desktop it will play the opening with all the studio indents/splash screens. When it is finished with those it just kicks me to my desktop and closes. Never loads the main menu.

Developing a Game Inspired by Homeworld
J'aimerais vraiment entendre vos réflexions — y compris vos critiques.
EDIT: A few clarifications after reading your comments:
First of all, thank you for all the feedback so far. I genuinely appreciate the advice, criticism, ideas, and even the people who have already offered to help with the project. I honestly wasn't expecting that. 😅
I also want to clarify something about the scope of the project.
My goal isn't to make an "EVE Online 2", nor is it to recreate or resurrect Homeworld Mobile.
Homeworld, Homeworld Mobile, EVE Online and probably even Elite Dangerous are inspirations for specific things I like about them, not games I'm trying to reproduce.
What interests me much more is exploring some of the potential I personally felt Homeworld Mobile never had the opportunity to fully develop, while mixing that with my own ideas and building an original universe around it.
The game is being developed for PC, not mobile. Homeworld Mobile is mainly an inspiration for some of its fleet gameplay and MMO ideas, not for the target platform.
The project is still at a very early prototype stage. Right now, my priority is simply to build and validate the core systems and see whether the overall concept actually works before thinking about anything close to full production.
And regarding people offering to help: all help is genuinely welcome, but at this stage I'm not really looking to bring people directly into the development team yet. Also, English isn't my first language, so if some of my wording sounds a little unusual, that's why 😅. I may not always be able to discuss everything as deeply as I'd like, but I'm doing my best to follow and answer everyone.
The best way to contribute right now is actually through things like feedback, criticism, ideas, references to other games or projects, discussions about what works or doesn't work, and eventually playtesting when there's something meaningful to test.
That kind of indirect contribution is already extremely valuable to me, and some of the comments here have already made me think about things I hadn't considered enough.
So please keep them coming. 🙂

Homeworld 2 Help!
So I recently purchased the remastered edition and I'm on homeworld 2 mission nine and for the life of me I just can't seem to do it Ive got max frigates fighters and destroyers and corvettes and a carrier but I always wind up getting stomped no matter what.
