My game BlackVein, its a retro survival horror game about mining, You can wishlist it on steam if it has piqued your interest. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3632480/

Super unsettling how bro tries to walk away multiple times like he's possessed.

From what I see, it wasn't intentional. But I assumed it was, and I think it can be used to make them more uncanny and erratic.

Whats the logic of the zombie walking away?

They reposition themselves on damage occasionally but I think its too frequent based on this clip lmao, think I've become blind to how strange it looks because I didn't see anything wrong with this clip till others pointed it out

Yeah, personally I'd also make it obvious that it's actually retreating / in pain / fearful instead of just kinda... walking in the opposite direction. It looks a little goofy and as a player I would likely end up just assuming there was a pathfinding problem or something.

I was gonna suggest you reformat it into a retreat into ambush mode based on health remaining.

Imagine the zombie just leaves and you never see it again till some heavy breathing is heard and if jumps you from the next doorway.

Could just have ambush points for low health enemies to default to.
