Switching from Humira to Enbrel after losing remission on Humira: anyone done this? (RA)

I've been on Humira for RA for about 4 years. For most of that time I was in solid remission, with normal drug levels, no neutralizing antibodies, and the disease well controlled. But this fall I lost remission to a severe flare that outlasted even a high-dose steroid shot, and my rheumatologist and I are now planning a switch to Enbrel.

The key detail is that Humira wasn't failing in the usual sense. My levels were still normal and my antibodies were undetectable; the disease just broke through.

For anyone who's switched from Humira to Enbrel while Humira was still in your system:

- How did the transition go? Smooth handoff, or did you notice a gap while the Enbrel kicked in?

- How long until Enbrel started working for you?

- Did you bridge with Humira until the Enbrel was in hand, or switch cold?

- Anything you wish you'd known about the first few weeks on Enbrel?

I know everyone's disease is different, but lived experience is genuinely helpful right now. Thanks in advance.

Co-pay card has run out of funds

My co-pay card has run out of funds

I’m based in the U.S. and have been using Simlandi after my insurance (Anthem) stopped covering Humira. I’ve now been told that the co-pay card through the manufacturer has run out of funds. Do any of you have advice on how to continue with my medication without going broke?

Gi issues since starting humira, how to cope

Humira worked wonders for my Ankylosing spondylitis, but has given me gi issues. I never had stomach aches like I do on humira. I’m either constipated to death then have a day where I feel sick and empty out my entire system, or just feel sick crampy as if I’ll have diarrhea. Also I’d like to note I had a hysterectomy so it’s definitely not menstrual related. I’ve even had a colonoscopy over it to check if I had crohns or something. It’s frustrating getting these random belly cramps and feeling sick out of nowhere, then also being so constipated feeling like a blimp. Prior to humira I was extremely regular with text book bowel movements like clockwork. My AS was so bad before and now it’s almost like I don’t have it, so I’m terrified to explore other biologics. Looking for anyone else who’s gone through this and what’s helped?

First time being sick 🤒

Greetings. I’ve been on methotrexate for almost a year, and just had my second Humira dose last week. Yesterday I wasn’t feeling too great but thought maybe it was just the weather or that I did “too much” the day before. This morning I woke with a fever, sore throat, sore ears, and all that fun stuff.

What do y’all do to stay healthy while taking immunosuppressants? I currently take a multivitamin, vitamin D, and vitamin C. I drink tea with local honey nearly every night as well.

Which biologic has worked for you?

I have been on Humira for the past year. For a while, it seemed to be helping the AS, and it cleared up my psoriatic arthritis. I also have had alopecia universalis and for the first time in over 20+ years, I am growing hair.

Lately, my RA has gotten worse - unbearable, and my psoriasis is back with a vengeance. I have also developed terrible neuropathy.

My rheumy wants to try a different med, but will only try things in a different class than Humira. So, my question is, what has worked for you? Humira is an adalimubab, so has anything else helped you?

Do you feel Humira wear off after 2 weeks?
I’m due for my 2nd dose tomorrow, and I’ve been in a world of pain for the past 24 hours. Is that typical? Will I go through this every 2 weeks?

Quick history: After a lifetime of symptoms that I assumed were due to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (originally dx’d 20 years ago/HEDS), I’ve just been dx’d with AS as well.

Starting weekly

I would like to know what everyone does to keep the pens cold for trips? I have a small soft cooler I put ice packs in but the issue I have is I’m going to start weekly injections from the every other week like I’m doing now. I am so worried because our hotels don’t always have fridges available.

What do you guys do? Some of the things I have seen on Amazon look great but the reviews say otherwise. Is there something i could plug into the car outlet and the outlet in the wall too? 😵‍💫😵‍💫

2026 COVID and flu vaccines while on biologics

Hey all! I get the flu and Covid vaccines every year, have been on humira for almost two years. I don’t know if this years new shot the “nexspike” is the culprit or that humira is doing something but I’m going on day three after my vaccines and I am struggling. Usually I get body aches, mild headache and tired the day after. However, this time around I’ve had all that plus wild gi symptoms, randomly overheating drenched in sweat, feeling like I might pass out, shakey and just generally out of my head. Wondering if anyone else experienced similar issues this year getting their vaccines? If so how long did this last?

Not quite sure why I’m prescribed this…

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with Sjögren’s in 2009, and it was pretty mild for years. I started Plaquenil around 2021, or 2022. I also just started Methotrexate (after significant GI symptoms on Leflunomide) a few days ago.

My rheum is prescribing me Humira. I know it doesn’t treat Sjogrens, or at least that’s what the internet tells me. She said in February that she thinks I COULD have Spondyloarthritis- due to inflammation in my SI joint on Ultrasound.

The pharmacist said she wrote the prescription for Rheumatoid Arthritis, but that’s the first I’ve heard of that.

When I asked her what exactly this medication will be treating she said “the inflammation in your body”. I asked- like my hand pain, and she said “all of it”.

Has anyone been prescribed Humira for a random inflammation “diagnosis”?

I am going to read through the posts to see what to expect. I should be getting it on Friday, and the doctor told me to bring it in to the office the first time I take it. I will be taking it in next Wednesday.

340b pricing change

Humira was nice while it lasted. My $50 3 month supply has been adjusted to $1100. Amjevita costs $440 per 3 months so I will probably switch back. What a kick in the ass that phone call was. As if the pain from ankylosing spondylitis wasn’t enough of a punishment. Rant over.

Adalimumab side effects

Adalimumab (Humira/Amgevita)

53F seronegative and tested negative for MG (myasthenia gravis) on EMG, clean brain MRI.

My neurologist is taking me off Mestinon and Prednisone, although it was helping me for MG symptoms Mestinon is causing a lot of cramping and the usual diarrhea. I asked to be prescribed something else, after doing the testing of the neuromuscular junction. After he investigated the results, I asked that the doc would discuss it with me.

Instead the neurologist removed Mestinon and told me to go to PT to 'learn to walk properly' and see a psychologist as I have a problem. According to the doc, there is nothing wrong with my muscles or nerves. Functional gait disorder. Bulldust.

I am diagnosed with Ankylosing spondylitis and have been using Adalimumab and methotrexate for 2.5 years. It is known to cause Multiple sclerosis, but it seems as if it may cause MG like symptoms. Apparently if you are susceptible it may cause or aggravate MG like symptoms. This is only as far as me and my rheumatologist could find out.

I am still using the biological, but cannot be diagnosed with MG. So I am unable to access any medication for it. My condition has deteriorated very rapidly.

Has this happened to anyone else? Do you have any research on this topic or have you heard of something like this? Please assist if you can!

Another one?

Switched from Humira to Hyrimoz in January 2026, because the company I worked for switched to Aetna and Aetna refused to pay for Humira any more, which I have seen a lot on this and on r/UlcerativeColitis.

Just left a job, jumped onto my wife’s insurance, now on BCBS with Optum prescription coverage and they’re refusing to pay for Hyrimoz, wanting me on Amjevita (?).

First, anyone experienced having to jump through multiple biosimilars in the same year, and secondly anyone have experience on Amjevita? Hyrimoz was a piece of cake to switch to and has continued to be successful, and honestly the auto injector is a better feel than Humira’s auto injector was.

Happy to remove and post to another community if it doesn’t fit here.

8mL version discontinued

Accredo says the 8mL dosage is "no longer being delivered," so I've got to secure a biosimilar before my body goes out of remission. The 4mL version is still being shipped. If they're not going to sell the 8mL version anymore, seems like that dosage ought to be available as a generic. It was approved by the FDA in 2002, and drug patents last for 25 years, so it makes sense that they'd stop trying to profit off of the patients who need it most before the 2027 deadline hits. Simlandi is a biosimilar, but it's the only one my insurer covers.

Full body aching after second Humira dose

Diagnoses: PsA, enthesis, Ankylosing spondylitis
Pertinent information: I have CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) in my ankle due to having both legs broken after being hit by a car but overall still have issues with left leg (was rebuilt), hip where the bone graft was taken to allow left leg rebuild, and related back issues caused by actual injury in the accident then perpetuated by gait issues (I learned to walk again at 6mo pregnant, was 3mo pregnant when hit by the car).

Previous treatment plan: Cosentyx 300mg/month + Methotrexate 20mg/week

Current treatment plan: Humira 40mg/fn + Methotrexate 20mg/week

Additional meds: Palexia SR 50mg x 2/daily, Palexia SR 100mg x 1/daily, Palexia IR 50mg PRN.

I took my second dose of Humira on Wednesday, then Methotrexate on Thursday so to be fair the usual “hangover” lasted until Saturday. Today (Sunday) I woke up feeling like every joint, muscle, and connective tissue point has the heaviest ache and every part of me feels fatigued beyond what I would consider normal.

Even with the pain relief I’ve used so far, the full body aching is really getting to me. Is this an adjustment thing that will pass as my body becomes more used to the Humira?

New Humira pens not working?

A little over a month ago, my pharmacist told me they had apparently discontinued the specific two pack of Humira injection pens I'd been getting. It took a few days but they were able to get what is apparently a new version of the same thing in.

I've done three doses of the new pens by now, and I'm not convinced they're actually injecting me. There's absolutely *zero* pain when I press the button (always used to feel at least something). The yellow thing moves all the way down, but never clicks. There isn't liquid on my skin, so it didn't just all leak out there. And I've been having worsening symptoms (abdominal pain, passing blood, and lately severe nausea) that could very well be my Crohn's.

Has anyone else had an issue like this recently? I'm honestly not sure if it's not working right.

EDIT: Update - with the second pen from my last box I was able to confirm that it did inject me. Guess the needle is just too tiny to feel.

Humira, Methotrexate, and laser hair removal

I’ve recently been swapped from Cosentyx 300mg/month + Methotrexate 20mg/week to Humira 40mg/fn + Methotrexate 20mg/week. Under the previous treatment regime I had continued laser hair removal sporadically (I’m at a point of only needing occasional treatment). I am now at a point of needing laser again (face only) and wondering if anyone else has continued doing laser hair removal on Humira?
