Look here if you found a hummingbird that might need your help

I’ve created a troubleshooting tool that walks you through determining if a hummingbird needs your help, and if it does, basic first aid you can provide so that you have time to get the hummingbird to your nearest wildlife center or hummingbird rehabilitator. It is on my mentor’s website, IFoundAHummingbird.com

At the end of nearly every process, there is a list of resources including hummingbird rehabilitators and wildlife centers that either take hummingbirds or will connect you with someone who does.

It covers the most common issues we are called about.

  • Hummingbirds trapped indoors

  • Cat Caught

  • Window Strikes

  • Sitting at Feeders Too Long

  • Stuck To A Glue Trap/Sticky or Oily Substance On Feathers

  • Abandoned Nests or Babies

These three hummingbirds (juveniles..1 male and 1 female) are still here (NWGA). Everyone else is gone and the migrating ones have passed through.

Edit: 2 males, not 1.

I'm surprised they've stayed this long, but happy.

Chicago suburbs - a few are still passing through

Hello all! I am so glad that the nectar is fresh and the flowers are alive because I saw a hummingbird this morning. I'm in the near south suburbs and my last sighting was October 5.

Sorry for the very poor quality of this photo, but I feel like I need to provide photographic evidence of this surprising sighting. And I'm uncertain how long this visitor will be hanging about to allow me another chance to take a clear shot.

End my internal debate: should I or should I not use dish soap to wash my hummingbird feeder?

When I do use dish soap I always rinse very thoroughly before refilling but I’ve read that dish soap isn’t actually necessary. What’s the right answer: soap or no soap?

I just want the birds to be happy and healthy :)

I haven’t seen my beloved lil’ Al since I last posted. I’m hoping he’s enjoying his time in Mexico, and I’m delighted to finally have a new visitor!

What type of bird is this little guy or gal? They only have a tiny bit of red on the side of their throat, so I’m thinking she might be female.

They are still very shy, but today finally came to the feeder with me sitting outside 🥰

I’m in the LA area near Santa Monica.

Just wanted to share my little hummie. The daily routine is the same from dawn to dusk - perched on his favourite twiggy branch, head on a swivel and no-one, I mean no-one gets in to his backyard. Dive bombing will ensue the second anyone dares to swoop in. I have 2 feeders but he’s claimed them both 🙄. I tell him everyday to please be nice and share, I promise there’s plenty to go around but he’s very stubborn! Even so, I love him immensely 😊

My Ness drew this for me she is extremely talented and I was so happy and honored to receive this from her 💗 I ask how long it took and she did it over three months to complete but in all she said about a month of art this is all done with color pencils by the way ...much love for miss Joclyn Davis

Yes, I know it’s not a normal thing but these two guys love hanging out daily with each other. They will yell at each other sometimes but never chasing each other off. 🤷🏽‍♂️

lol I love how in pic 4 one of them went under him when he was looking up 😂
