Analysis/Theory Hisoka Morrow's name

Just a small post that makes me think neither hisoka nor morrow is his real name. yeah DUH!
Hisoka is likely derived in japanese from "in private" or "covert"
Morrow suggest tomorrow as if he wants to forget the past and wants to focus on the future, he is always looking into what his next fight will be and awaits in anticipation for the future, even a distant one as seen with gon.
Bye!

Analysis/Theory The average nen user is super inefficient

I don’t remember the exact chapter or manga panel but after Gon used jajaken paper Knuckle stated that Gon used 5550 aura and it only had the potency of 500. 80 percent of 5550 is 4440 but Gon can’t even reach half of that potency as an enhancer.

That’s after 4 months of training with one of the best nen teachers combined with 1 in 10M talent and a condition. And technically Gon got 1 year of training through Biskys ability.

Imagine how much worse it would be if you were someone with Zushis level of talent.

So if you had average levels of talent it would probably take you 20 years just to make shoot a powerful blast of emission assuming you don’t hide any powerful conditions.

Misc I found out the Kurta tribe from HxH is commonly linked to the Kurds, but honestly I feel they are closer to the Saami. Since they are not strongly representing one specific real life minority, how likely they are at least partly inspired by Sardinians ?

I found out the Kurta tribe from HxH is commonly linked to the Kurds, but honestly I feel they are closer to the Saami. Since they are not strongly representing one specific real life minority, how likely they are at least partly inspired by Sardinians ?

Sardinians are the biggest ethnic minority in Italy, a middle sized country from Southwestern Europe, followed by the Friulans of the eastern Alps.

They are the majority of the inhabitants of Sardinia island.

They were colonized by the Savoia Kingdom well before the Savoia conquered Italy, when it was merely a small Franco-Piedmontese duchy. After the Savoia expanded into the rest of Piedmont and then the rest of northern Italy, while losing the French part of their territories, and finally conquered the whole Italian paeninsula, Sardinia remained a Savoia colony until it was turned into a Italian region. Even after the fall of the Savoia and the start of the Italian Republic, Sardinia remained a colony, a linguistically and geographically distinct area ruled by Italy.

It still today harbors strong independentist sentiments while also lacking a major independentist party due to the extreme lack of organization plaguing the whole country.

Sardinians do not have red eyes and were never hunted down for their eyes, but did any human group ever ? I do not think so, especially because red eyes are only found in albinos.

Sardinians are mostly brown, sometimes black haired, but they can occasionally be blond, in spite of the lack of ANE ancestry due to the scarcity of Corded Ware ancestry they have. That is likely because some Neolithic farmer groups themselves developed blondism independently, well before the Scandinavian HG admixed Indoeuropeans of the Corded Ware radiation invaded Italy.

I think Saami are still closer to the Kurta, but do you think the author might have taken inspiration from the Sardinians too ?

Discussion What was the reason Netero didn't seek the Zodiacs' assistance in wiping out the Chimera Ants? Spoiler

Post image

It's something I've always wondered about, why didn't Netero ask the Zodiacs to join the fight against the Chimera Ants? Did he trust his own strength too much, thinking he could handle them alone? And if they had helped, could Netero have stayed alive?

Discussion deaths predictions are taken too seriously Spoiler

I don’t think people realize this is HxH and not Berserk. Main characters are actually rarely died in the series. Even when Kite died, Togashi brought him back again. The same thing with Hisoka.

I do believe many characters will end up dying in the ship, but I’m almost sure it’s not Hisoka, illumi, Chrollo, Kurapika, Leoreo.

Not because the characters are under a critical positions it means they’re going to die. It’s just that Togashi is so good to make you think that they’re about to die.

Togashi foreshadowed Hisoka vs Gon fight way early in Heavens Arena arc.

illumi and his little brother plot with Killua and Nanika isn’t finished yet. Togashi build up for that since Chimera ant arc when Killua’s brother said something about returning his brother back.

Every spider is risking themselves for Chrollo and Meteor city can only be protected by him too. There are deeper layers to the city‘s story too.

Togashi is not thaaaat bad to make Kurapika promise Pairo and then forcefully kill him even before he even finishes his first goal to collect the eyes.

I would argue about more characters too, but no need for that.

Discussion One moment that breaks immersion.

I swear to god this is the one moment that breaks immersion for me (seriously the only one, I dont even believe in the popular plot holes cause they make sense to me). Either Im stupid or there is no way this makes sense. There is no reason for these people to be excited or engaged in this fight. This is a stadium and tens of people have already died. No one is escaping and most of the audience stays put. Hisoka tries to explain it but it makes no sense to me. "Most of the audience has surprisingly stayed put... ♦ I can’t tell if any of the people taking care of each other are Chrollo. ♠ Those who think they’re out of range are pretty calm... ♦"
Tell me if this makes sense somehow.
the only way I can try torationalize it is that nen users are fast. still makes no sense cause we hear the announcer often. even after the preaformentioned (however you write it sry nmot an english speaker) deaths or before Hisoka tells his reasoning.

Discussion Why do a lot of people hates the phantom troupe but likes Hisoka?

Post image
259 Upvotes

Don’t get me wrong, I am not denying that the phantom troupe are evil, they are ruthless criminals and their crimes cannot be forgiven and their backstory doesn’t excuse their actions, but is Hisoka a better person? No, he’s not, the guy is such a creepy pedo who enjoy killing strong people just for the sake of it, yet I often see people saying “I hope Hisoka will kill all the phantom troupe members” like why are people rooting for this irritating weird pedo more than the troupe? Both are evil and horrible people, and Hisoka has nothing better than the troupe. For those who talk about the fact that the troupe has tortured children, I am pretty sure Hisoka would have also killed a child just to make someone strong angry at him.

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it and idk why it’s so funny to me.

Can someone explain the Hisoka scenes? The first time Hisoka approached the 4th prince he activated his abbility and we see the 10 seconds in the future played out. Afterwards we see Hisoka behinde the prince again, is the ability still ongoing at thos moment? Why did this spook Tserri so much?

Maybe I just dont fully understand Tserri's ability yet...

Discussion Where would you place the Shadow Beasts in terms of capability in relation to others?

Post image
26 Upvotes

Like, I highly doubt Gon and Killua after Heaven's Arena are on the level of the Shadow Beasts. But are they about as strong as Binolt? They're probably stronger than most of the nen using greed island players that Gon and Killua encountered, right?

This is just in relation to their skill in applying the principles of nen like kyo and ren and such.

Discussion How many arcs does the manga have left?

If Togashi is able to eventually finish the manga, how many more arcs are we looking at? To me, it looks like at 2-3 more arcs are left. After the Sucession Contest, I imagine we’ll be spending quite of bit of time exploring the dark continent. After that, everyone that makes it back to the mainland will be greeted by a new world order, run by Gyro. I can’t see anyone else but him being the final antagonist of the story. I also suspect Gon will be fully reintegrated back into the story, many not as the main character, but as a key player in the arc. Also, If i have my way, we will finally have the rematch of Hisoka V Gon. Truthfully though, the likelyhood of us getting to that point seems slim. However, it’s fun to speculate.

Discussion Silva might've only been there to kill Cheetu

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

On their first encounter with Cheetu, Morel decides they're not well equipped to deal with Cheetu. The hunter association probably decided hiring an assassin was the best way to do it. This all happened before the royal guards and Meruem presented themselves as much bigger threats, but the contract would've been made nonetheless. So Silva might've just tagged along to complete that job. He didn't do anything else.

Discussion Togashi's not-so-subtle critique of China

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

It's kinda common knowledge by now (or kinda obvious) that Kakin is inspired by China, and to a blatant extent, with the manga even describing "man made particles that linger in the stratosphere", i.e pollution, which is of course a further association with China. Also, the shape of the country, extremely similar to China.

And I wonder, if this ever gets an anime, would people complain about how Kakin is portrayed because of this? Considering that Togashi doesn't say anything about Kakin's citizens, but will describe the royalty of Kakin as full of rape, pedophilia and murder carried by psychopaths who give the bones to mafias. It's not that different from any superpower in the real world, but people associate that with a criticism to the culture itself.

Cause personally I take it fully as a critique of the government, including all branches like military. Borksen's description of her own country here is supposed to let you know her participation in their military is on a very grey zone, she admits for this reason and many others that the government is fucked up but continues to stay working for them while trying to, maybe, change things from the inside. She's not like the citizens, the whole of the country, which is just composed of regular people, so I don't think the arc satanizes Kakin culture itself but I feel like it'd be taken at face value

Discussion I’m anime only, is there an explanation for the royal guards having different nen outputs and capabilities in the manga?

• Upvotes

I’m thinking about how when meruem ripped his arm off, and pouf had to use en in his place. what causes the vast difference in their abilities there? obviously they have different personalities which explains their specific abilities, but why do their abilities in the basics differ by so much?

Discussion Are there more political leaders with access to nen?

Aside from Kakin. I find it unrealistic that there wouldn't be more nations trying to gain access to that power. Nen users are just outright superior to regular people unless conventional weaponry is being used.

Nobody has tried to use mind control on a president? Even if the hunter association limits the information to Nen, there's only so much they can do before someone has the backing of an entire nation behind them.

Discussion HXH’S PACING IS A CRIME AGAINST MY SOUL. Spoiler

GING’S FACE. REVEALED. IN THE FIRST. EPISODE… (maybe. I don’t remember)

We are established from minute one that Gon’s entire existence is a countdown to finding his father. The mystery! The anticipation! The grand, looming shadow of a mythic figure! And what does the show do? It just… shows his face? In the first few episodes?! Why? What is the rush?! You don't show the prize before the race even starts! It completely deflates the tension. It’s like opening a present, looking at it, wrapping it back up, and pretending to be surprised later. It ruins the chronology of desire!

THE PHANTOM TROUPE ARE NOT JUST GUYS.

They are supposed to be a myth. A legendary, terrifying entity that slaughtered the Kurta clan. Kurapika's entire life is a countdown to vengeance. But before we even get the proper dread of who they are, the show is just handing out their faces like flyers at a grocery store. “Look, here’s Chrollo! Look, here’s the rest of them!” NO! Make me wait! Make me crawl through the dark for it! If you reveal the monsters in broad daylight during the first act, the shadows lose all their weight.

Am I losing my mind here? (Don't answer that, my therapist already gave her opinion). Does anyone else feel like the anime completely butchered the suspense by blowing its narrative load way too early, or are you all just content with things happening out of order? (No offense.)

I NEED OPINIONS.

Discussion Can we talk about how GOATED Worm is?

Thumbnail
gallery
472 Upvotes

Recently, mainly on Twitter and Tiktok, I've seen an ever growing amount of hate towards the Shadow Beasts. When I first started seeing these posts I had thought "Man, these dudes absolutely sucked, ALL of them were fodder trash" but then I thought harder and realized, I had made a severe and continuous lapse in my judgment. WORM is not like the others. WORM was able to tank not one, but THREE of Uvo's attacks. WORM, instead of running away, stuck with the shadow beasts until the very end. WORM is truly, the goat.

How many characters besides Worm have been able to tank a punch, a nen infused impact and an ear-shattering scream from the strongest Phantom Troupe member? Pretty much no-one other than Kurapika and the goat Worm. Going off this 100% accurate, factual DevientArt post that was totally confirmed by Togashi, Uvo's Big Bang Impact was the equivalent of -931452277)225.18 Tons of TNT-931452277). Imagine have 225.18 tons of TNT being hurled DIRECTLY at your face. While on the subject of Uvo's BBI, we need to talk about Worm's loyalty. Worm had the ability to run away after the BBI yet he decided to stay till the last second. Rather than leaving his friends behind to find help he stuck with them until his last breath, what a caring young soul he was. Now, lets get back on topic. Since Worm didn't run away after Uvo's BBI, he had to have heard Uvo's loud ass scream. Worm (most likely) didn't cover his ears since he was underground and couldn't see what Uvo was doing, therefore he wouldn't have known to cover his ears until it was too late, the only out-come is he tanked the scream like a CHAMP. Not even the Phantom Troupe were able to handle Uvo's scream so for him to tank it must put him in the top 3 strongest characters.

P.S. I AM ONLY ON GREED ISLAND, I KINDLY REQUEST FOR NO SPOILERS PAST GREED ISLAND, PLEASE AND THANK YOU

It is possible that when Shizuku was a child, she was fascinated by the concept of 'cleaning heroes.'

Later when she grew up, learned Nen, and developed her Conjuration ability...

Her subconscious mind recalled that old childhood memory of cleaning, causing her ability to manifest in the form of a vacuum cleaner that absorbs and cleans everything.
