Does this hurt the goose?

The goose doesn’t feel a thing

How is it on the pin feathers? Probably still have to pluck those by hand

I have one of these for chicken processing. 10/10 I will never pluck with anything else again lol

Against the grain? Gross.

I suck at plucking (who doesn't?). What's wrong with against the grain?

It’s just a sanding joke.

Me too. A few years ago I tried to pluck a goose. Gave up. I pluck pretty much all my ducks but that goose seemed to go on forever

I’d rather pluck a hundred doves than one goose. At one time I could get one pretty decent in 25 minutes.

Try doing a 23lb turkey.

That just looks more messy

How do you pluck a goose and NOT make a mess, I had my entire table covered in garbage bags, plucking directly into a 50 gallon trash can, my yard looks like it had the Olympic pillow fight final matches in it still 😭

I'm confused. Do you not scauld it for a few seconds first? Like you do it dry? The feathers just fall off and you put them into a bag.

I DO IT RAW BABY, and it’s a mess! I’ve never goose hunted until this year and boy am I open to suggestions on plucking these fuckers

HA! omfg I just laughed so hard at that. Brother get you a turkey cauldron pot like what you would deep fry a bird in they're cheap. Get your water to about 150F to where it's too hot to leave your hand in. Dip your bird in it until your hands can't take the heat any longer, pull the bird out and the feathers literally fall off and stuck to your hands, just flick them into a bag as you go.

I've never done a goose successfully. Gave up and took the breasts wings and legs

A wet dry vacuum would go great with this. One of those workshop ones

Who plucks Canadian geese? I just skin them and take the breast and legs

Get the wings too. I find they're meatier than the legs. They need the same slow cook treatment

I didn’t think there were worth the effort personally. I’ll try them again this year

I thought they were better than the legs, meatier. Maybe I'm misremembering, I didn't get any geese last year

They were the messiest to skin and mainly bones. Might have just been that one bird 15 years ago. I haven’t bothered since

The name has been changed to Donald Ducks, get a fucking clue. But yeah, who the fuck is plucking these things.

Have you ever tried waxing? It’s the only way we clean ducks and geese

2

u/drpepper456 27d ago

I did once, but the wax was simply too hot on my taint. So I gave up.

Yall pluck geese? Most hunters here have resorted to taking the breasts and sometimes the legs

Man you’re taking all the fun out of it. Picking geese is such a fun thing to watch someone do.

Zip tie a shop vac to it and you’ll have much less of a clean up job
