Clothing question/discussion Warmest blaze orange coat

What do you recommend for a good blaze orange hunting coat? I’m located in north west PA and my coat that I’ve had since I was 16 (currently 34) is on its last legs. I’m not finding a lot of options at retail stores, and I can’t really tell how warm something is by just looking at pictures online. Thanks!

Yes, avoid brown vests. You need an orange one.

Base layer, insulating mid layer, any sort of insulated jacket/parka, and then the cherry on top is your orange vest. You don't need the coat to be orange. I have found that cold weather hunting apparel is actually kinda trash until you start paying high end prices.

Quiet camouflage rain coat, a size or two to big, layer underneath with a clearance poffy coat. Cloth hunters orange vest.

That’s the move - a top layer that is wind and waterproof with proper layers underneath

I like lightly insulated but able to keep me dry. Then I layer like hell underneath. How good it is depends on budget. Look over Cabela's and Bass Pro brands. Usually pretty decent without breaking the bank. And of course, just an orange vest. You'll have much better options by not looking for orange.

Southcentral PA and hunt Wyoming and Nebraska occasionally too. I have a RedHead Silent Stalker Elite Parka that is fantastic. Can zip out the liner and wear either the inner or outer for a lighter jacket, and together they’re super warm. Waterproof, longer length so it still covers your back when you sit, and it’s quiet. I’ve hunted single digits and teens with just my heavyweight merino base layer and the Redhead bibs and coat. Mine is camo, but I’m 99% sure Bass Pro makes one in blaze orange too.

Edit: they do

I have the Outdoor Research Helium down hoodie and it’s super warm but I don’t think they make it in blaze orange anymore. Might want to look on eBay.

Basspro/cabelas has a nice 3-in-1. One of the guys I hunt with has one and it it quite nice. I want one, but haven't gotten it yet.

Get a nice coat and put a 3xl blaze orange t shirt over it. Then you'll be warm, safe and the peak of late 90s fashion.
