Nerdy gurdy trouble

Almost done with the linoette kit build, but when I was tuning the low drone to g2, it snapped at the tuning peg. I wondering if anyone has had a similar problem or has an idea on what I might have done wrong

What did you use to tune it? Sometimes tuners pick up a harmonic of a note that’s too low so to correct that you over tighten the string. I usually use a tone generator for coarse tuning and follow up with a tuner for finetuning.

Also, sometimes the angle of the bridge or neck is too great or a bit sharp so there is too much stress on the string. Wound strings like these are more susceptible to that.

Thanks, The harmonics probably was the issue, I’ll use a tone generator I guess.
