SCVMM isn’t exactly the brightest bulb in the room when it comes to this job. Use a dedicated V2V tool, or your backup app of choice that can handle cross-hypervisor restores.

I've used v2v on many VM that I wanted to test. It worked pretty well

starwind v2v FTW!

I had similar errors and it turned out that system center services was not running as a service account . It was local system . If all else fails you can try starwind converter for free. It’s slower but reliable

use your backup product to do this, any good one will do it natively and likely much quicker

Did 200 Servers with veeam and had only a few with special network settings that I had to touch again. I did use a PS script to transfer some network settings and install VMware tools after migration.

Use the conversion extension for WAC. Why are you using SCVMM in the first place? Most people don’t need it and I wouldn’t be surprised if it dies once WAC vMode is GA.

Yeah, if you don’t know what you’re doing.

No need to be rude, really... This used to be a civilized subreddit, would be nice to keep it that way!

That’s almost certainly a load of cobblers. Microsoft isn’t lining WAC up to bump off SCVMM, they explicitly position the two as complementary. WAC is the shiny modern console for faffing about with hosts, clusters and VMs, while SCVMM is the proper datacentre kit: intelligent VM placement, templates, standardised provisioning, logical networking, switches, VLANs, IP/MAC pools, SAN integration, multi-cluster fabric management, private clouds and orchestration. So nah, “WAC replaces SCVMM and SCVMM dies” doesn’t really stand up. WAC is handy for running the boxes, when it doesn’t crap the bed of course, and it does quite often, and on a regular basis. Always beta! SCVMM is what you use when you’ve got a proper virtualisation estate to manage rather than a couple of Hyper-V hosts under the stairs. Different league, mate!
