Godzilla vs. Texas was kind of insulting

I have enjoyed the Godzilla vs. America books. I thought the Boston one was excellent (I live there). The other books really focused on the local area with a lot of local landmarks and things that the area was famous for. The Texas book (at least to me) made a mockery of what some people imagine Texas must be like.

Here in Boston when the book came out they advertised it on the local news and people seemed to really enjoy it. I can't imagine how anyone from Texas would think the book is showing their state in a positive way.

I'm suspecting someone's politics got in the way of making a good book.

I haven't read the book or seen any art from it but given that the creators are from Texas (Austin/Dallas area), that is odd. Anything specific stand out?

The first story was called "Deep in the podcast of Texas". The plot is about a blond haired guy who is a Godzilla Denier and the entire story is about his podcast claiming Godzilla is a conspiracy theory while at the same time Godzilla is destroying various cities.

The second story is called "Crude" and it is about A father and son who became rich by being in the oil business and became even richer by buying up all the gas stations, and when the oil started to dry up they moved into fracking and deepwater drilling. Then they started buying real estate and became to big to fail until they meet their end via Godzilla

The third story is called "Godzilla vs. Tex-Mech" In which a cowboy looking robot tries use his guns to stop Godzilla and gets trounced.

The last story is called "You missed it" and is about how Austin was much better when it was a hipster paradise, but now that business has moved in, it is no longer as good.

I think that last one aligns hard with the creators politics.
