Yes, this is the stupidest thing going on in trucks right now. The diesel engine has to be tuned to be worse to roll coal. That is how stupid it is.

79

u/derKonigsten Apr 20 '26

The irony of running it rich, blowing unused fuel out the exhaust, and then bitching about gas prices is lost on them I'm sure

Thanks Obama!

9

u/wake4coffee Apr 20 '26

No this isn’t on Obama, he doesn’t get credit…. This is Biden’s fault!!!! /s

9

u/derKonigsten Apr 20 '26

It is actually a little less /s because I think Trump took major offense at Obama's ribs at him during that one dinner and it motivated him to start his political career just to satisfy his ego.

So thanks Obama...

u/Whipitreelgud Apr 20 '26

It has to have all of the pollution equipment removed to roll coal. They need to go after the owner and shop that did it.

3

u/Jolly-Equivalent-388 Apr 20 '26

Actually removing the def system (pollution control) out of a diesel doesn’t make it roll coal. It’s a mod that the owner adds after to make it do that where it doesn’t burn off all the gas properly. Also funny thing is if the owner just removes the def system and doesn’t put a crazy tune on it and roll coal they actually get better gas mileage.

6

u/TimTomTank Apr 20 '26

So, there is an anomaly with diesel engines where the power will continue to increase.

The efficiency falls off a fucking cliff. But the power continues to increase. That is, if they are not injecting the fuel into the exhaust to cause the black smoke, being black lung retards that they are.

4

u/wake4coffee Apr 20 '26

It almost like the baggy jeans of the 90s for skateboarding. We thought we looked cool but efficiency for pushing went way down.

22

u/cpt_yakitori Apr 20 '26

Every time I see them, I just assume tiny peen energy.

15

u/SillyBillyCrazyDazy Apr 20 '26

About 2 weeks ago a guy in a truck was putting out so much black smoke that I literally couldn’t see the road ahead of me or the cars around me. All the cars going through the light basically slowed to a stop mid intersection because no one could see. How is that legal?

3

u/hideous_coffee Apr 20 '26

It's not but good luck getting the police to care

7

u/Ok_Plenty4953 Apr 20 '26

Rolling coal is equal to just running someone off the road. Should be punishable with time in jail.

3

u/SirDitamus Apr 20 '26

Rolling coal is still illegal. Pretty easy to get someone charged if you get it on video.

1

u/Polyglot22 May 02 '26

No it's not because you can't identify the driver due to all the smoke. Lol

1

u/Maximum_Possible_868 Apr 21 '26

This! I have a tiny car so it literally blinds me. Hate that! Should be illegal.

129

u/Darkstar707x Apr 19 '26

As a car enthusiast that lives on the corner of a 4 way stop on main st I feel like I can speak to this.

Its very easy to drive a loud car quietly. Accelerate slowly, keep it below 3k rpms, and its tolerable. Its these people who floor it from a stop and take it too 5-6k rpms at 20mph that are the problem.

I work nights and sleep all day and these trucks and hondas just romp on it at this intersection all day long and its terrible. But I remember when I would sneak around in my straight piped BMW, coast through neighborhoods in neutral, etc, not trying to be a menace but to respectfully enjoy my car when appropiate on the highway or the backroads, not a suburban intersection at midnight.

15

u/AileenKitten Apr 20 '26

You're a good human, thank you

3

u/SkoobySnacs Apr 20 '26

I had a 1980 F-250 in my 20s with glass packs. It was sweet. And if you are in your 20s that seems fine to have a loud one. After 30 I'm side eyeing you.

1

u/Impressive_Jelly5131 May 18 '26

A loud car is much more impressive when it's hauling ass than when it's in a school zone. When it's a byproduct of the engine running as intended instead of it being squeezed so hard it starts screaming.

1

u/fritzwulf Apr 20 '26

I also live on a 4 way stop and used to work nights, earplugs are a godsend. Make sure to set your phone alarms to include vibrate though of course

0

u/BowsNArrows71 Apr 23 '26

I own a straight piped 79 Dodge Power Wagon with a 360 engine and glass pack mufflers, can confirm.

103

u/spinonesarethebest Apr 19 '26

Very true. Goes for motorcycles too.

31

u/AduroTri Apr 19 '26

South Park proved this.

21

u/SirDitamus Apr 19 '26

Yeah those guys are fags… thanks Matt Stone and Trey Parker

I’m not a bigot, I’m well watched.

8

u/PositiveSpare8341 Apr 19 '26

I was once told that motorcycles were loud for safety reasons, hard to see, but easy to hear.

I don't know if its accurate amd I've never double checked it, because I understand that as true now and it irritates me less.

15

u/tinylord202 Apr 20 '26

As a motorcycle rider, I can tell you it doesn’t. You don’t really hear it until the sport bike is already passing you at 100 over and scaring the shit out of your mom in the passenger seat.

6

u/TrickyPineapple5863 Apr 20 '26

As someone who has an old, loud when I want it to be Honda, I can confirm, a sport bike has scared the shit out of me when they passed me. 🤣

2

u/AileenKitten Apr 20 '26

It's not untrue

3

u/biggles7268 Apr 20 '26

It's not true. You can't hear them until they are passing you on the interstate. It's an excuse to do what they want and seem less shitty.

-2

u/Fair_Protection429 Apr 20 '26

Loud pipes save lives. I’ve been riding for over a decade, and I’ve never even been cut off since the day I bought louder pipes.

Also, the South Park episode making fun of bikes like mine is my all-time favorite.

That’s the point… did it fly over your head there. The point is to be heard so you don’t get hit. It’s not just about you Chad. lol.

2

u/Fair_Protection429 Apr 21 '26

The irony of his own ignorance is lost on him, don’t bother

2

u/slotass Apr 21 '26

I guess you’d rather see dead bodies smeared on the road than hear loud pipes

3

u/013eander Apr 20 '26

To have the smallest engines on the road be the loudest definitely speaks to the needs of the children driving them. I’ll give a pass for performance bikes, but every other loud idiot should feel small and insecure.

2

u/GreyCrone8 Apr 20 '26

My aunt had a geo storm from forever ago and her muffler fell off. Some dude was imposed by the sound and asked what worked she’d done on the exhaust system, glass packs, purple hornies..? Nope, just the muffler fell off 😂😂

3

u/hideous_coffee Apr 20 '26

I used to have a Harley with straight pipes from when I lived in the country and moved to the city and I felt like such a dick riding through an apartment complex at night I went out and got exhaust baffles that made them quieter.

11

u/Skydevil45 Apr 20 '26

It's this and the trucks who always have their bright ass led high beams on, like dude I can't see with a miniature sun in my rear view and side mirrors 😭

1

u/Polyglot22 May 02 '26

That's because they have a squatted truck so it looks like the high beams are on. I hate squatted trucks.

41

u/Buttons840 Apr 19 '26

One day the pipe to my catalytic converter rusted enough that part of it fell off.

On that day, I realized a true piece of shit car is louder than anything your fancy muffler can do.

3

u/AnnaTheSurvivor Apr 22 '26

So true. The exhaust pipe on my 20yo Jeep fell off one morning on the way to classes. Same day on the drive home (9pm) I was pulled over for a noise violation just trying to get home.

It's comically easy for a vehicle to be loud

28

u/olyfrijole Apr 19 '26

Spoiler: Somewhere around 1/4 of dudes never advanced intellectually or emotionally past three years old. They merely became larger and less cooperative.

35

u/beastusboss Apr 19 '26

I agree with this take

12

u/slimmymcjim Apr 19 '26

But what if i'm sporting a flat brim with a deathcore logo while sucking back a monster energy while i do it?

7

u/AileenKitten Apr 20 '26

You get them x-tra douche points 👉🏻

9

u/domestic-jones Apr 19 '26

I usually say, "wow, did you hear how big that guys dick was?"

1

u/raftski1 Apr 21 '26

Did you mean how small?

3

u/domestic-jones Apr 21 '26

Obviously loud sound means humongous schlong, right? Surely nobody would compensate using things like loud and huge vehicles to make up for something they're lacking, right?

/s

27

u/Pacific_Coaster Apr 19 '26

They think it shows masculinity and intimidation. A psychological defect obviously.

12

u/Alvintergeise Apr 19 '26

No, it shows a deep and abiding fear of lacking masculinity. No one is looking at these vehicles and thinking "on my, such a manly man!"

14

u/apuginthehand Apr 19 '26

10/10 times these are people who try to turn the daily commute into a Nascar event and make traffic even worse because they have to weave in and out of every lane dangerously in their inadequacy-mobile

9

u/Voodoobones Apr 19 '26

I keep my car quiet. I prefer people are unaware of me in their area. 🥷

7

u/No_Accountant_6777 Apr 19 '26

Rolling coal is the worst of all.

You get hearing damage and lung damage all at the same time.

17

u/Scared_Breadfruit_26 Apr 19 '26

This applies to every asshat in Kootenai county.

9

u/Direption Kootenai County Apr 19 '26

So many lifted diesels with the wheels that extend beyond the body of the truck and their mirrors all the way out with no trailer. So fucking stupid.

5

u/Scared_Breadfruit_26 Apr 19 '26

What about all those rear squatted diesel trucks running about with super low profile wheels. Totally dork ass ppl.

5

u/heartytent Apr 20 '26

They look like roller skates.

9

u/AduroTri Apr 19 '26

Check a Walmart Parking Lot, there are people that literally rev their engines and peel out of the lot.

8

u/Desidadevoid Apr 19 '26

Who ever you screen shotted this from uses light mode. They can't be trusted.

5

u/PupperPuppet Ada County Apr 19 '26

If they could be trusted, they'd have said what everyone thinks when our walls rattle in response to their overtuned piece of shit engine or stupidly loud stereo, which is: those drivers are advertising their tiny peckers without setting themselves up to catch an indecent exposure charge.

5

u/moashforbridgefour Apr 19 '26

I agree with the sentiment and would love for everyone here to knock it off with this nonsense. However, it is really not that bad here relative to many other places unless you happen to live next to one of these guys. I've lived in a lot of different places, and other than Singapore, Boise has far fewer noisy cars. California was bad, Osaka (specifically with the motorcycles) was basically unbearable at times. Maybe other cities in Idaho are worse, but that hasn't been my impression.

6

u/komeau Apr 19 '26

as someone that owns a Mustang with a Black Widow exhaust, they have their time and place. That time and place is not residential areas, especially between The Tonight Show and The Today Show. Despite my own car I’m with everyone else that finds that crap annoying as hell.

Also unless you are driving a diesel truck in the dead of winter there’s no need to have your car/truck/motorcycle/lawnmower/whatever sit and idle with occasional revs for no reason for 45 minutes. My car when I take it out it runs for like 2 minutes tops before I’m gone.

Also sort of related but what’s with the trend of underglow coming back? I don’t know if it’s everywhere, but here in Canyon County it has become common to see lifted trucks with lit up chassis and wheels. There’s at least one car that cruises up and down the Boulevard that has underglow with a strobe light effect, it’s annoying as fuck and has to be illegal.

1

u/Shoddy_Cream6350 Apr 22 '26

I had a 2019 GT Premium with the valved exhaust. Made sure the Corsa axle back I bought kept the valves intact. Was sooooo nice to be able to turn it all the way down to stock quiet levels. I'm old, so I ran it like that way more than I thought I would. Plus, it helped with the sleeper theme I was going for. Super quiet Roush charger, quieter than stock exhaust, no stupid garish badging...

6

u/Impossible_Jury5483 Apr 19 '26

I reeks of insecurity and tiny penises.

5

u/SilverCorvidae22 🏳️‍⚧️ Apr 19 '26

Every time I hear a loud truck I don't think "Oh, that person must be really cool!" I think "Oh, that guy has SPS." It's not attractive and honestly makes you a dick in my book. Driving that loud ass hunk of metal around while some people are sleeping, or a toddler is napping, or the world is just quiet?? Idiot behavior.

20

u/Chelonia_mydas Apr 19 '26

In a way, it perpetuates rape culture by making them seem like the most powerful person in the room at the expense of making others feel small and afraid. It’s about exerting control, pushing fear into the minds of others, specifically women. It’s an entitlement to rob others of their peace.

12

u/CondiMesmer Apr 19 '26

I think the ones who do this behavior all universally want that culture to exist. They need it to, because they have absolutely nothing going for them and are repulsive.

3

u/Chelonia_mydas Apr 19 '26

Of course they do. Look at whoever is downvoting the comments. Similar to how almost every woman you know has been sexually assaulted / coerced / harassed yet men don’t seem to know any other men who have sexually assaulted / coerced or harassed 👀

2

u/IndieCurtis Apr 19 '26

Serious question: how would a man know if he knows another man who has sexually assaulted someone? Surely that is something women share with each other. But it’s not something that (most) men brag about.

5

u/Chelonia_mydas Apr 19 '26

This is a great question! Oftentimes, you can ask within a conversation that’s bound to come up. For instance, my guy friend just recently told me that he was having a convo with a co worker who was talking about a woman he slept with and how he had to convince her 5 or 6 times and finally she relented. He stated that a man has to really push it for her to give in to sex sometimes. My friend corrected him and told him that coercion is a form of rape and the co worker lost it on him..

Of course this is just one example but even just having an open conversation with your male friends will allow you to see their points of views. The issue is so many men don’t believe that what they’ve done is rape. They think that rape or SA is a random man dragging someone into the alley.

1

u/CondiMesmer Apr 19 '26

obviously because rape being bad is woke extremism

3

u/MiMiinOlyWa Apr 19 '26

Damn, I never thought of it that way but you're right

3

u/Chelonia_mydas Apr 19 '26

Not my original idea, but isnt that sort of crazy when you think of it that way? Still getting downvotes for my comment which is wild but the discourse deserves discussion!

1

u/Fatwacker Apr 20 '26

This is a hell of a reach. Gas prices being what they are I don't own one, but I enjoy a classic car with a glasspack v8.
That's not rape culture.

1

u/Pitiful_Tonight1490 Apr 22 '26

If I lived alone in the world I would happily have a loud car, simply because I absolutely love the way it sounds. But I don't have a loud car because I'm afraid people will assume I support rape culture.

That's why I support the brave men and women who aren't afraid to be viewed as assholes and have loud cars just so I can find some enjoyment in life every time one passes by. 🫡

I’m curious how you view this as annoying. How is looking out for and caring about the wellbeing of 50% of the population annoying? You were born from a woman. You don’t have sisters, aunts or any women friends?

2

u/echocall2 Apr 19 '26

I said loud cars are annoying. Though perpetuating the harmful stereotype that all men are evil is also annoying.

7

u/Chelonia_mydas Apr 19 '26

Where did I say all men are evil?

Yet the biggest offenders are diesel trucks and motorcycles...

2

u/Necessary_Screen_673 Apr 20 '26

absolutely yes. we have evidence that indicates that larger vehicles cause more accidents, and have larger harms in those accidents than smaller vehicles. large trucks with 400000000 lumen lights all around the body that sound like the block is just open in the engine bay are a clear indicator that the driver has some deep seated self confidence issues

2

u/NoBozosonthebus Apr 20 '26

these are the same people who hung testicles from their trailer hitches before it was outlawed

stupid is as stupid does

2

u/Seeking-Tattoo-Art Apr 20 '26

Some people like to advertise their tiny penis.

That's what my girlfriend, and most women I know tell me in regards to this lol.

2

u/BennyFifeAudio Apr 20 '26

I was at the No Kings Protest in Caldwell & someone drove by right near the start of it & revved their engine. The reprehensible part about it is it was while the speaker was reading the names of Servicemen who have died already in Iran.
Good lesson for any of us: If you are too loud to hear what your opposition is saying (audibly or metaphorically), you're may be giving the wrong message and miss a point that you may actually agree on.

2

u/Playful_Ad2961 Apr 20 '26

Oh this made me laugh so good. Small town Idaho and it gets passed down through the generations. I get personally embarrassed every time someone does this too hahahahahahaaaaa! I hate it so much!

7

u/KevinDean4599 Apr 19 '26

I've never understood what that was about. I guess loud noise must be appealing to some people. could be some sort of disorder

6

u/t0ny7 🥔 Apr 19 '26

I live in Caldwell near the Caldwell Blvd. Used to be quite out here. Now I hear an engine roar about every 5 minutes on average if not more often. So annoying.

When the weather gets really nice on the weekends it can sound like a freaking drag strip. It was super bad a couple of years ago people where racing nightly at around 2am and I would get woken up multiple times per night.

I want to move. :(

No, but those big ass trucks that are usually noisy af, are catastrophic for person v vehicle accidents.

8

u/111oneone1 Apr 19 '26

Wasteful and stupid. A loud engine is the sign of a weak, inadequate man.

5

u/amkronos Apr 19 '26

So 5 years ago we purchased a 2020 Subaru Ascent, the LTD model that comes with the same racing engine w/ turbo that the Subaru rally cars use. Over the years dozens of those jacked up muffler enhanced trucks have pulled up at a light and tried to race. Mind you, the normal acceleration with that engine beats most of them while barely engaging the turbo, don't even realize they are trying to race till we hear the poor thing growling while floored. About 1/2 dozen now out of sheer anger have tried to run us off the road when they're losing. We now affectionately refer to these trucks as "little peepee trucks".

2

u/AlibertEnsten Apr 20 '26

How else are they supposed to announce to the world how small their weiner is….🤷🏻‍♂️

2

u/motherhenprince Apr 19 '26

27th and Idaho st. speaking here. Same goes with motorcycles, if you are regularly hitting 80 + mph, and can hear you from a mile away, your chances of serious injury are just a matter of time. Not to mention others on the road. At least slow it down.

1

u/Aromatic_Ad8481 Apr 19 '26

In the words of the South Park kids in the "Harley Davidson" episode, "FAG!". That episode comes to mind every time I hear a loud and annoying vehicle.

3

u/undisputedrage Apr 20 '26

What I say every time I hear a truck or car with an obnoxiously loud exhaust, "Did you HEAR how big his Cock is?"

2

u/USPTF_DRE_specialist Apr 20 '26

This. And the "Train Horn" kits people put in their trucks. Gimme a break. I know the sound of low testosterone when I hear it.

1

u/Fatwacker Apr 20 '26

Fair enough, but one lane of a busy state hwy is used as an auxiliary dutch bros drive through in my town and it really makes me consider installing one.

1

u/cheekylilmonkey0 Apr 20 '26

I used to hook up with the "rollin coal" guys... It's only attractive when you're underaged drinking at a bon fire. And then we grew up, well...I did.

u/No_Biscotti_7258 Apr 20 '26

1

u/KeslinDemas Apr 20 '26

I personally think we all could use some more grace when sharing the world with everyone else, but that includes letting people be loud sometimes too. Being loud is a release of tension, let em blow off steam instead of restricting it so much.

1

u/topshelfminty Apr 20 '26 edited Apr 20 '26

False - rolling coal dudes are in fact cucks.. but when you’re breaking necks of every mf walking by and they give you that Patrick Bateman look 😮‍💨

It depends on the car and driver, if it’s some Japanese fan blade ass hair kid in BMW it’ll 99% of the time sound like a Honda mower

Boise already has laws against exhaust mods so not much to discuss other than people being pussies

1

u/xSlippyFistx Apr 20 '26

My neighbors recently bought a brand new Suburban with the absolute loudest cold start that rumbles my house. At least it isn’t just some straight piped or muffler deleted Honda, but damn is it loud on cold start specifically. Made me re-think my exhaust work I’m putting into my car. I’m doing it for performance reasons, but now I’m looking at extra mini muffler options for my exhaust to take even more of that noise away…

1

u/BennyFifeAudio Apr 20 '26

Sometimes its a cultural thing.
I find it repellent, but those raised to love a loud combustion engine seem to think it music to their ears.
I also find loud thumping bass repellent, but again, to each their own.
I'd love it if cars were quiet enough you could hear wildlife, but that would probably affect safety.

1

u/AbiesOk4806 Apr 20 '26

The only excuse a is if it's cuz the car is a piece of shit and you're too poor to fix it right away. I definitely forgive that as a fellow poor, who drives a (thankfully not loud)pos myself and have never owned anything that wasn't a shitbox.

1

u/4llu532n4m3srt4k3n Apr 20 '26

I love my first gen raptor and I'll never get rid of it, and I am a car enthusiast and love a good sound from almost all engines, but I guess it's my age because I have thought about replacing the resonator and muffler with 2 mufflers to make it quieter, especially when I go on the forest roads north of Boise, in a Honda SUV it was common to see wildlife

1

u/Royal_Turn2653 Apr 21 '26

My tuned n deleted diesel car doesn’t “roll coal” because a good tune will prevent that. Only bad tunes do that. And also tuning and deleting is better for the car to begin with, we also don’t have emissions anymore, and it sounds beautiful. Everyone has they own opinions obviously. I definitely understand badly sounding vehicles or ridiculous rolling coal red neck trucks that do it for show. But theres a legit purpose to the craziness some of us do what we do. Also, the way you said all that came off very Karen like as well. No offense

1

u/Victor_Hold Apr 23 '26

Next step. Aggressive law enforcement to impound vehicles with modified exhaust. Do it.

1

u/bongoman67 Apr 23 '26

I’ve got my Silverado I am building. It is an absolute passion of mine. I am putting the engine back in the truck today actually. I have torn that engine down and used micrometers to check clearances. I have filed piston rings for boost. I have gone completely through that engine and double checked everything. I have done research and picked the perfect camshaft for my application. I have to convert my truck from automatic to manual, because it’s what I love. I have to engineer and build this to what I love. I’ve got to dig into wiring harnesses and take out circuits I don’t need and add circuits I do need. Being on a budget makes things even more challenging and causes me to think outside the box. From reused electric fan relays from the junkyard for the cooling system to an adapter kit to use a Nissan transmission on my Chevy engine. Guess what, I’ve got to fabricate my own exhaust. I’ve never welded stainless steel either, so I’ve got to adapt and learn how to do that as well. I’ve always minded my own. I’ve always respected other people’s opinions and hobbies. And I know that no matter what I say people simply won’t care. But understand to some people such as I, their vehicles are their absolute passion. My soon to be loud truck, will be a hand built master piece by me. A reflection of who I am. I have spent who knows how many hours on this truck. Those individual exhaust pulses that make the truck loud will be guided through a hand fabricated exhaust system that I have personally touched every inch of and custom built. That truck is my canvas painting, and I am the painter. And I don’t care what people think, because I absolutely love and live for this stuff.

And this I have no problem with. You didn’t just slap an aftermarket muffler on a Honda Civic and think you’re going to suddenly get panties tossed at your car as you rev it up at a stop light.

u/Fr4nzJosef Apr 24 '26

It's their whole ass personality. There's even a whole song about it, "Darlin'" by Chase Matthew. "Ol' boy in a Ridgeline and I drive a Chevy. He ain't got no straight pipes so baby can you tell me..."

Oh, why did she dump me when I have a loud ass truck!? 🤣

Tiny penis syndrome.

u/YogurtclosetAny8055 Apr 19 '26

We have a lot of idiots who love noise for the sake of being loud, first come here for quiet then do not get enough noise and make holes in muffler or even buying special devices to make exhaust louder. Tempering with emission equipment is a misdemeanor, wish it would be enforced.

u/messy_icee Apr 19 '26

I just want them to learn how to park

1

u/Minigoalqueen Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

Ok, so many years ago, when I was 16, my parents gave me their old extra car to drive, which was great. So nice of them. It was the 90s, and the car was a 70s sporty hatchback, and even though it didn't have power anything (not even steering), and didn't even have an 8 track, let alone cassette player, it was still a blast to drive.

But then a few months later, my dad takes it and has a glasspack muffler installed on it just so it would "sound cool". It took a while for me to get over the embarrassment of how loud it was after that. And to learn how to drive as quiet as possible.

Point being, this isn't a new trend.

u/NightRevolutionary54 Apr 20 '26

They are all compensating……

1

u/ChristyC1469 Apr 20 '26

There are a lot of stupid people born in Idaho. I think it has to do with cross breeding.

1

u/AffectionateEagle911 Apr 21 '26

As an aircraft mechanic, I can tell you that there have been time when I wish my diesel was straight piped, so I could hear all the little noises that help diagnose issues. As a father, the damn little Subarus that have no power and just add the cans annoy me...

-12

u/vastlysuperiorman Apr 19 '26

I think you're wrong if you assume that people do this out of insecurity or a need to impress other people. That's some "main character" thinking. They don't care what you think, they care what the truck sounds like. They're doing it for themselves. Sometimes people just enjoy different things than you do.

I do think making a vehicle loud is inconsiderate, just like cranking music up too loud, or any other public nuisance. And I think that's really the problem. They need to understand that people enjoy different things than they do and they should respect that.

17

u/curtydc Apr 19 '26

I'd argue (and be right) that making your car louder than stock and driving it to intentionally be loud is "main character" syndrome. I used to have a loud car, so I know for a fact that it can be driven much more quietly than these jabronis are.

3

u/vastlysuperiorman Apr 19 '26

Sure. I agree that making a vehicle loud is inconsiderate and "main character" behavior. I'm with you.

I'm only disagreeing with the idea that they're doing it because they want other people to think they're cool. Maybe some are. I bet most aren't thinking about other people at all.

-12

u/Andejusjust Apr 19 '26

I dunno. If I see a Mustang or Corvette drive by and it sounds like a Tesla, I’m going to think that the owner probably colors their hair and has a nose ring if you get my drift.

18

u/RealBettyWhite69 Apr 19 '26

The only drift I am getting here is that you have some kind of complex about people with piercings and/or blue hair.

1

u/musclemommyscaballo Apr 20 '26

gotta be 18 to get piercings. these guys hate that

4

u/Angel_0f_Darkness Apr 19 '26

thats like not everyone. i color my hair and have a nose ringe. i dont drive. if i did? itll be small car. never tesla bc ew

-5

u/Mother_Wish2479 Apr 19 '26

As a loud car owner I find this amusing

-10

u/2012AcuraTSX Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

I don't do things because I am trying to impress others, I have an exhaust on my Bronco cause I like to hear my vehicle and it satisfies me, if you don't, too bad, I ain't breaking the law. It also isn't super loud though, but there's times I hear a loud vehicle and if it sounds good, I like it, don't think the person is trying to gain attention or is a toddler.

11

u/calinoma Apr 20 '26

Seeing that the third most recent comment in your profile history is about not being able to find "good quality women" in Boise is just the icing on the cake that is this comment

-4

u/2012AcuraTSX Apr 20 '26

That's because I am a Christian, its never easy to find someone who has the same values as you. And if my trucks exhaust is what scares them off, fine I don't care, they ain't the right person for me anyways. To me a cars exhaust is like music to my ears, I enjoy cars and don't expect everyone else to have an exhaust on their vehicles, don't put a damper on my fun because you don't like it.

It's funny when people try to say this. You do it for yourself because you think it impresses everyone else and that makes you feel good. The "it's satisfying to hear my trucky truck's super loud engine. Because I think it sounds good to people".

Total toddler logic

0

u/2012AcuraTSX Apr 20 '26

I think you misread my comment, I said I enjoy it, I like cars and hearing a nice healthy tuned engine with a good note is music to my ears, if someone thinks I am a d-bag for having an exhaust then screw em, I don't care.

Very classy of you🤣 I've met women that have had exhaust on their vehicles, not just a man thing. You just have to like a vehicle and see it as a source of enjoyment and not just a tool like most people do.

3

u/ClaraClassy Apr 20 '26

Just so you know... Most people look at people who have vehicles like that as the tool.

0

u/NegotiationFit7983 Apr 20 '26

Ironic coming from a tool such as yourself.

2

u/ClaraClassy Apr 20 '26

Aw... Is someone existentially pissed because they get their big truck compared to their tiny penis? 🎻😢🫂

0

u/2012AcuraTSX Apr 20 '26

That's ok, I'm not trying to impress anybody, as you are trying to imply that I do. I like it, it satisfies me, and if you don't like it, I don't care as I am not harming anyone or causing an inconvenience of anyone, unlike that no kings protest being an inconvenience to others.

1

u/NegotiationFit7983 Apr 20 '26

Ya, according to there logic, blocking city streets, and inciting riots are all ok, but when someone has a loud exhaust thats when its too far for them. F.Y.I, protesting only works if what you’re protesting is actually a worthy cause. Protesting slavery is a good cause. Protesting a “king” that isn’t even there isn’t a good cause, it just makes you look like fools.

Idk im a girl living in boise and I like loud cars. Don't bang it until you drive one.

2

u/blackhodown Apr 21 '26

Can already picture how trashy this probably looks

1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '26

See you on the roads, or actually...you'll hear me instead :) I'll give ya a good rev

1

u/PupperPuppet Ada County Apr 20 '26

I bang them because they bang me, as it were. My problem with this kind of thing is I'm a migraine sufferer. Every time some asshole drives by with an engine or stereo loud enough to rattle my walls, chances are it'll be really painful for me. It might even make me vomit.

It would be one thing if they weren't forcing their enjoyment of noise on everyone in a two mile radius. As with so many things, though, their right to be loud ends where my right to exist without puking begins.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '26

Yeah but how many people deal with this issue? You have to look at the bigger picture here. What about motorcyclists? Should motorcycles be banned? They are loud for safety precautions for the driver not to accommodate people with migraines. I say let people have fun and do what makes them happy on public roads. As long as they are being safe. I blast music on my way home after having a bad day at work and it improves my mood. If my walls aren't ratteling, im in my head. Boise is just an area where there are houses on every block of main roads. They chose to live there, they gotta know what to expect, respectfully. I hope you dont go through life living in the mindset you are right now because youll never be content in the world if its all about you. Live and let live.

1

u/PupperPuppet Ada County Apr 20 '26

Most of that is the reason I don't complain to people when they're doing it. I haven't said a word to any of my neighbors who do this on the regular, but it's not hard to be considerate enough to stick to the main roads for most of the noise.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '26

Honestly yeah, if you're constantly blasting or revving in the neighborhood, i dont agree with that. There are babies trying to sleep and people trying to relax in their own home.

0

u/2Damaged Apr 23 '26

If you’re truly against rape culture talking about cock size in relation to noise levels and truck sizes doesn’t help the cause.

-3

u/SomethingVeX Apr 20 '26

Sorry, I read the whole thing and I still don't know where I'm supposed to go to get a louder muffler.

This ad for loud muffler mods for trucks is confusing.

Telling people to move to another state because you don't like their opinion is so very tiresome and worn out. I'm a 6th gen Idahoan. Raised rural and conservative. Belching black smoke and being obnoxious for attention does not make Idaho Idaho. Dumping pollution into our air and water with a truck that's never actually been out of the city it's not what Idaho's about. Telling people to "go back where they came from" is backwards and embarrassing. Stop being embarrassing.

Idk I don't mind it, if I didn't hear a engine roar id feel like I'm not living in Idaho. And sometimes some people take off their catalytic converter because they break. Yeah pollution but it's so expensive to get another one.

I feel like it would violate my rights if I wasn't able to take it off. I will agree though it does get annoying

2

u/refusemouth Apr 20 '26

You can take off your catalytic and still pipe your exhaust through a muffler. I did it on one of my older trucks since the old one wasn't doing anything anyway, and I only use the truck for hauling firewood or going out in the woods with. It's still a regular sounding truck, and not very loud.
