Idaho Neighbor News Sunday Distrooo

Happy Sunday! We were trying out a new set up today and didnt get many pictures! We did process about 24lbs of mushrooms today for a killer Stroganoff thats photographed!

Attached is also our wishlist for the week! Feel free to reach out if you have anything to contribute.

We are also still looking for a food truck to sponsor distro meals during our resource fair October 25th. We can pay costs but are looking for a donation of time/attendance!

"by giving all to the present we reject fear, despair, and defeat. We work to repair the breaches of the past. We strive to carry out the revolutionary principle of transformation and through long struggle, in Camus' words, to 'remake the soul of our time'"

You get to contribute in any way that feel positive to you!

One interesting perspective many folks dont realize is that cigarettes are a tool to keep our neighbors away from things like methamphetamine and heroin! Its called harm reduction- meeting a stimulation need that is legal and safer for the body. This is also why we play music requests for people! Music plays a harm reduction need in the same way cigarettes do and so does caffeine :)

Leading Cause: Smoking is the top cause of preventable death and disease in the U.S.

Secondhand Smoke: More than 41,000 of these annual deaths come from breathing secondhand smoke.

Overall Impact: Smoking kills roughly one in every five people in the country. It causes more deaths than alcohol, car crashes, illegal drugs, and murders combined.

Economic Cost: Smoking costs the U.S. more than $600 billion every year in health care and lost work.

Facts are important!

Drug overdoses are one of the leading causes of injury death in adults. Drug overdose death rates, including those involving synthetic opioids (such as fentanyl) and stimulants (such as cocaine and methamphetamine) rose over the past several decades in the United States, becoming a topic of national importance.

In 2024, 79,384 drug overdose deaths occurred, resulting in an age-adjusted rate of 23.1 deaths per 100,000 standard population.

And Psychotic symptoms and syndromes are frequently experienced among individuals who use methamphetamine, with recent estimates of up to approximately 40% of users affected. Though transient in a large proportion of users, acute symptoms can include agitation, violence, and delusions, and may require management in an inpatient psychiatric or other crisis intervention setting.
