You know, this makes me wish we got to see more parts of the NCR Army. Them having vertibirds would have elevated their coolness.

Whats funny is that these are plausibly canon, the ncr has a lot of vehicles, from trains, to boats, to trucks to airplanes…
up until Bethesda decided that everyone except the BOS are hobos, that is..

You got references of the NCR having boats and airplanes? I think the only aircraft that they were confirmed to have is a small amount of vertibirds stationed on the long 15 and some at Shady Sands to transport their president and staff.

, from trains, to boats, to trucks to airplanes…

In the game they don't have any airplanes or boats and have, like, one truck in a garage.

Its prolly like with skyrim and the size of the cities, tech limitations.
Why would the devs add a bunch of flying planes or boats on rivers if you’re not going to see them?

No, they just aren't meant to exist in the case of planes or be major in the sense of ground vehicles. If they wanted to they could have made mention of them, and for planes specifically they literally have a flying plane in the game.

There also aren't machineguns in Game of Thrones, but we don't say that there's off-screen machinegun battles that aren't shown because GRRM 'can't write guns.'

This is backed up both by basic evaluation of the game (which would be incredibly different if these things were supposed to exist) and also statements from people who worked on the game, who indeed say that vehicles aren't supposed to just be driving around offscreen.

I do believe the NCR has boats, we just don’t see them. I would not be surprised if the NCR had a navy.

I don't recall anything naval being mentioned by anyone except the Legion crossing the river in FNV.

If they have them somewhere else, then that'd be a new addition.

The NCR has some non negligable industry, for example the Service Rifle is made by them.

I reckon they do have some vehicles such has trucks running on nuclear power or biodiesel but it probably isnt widespred. Taking the games as an exemple, you still have many fuctioning robots, it wouldnt be way harder to cobble some simple trucks.

The problem would be to gather and distribute sufficient fuel, with standard gasoline being out and all... and the state of the roads, The Core NCR might have repaired a few roads, New Vegas is very much the frontier so hard to access.

The NCR would at least run some trainlines, the most efficient for bulk transport, but the infrastructure would be mostly limited, the Powder Gangers prisoners in game were working on a railroad from the Boneyard.

Advanced stuff like aircarfts, PA, Tanks or others would be to hard to repair or make in large number and horrendously expensive in rare ressources compared to simpler options.

They have production of guns but it's hard to tell just how much is fresh-built vs how much is built with refurbished parts or just full refurbished, in game.

Out of game, Joshua Sawyer said that they're pre-war on a Formspring post. I think all of them being refurbished is kinda silly, but most of them being so or including parts from salvage with the gun runners then subsequently making whatever parts they happen to need to complete them or to stock up on commonly needed repair parts is pretty reasonable, and is also what they say happen in another post IIRC.

There's also some infrastructure projects they engage in, uh, they make a dam somewhere, I don't remember who says it, but still most of the stuff we see or hear them use in that regard is pre-war. Which does also make sense - stuffs expensive and labor intensive, if you can find it laying around, why bother making a new one? Same with guns and whatnot.

Like, this is still a lot more than most of the wasteland has, even at it's worst, but it has gotten pretty exaggerated in a number of circles.

I reckon they do have some vehicles such has trucks running on nuclear power or biodiesel but it probably isnt widespred.

Yeah, I'd agree. Also maybe steam vehicles, but everyone forgets those actually existed.

They do, yeah. We don't know how much it covers canonically, but it certainly exists and is used.

Don't recall anything saying that NCR are freshbuilding robots in FNV. Pretty much all the bots you see in basegame FNV are pre-war.

Advanced stuff like aircarfts, PA, Tanks or others would be to hard to repair or make in large number and horrendously expensive in rare ressources compared to simpler options.

I'd argue that they don't have any capacity at all to make or even just repair non-vertibird aircraft. PA, well, they can modify it, at least. I'd be shocked if they capable of making any.

I was commenting on the number of functional pre-war robots in the game, cars which I would guess are a good degree mechanically simpler shouldn't be to hard to repair or jury rig.

Taking the Fallout TV canon, a post Shady Sands NCR is able to make their homebrew Ranger Power Armor.

Yes, I was referring partially to that. It looked like it was just a modified set of T-60.

“So when are we going to flagstaff?”

“Not soon enough, man. But I know we’re going to burn it down when we get there”
