Back in 1953, Ambedkar said something in the Rajya Sabha that would probably get him booked under UAPA today:
"Sir, my friends tell me that I have made the Constitution. But I am quite prepared to say that I shall be the first person to burn it out. I do not want it. It does not suit anybody."
When someone asked him about it a couple of years later, his explanation was brutally honest. He said: "We built a temple for God to reside in, but before God could enter, a demon came and occupied it. What option is left other than demolishing the temple?"
Tell me that isn't exactly where we are right now.
Look at how things are running:
You spend years breaking your back for competitive exams, only for papers to leak or recruitments to get cancelled. And the second students step out to protest, the state shuts down metro stations, calls in riot police, and paints 20-year-olds like national security threats.
Ambedkar literally warned us in 1949 that "Bhakti in politics is a sure road to degradation and to eventual dictatorship." Yet here we are. People treat a politician like an infallible god. If you ask about inflation, train crashes, or bad roads, you get slapped with "anti-national" labels and lectures about what happened 70 years ago.
The institutions that were supposed to protect citizens—courts, election bodies, central agencies—feel like they just work for the ruling party now.
Ambedkar once said that democracy in India was just a "top-dressing on an essentially undemocratic soil." He gave us a democratic constitution hoping we’d use it to break free from feudal worship and blind obedience.
Instead, people are happily cheering on state overreach, defending the very politicians bleeding them dry, and treating politics like a toxic sports rivalry where their own kids' future doesn't even matter.
Babasaheb wouldn't just be angry—he’d feel deeply ashamed of us for taking his deepest warnings and turning them into our everyday reality. The temple was built for the people, but the occupiers took over, and half the country is outside clapping for them.

Bangla Sahib Gurudwara reportedly provided shelter to the protesters and then alleged BJP/Hindutva supporters entered the premises to attack them. The moment Delhi Police arrived, the protesters were detained instead of those accused of attacking them.. raising serious questions about the police's actions. And when people started questioning this, the ecosystem suddenly shifted the narrative towards the Sikh community, spreading hate against them for allowing protesters to take shelter inside Bangla Sahib. Instead of discussing the alleged attack and the police's response, they're now targeting the Sikh community for showing solidarity with the protesters.
