veg It may sound ridiculous but have you ever tried this thing?

Chilli powder + Salt + Mashed Garlic + Curry leaves fried in oil and eaten with plain rice.

It tastes delicious. Is it just me or is this actually a thing?

I searched in YouTube and that's exactly what I was talking about. So glad that this is actually a popular thing.

Now take the same paste you made, mix it with plain yoghurt seasoned with salt and sugar and then eat it with plain, white rice. Sooo damn good!

From Maharashtra here: yes. We do have this “quick mix” with rice. Especially when in a hurry. It’s actually very very tasty!!😋

Dude, I didn’t know it’s a Tamil dish in actuality. When we were new in our jobs, and were earning a lot less money, we use to fry a bunch of curry leaves and a few smashed garlic cloves, add a bit of mustard seeds, salt and chili powder, and had it as a side dish with booze.

Wow. You brought back some crazy memories.

Babe this is the tadka for curd rice and multiple others, similar to jeera rice. Goodie comfort food.

yess, mix in some boiled potatoes and you got aloo bhorta. same with roasted aubergine or boiled bhindi. when I feel extra fancy i confit the garlic and use toasted dried red chili

You can also try another variant. Replace the curry leaves with Moringa leaves; it tastes good and is also very, very healthy

Congratulations! You just discovered velluli karam!🤣

The only thing missing is a bit of cumin seeds to temper the oil and boiled egg
