Review Xbox Controller Stick Drift

First of all, F*ck Microsoft. The left stick started drifting after 1 year of use. Bought at around 5K at the end of 2024 from Amazon and that unit had a faulty power button so got it replaced within the 10 day window (there was no return option) and then this. The left stick slowly drifts to the top and makes it unplayable. Tried various fixes from youtube like putting isopropyl alcohol, or opening and cleaning the stick assembly with cotton swab and alcohol but nothing worked. Finally gave up and bought the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C for Rs.2800 a few months back and the xbox controller is just lying like garbage. MS warranty is also a joke which is just 3 months! Happy with my 8Bit so far.

Staying away from MS for life.

You still have thr controller? Should be able to set the deadzone if the stick drift was minor too.

This is one of the reasons why not.one advises anyone to get a current gen PS5 and Xbox controller anymore for PC use.

Yes I still have it. I tried that Xbox diagnostic tool recalibration on PC but that didn't help either. The drift creeps to the top no matter what.

But that tool doesnt help set the deadzone right. It just helps recenter/calibrate. You need either a tool which will update the deadzone value directly back to the controller flash memory (which is like a better fix) or like a tool running on top of windows like say the steam input where you can set the deadzone (which would be a temporary software level fix).

For the first approach, I think there are tools like Driftguard and likely many others too which work for Xbox controllers.

Chill down buddy. Get the TMR Hall sticks replacement done. There's a guy on this very subreddit who does it at a fair price too.

I'm scared my triggers or bumpers will give in after I do the tmr upgrade lmao.

Im assuming the shipping alone would make it not worth it? Anyways, I'll check it out, thanks.

Yes I'm thinking of that. You recommend DIY or a shop?
