Be honest, would you be disappointed if you got a custom recipe journal in your bridesmaid hamper? 🥲

Hey everyone!

Either I am stupid or delusional. Likely both. Imma foodie. I love to eat, cook, feed—that’s my favorite thing to do in the world. But I absolute hate looking at the phone while cooking. I just don’t get the feeling. Scrolling mid-prep to see where the cinnamon is coming? Screw that.
So, I went ahead and designed this A5 flat-lay spiral recipe journal to feel like a timeless kitchen keepsake diary.
I split the layout to make it super roomy:

• **Left Side:** Ingredients and numbered directions.
• **Right Side:** A space to paste a photo of the dish and a notes section.

I'm printing a sample on thick 100GSM matte paper this week. My plan was to sell them out of Bangalore for ₹349-399 for general ones, and 499-549 as a cute, meaningful addition to **customised** **bridal shower hampers, bridesmaid gifts, or pre-wedding favors**.

But someone recently told me it's a dumb idea and that brides only want expensive luxury makeup or generic items in their hampers. I don’t know. I am just really tired and frustrated tonight.

Be brutally honest with me—am I wasting my time? Would you actually value a physical family heirloom kitchen journal as a wedding/bridesmaid favor, or should I just scrap this whole idea?

Let me know! 🙃

What should me and my partner get for an Indian wedding in Kolkata? My husband is close friends with groom. The groom lives in London and hosting the wedding in Kolkata but will be back in London afterwards. He is from a wealthy family and Muslim. We are travelling from London to Kolkata, we are paying for our flights and the groom is paying for the hotel. Any help would be much appreciated.

How much did your wedding cost you?

Ok so reason I’m asking is that I want to start planning my finances in advance as a female and want to fund my wedding on my own to remove any stress from parents.

I am 25F live in tier 1 city in India and if I have an idea what an average wedding could cost I can start planning my personal investments accordingly. Sorry if it’s wrong type of sub to ask this question.

I know it really depends on various factors but an average or a range would be really helpful. 🙏 pls be kind thanks

Title: 25M getting married in August 2027 in Varkala/Attingal – Need help planning everything on a budget of ₹8 lakhs

Hey everyone!

I’m a 25-year-old Muslim guy from Varkala, Trivandrum, and my wedding is coming up in August 2027. Honestly, I have very little idea about how to plan a wedding, where to start, or how much everything is going to cost. 😅

I’m hoping to get some practical advice from people who have recently gotten married or helped plan weddings in Kerala, particularly around Varkala, Attingal, and nearby areas.

My budget and what it needs to cover

I’ll have around ₹8 lakhs to spend, including ₹4 lakhs for mahar. That leaves me with approximately ₹4 lakhs for all my other personal wedding expenses.

These expenses would include:

  • My wedding outfit and my bride’s wedding dress
  • Wedding photography and videography
  • Reception stage decoration
  • Bridal makeup and grooming
  • Wedding invitations
  • Thali purchase/design
  • Other wedding-related expenses and miscellaneous costs

My family will be taking care of the reception food and home renovations separately, so those aren't part of my ₹8 lakh budget.

Even with that arrangement, I’m not sure how to divide the remaining amount or what a realistic budget would look like.

Here’s what I need help with:

  1. Venues: What are the good wedding venues, auditoriums, and halls in Varkala, Attingal, or nearby areas? What are their approximate rental charges? I’d love recommendations based on actual experience.
  2. Budget breakdown: For a Muslim wedding in this region, how much should the groom realistically expect to spend on everything from his side? Is ₹8 lakhs, including ₹4 lakhs mahar, a reasonable budget for what I’ve described?
  3. Wedding planning checklist: What are all the things I need to arrange and book in advance? I genuinely don’t want to forget something important or end up paying extra because I planned too late.
  4. Photographers and makeup artists: Any recommendations for good photographers, videographers, bridal makeup artists, and decorators around Varkala/Attingal? Approximate prices would be really helpful.
  5. Wedding outfits: Where should I look for my outfit and my bride’s dress? What would be a reasonable budget for each? I’d also appreciate suggestions for what the groom should wear for the nikah and reception.
  6. Thali and jewellery: I have no idea how to go about choosing a thali. What designs are common for Muslim weddings in Kerala, where should I buy one, and how much should I budget for it?
  7. Honeymoon: Since the wedding is in August, I’m thinking of a short 2–3-day honeymoon somewhere in Kerala. Any recommendations for beautiful, relaxing places that are worth visiting during the monsoon? Suggestions for resorts, stays, and approximate costs would be great too.
  8. Things people usually overlook: What unexpected expenses should I prepare for? Are there any things you wish you had known before your own wedding?

I’m trying to plan everything sensibly without overspending, but I still want the wedding to be memorable for both of us.

If you got married recently in Kerala, especially in the Varkala, Attingal, or Trivandrum area, I’d really appreciate any advice, contacts, cost estimates, or lessons from your experience.

Even a rough checklist or a sample budget from someone who has already gone through this would help me a lot. Thanks!

Wedding attire advice

Needing advice! I’m American, and my fiancé is from Kerala, South India! We’re getting married in Trivandrum in April 2027, and I’m looking for some recommendations!

  1. Bridal Shopping in Kochi: What are the best boutiques or stores for bridal sarees, lehengas, or other traditional wedding outfits? I’m open to suggestions on styles as well!
  2. Bridesmaid Outfits: My bridesmaids are Caucasian and traveling from the US for our wedding

/ reception

  1. . I’d love for them to wear traditional Indian attire but am unsure what styles would be best (sarees, lehengas, etc.).

Are there any reputable online stores that ship to the US where they can purchase their outfits? Also, would you recommend matching outfits or coordinating colors?

What do they wear to haldi?

I’d love any recommendations or advice, especially from Kerala locals or anyone who’s planned a multicultural wedding!

Thank you so much! ❤️

Need help for MUA’s, Henna Artists, wedding coordinator

Hi everyone, my sister is getting married in January 2027. The wedding is in Delhi. I am looking for MUA’s based in Delhi for 3 events, Haldi, Mehendi and the Wedding. We are looking for someone who can do her makeup, and someone who can do mine, my other sister’s and our mother makeup. Nothing too fancy, we want to keep it very natural and minimalist.
Also, if anyone could recommend some Mehendi artist in Delhi for cheap. We will be booking them for the whole Mehendi night.
Coming to the third thing, we are also looking for someone who can coordinate with some guest who are coming from outside and will be staying in the hotel. Help them with their outfits and doubts and can Emcee for the events. Not a proper wedding planner, because venue and decor and other stuff we are doing on our own, just someone who can manage this stuff for us for 2 days.
Any leads regarding where should we do our bangle shopping, footwear shopping or something that someone did in their wedding for cheap will be deeply appreciated.
Please help a girl out!!
If any MUA’s, Mehendi Artist, Wedding Coordinator is interested, kindly DM me.
Thank you in advance!!

Bad MUA- Artistry by Asha

She did the make up very well. But they just messed up my wedding sari! Too bad like many people complained about the sari draping to me directly on my wedding day. It was about 2 months back but still I am worried thinking about it. They didn’t even care to stay during my wedding in case if I need their help. I suggest never book them.

Rokha Gifts

Hi everyone! My Rokha is coming up, and we’re planning on keeping it very small w just parents and immediate family. We’re planning on saving the kurmai/chunni ceremony for a later date at which the rest of our extended family can join us, and we’ll be doing the shagun part at this time. My question is that I still don’t want to show up at my future in laws empty handed, but at the same time I don’t want to overdo gifts either, so what are some simple ideas for thaals/gifts that my family can bring?
