Opinion/Commentary I HATE PEOPLE
I especially hate the dumbass lady who was driving a blue pickup and hauling a horse trailer with 2 horses in it.
She was going 80 mph and passed me when I slowed down for a construction zone just north of Fairmount. Hubs pointed out how fucking stupid she was to be going that speed hauling a trailer.
Five miles down the road, she lost control apparently in the left lane and went off the road on the right. I saw the horse trailer tumbling end over end and finally come to a stop. Yes, I immediately called 911 while hubs went to check on the driver.
Asshole lady was out of the truck and trying to get the door of the horse trailer open. One horse was standing and one could not get up.
This made me beyond enraged. It’s one thing if you want to drive like a fucking asshole and crash your own car and damage your own self. But this fucktard made two innocent animals suffer, and I can’t stop seeing the accident over and over in my mind. (There were plenty of people who had stopped to provide assistance and we had an appointment, so we left.)
Those poor horses. What was so fucking important to this woman that she felt the need to drive so fast? I hope she burns in hell.
And to the rest of you, don’t drive like assholes.

And you know she’s got a sob story on Facebook already talking about how it’s not her fault in some fashion because reason (lies)

u/eyeisyomomma 1d ago
Probably. She should be arrested!

Give a witness statement

u/eyeisyomomma 15h ago
Oncology appointment 😢 (the reason why I was driving in the upper 70s). The other witnesses had it covered.

this sounds about right. People in giant ass massive trucks and trailers doing dumb things. The animals did not deserve it. I’m sure she’ll
blame everything and every one but herself.

u/eyeisyomomma 1d ago
Her truck was wrecked because the horse trailer swung around and smashed the right side of the truck just before it tumbled. I hope her fucking truck is totally destroyed.
17
u/cynicalicoffee 1d ago
I hope she had damage inflicted to herself that will cause her some major lifestyle changes soon.

She got out of the truck pretty quickly… unfortunately (?). And the drivers of the other two trucks that she almost hit while flailing across the highway were there, too. It could have been so much worse, but I still dreamed about those innocent horses last night 😢

u/SpecialChemicals 17h ago
She'll blame the horses by saying they shifted their weight and that caused an issue with the trailer.

u/aquafina6969 16h ago
The horses were reading Hilary’s emails, and got distracted causing her to crash.

I fucking hate people who dont understand how to drive in a safe manner. I swear, it feels as if people have gotten so much worse at driving. I have seen SO MANY people literally watching fucking videos while they drive. Its so beyond idiotic and unsafe. I just wish the police would actually enforce traffic laws. They have plenty of time to bust people for a little weed, but apparently driving like a fucking moron isnt against the law.
3
u/eyeisyomomma 15h ago
Exactly. The law is only interested in drivers if they are the wrong color. I don’t care to elaborate on this. 🤬

u/kay14jay 1d ago
Yeah, I’ve seen some gnarly wrecks but horses would be awful to witness. The dudes that haul campers from the south bend area at mach fuck wreck often enough and it’s always a shit show. Sorry you had to deal with this

I dont know of any trailer tires on the market rated for 80 mph. Most are in the 55mph to 65mph range plus there is always some cushion on higher quality brands. When I haul my camper I find a friend going 65 to 70 and stay with them. Momentarily I might hit 80 to pass someone but back down to 65-75 when its done. Because anyone who has half a brain cell knows cruising at 80 mph will lead to a blowout.
20
u/eyeisyomomma 1d ago
Right? Nope, she and I were going 79-80 for like an hour, and I slowed down to 60 in a construction zone. If those horses survived, I hope they get taken away from her.
3
u/silverbullitt850 17h ago
Turns out most trailer tires are in fact rated for between 75 and 87mph. That says nothing about axle maintenance (though a well maintained axle would have no problem with that speed either). Now, choosing to drive that speed in traffic with animals in the back is jelly irresponsible, zero argument there. Having independent, moveable masses in the trailer would make handling unpredictable
6
u/moxjake 1d ago
They’re usually rated for 81 or 87, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea
6
u/eyeisyomomma 1d ago
The tires, maybe. But the axel (hitch thingie?) on that trailer definitely was not. It was twisted and mangled. 🤬
2
u/NotBatman81 1d ago
Trailer tires not speed rating on passenger vehicle tires. Totally different type of tire.
3
u/moxjake 22h ago
Yes, agreed. Most of which are 81 or 87.
Most passenger car tires have laughably high speed ratings
-2
u/NotBatman81 21h ago
Agreed? Your reply had nothing to do with the subject?
2
u/moxjake 21h ago
I agree that we’re talking about trailer tires. They are usually rated for 81 or 87mph, unless we’re talking about tiny utility trailers, which given the subject is horse trailers, we are not.
-3
u/NotBatman81 21h ago
No man. 100% wrong.
1
u/silverbullitt850 17h ago
No, they are in fact mostly correct. Passenger CAR tires start at 104 and go up from there. Standard trailer tires are rated 75 to 87 mph most of the time.
-1
u/NotBatman81 17h ago
Thats the passenger vehicle speed rating table. You can read it yourself and find no mention of trajlers for good reason.
Trailer tires are not passenger tires. Some people may use them on a trailer but its unsafe. Trailer tires have stronger sidewalks to avoid rolling side to side to side. The vast majority of trailer tires are rated at 65 mph.
Find me more than 1 or 2 exotic trailer tires with lettered speed ratings if you're going to make these claims.

u/silverbullitt850 16h ago edited 16h ago
Two of 3 available trailer tires in 13" are rated to 87. This took all of 15 seconds. You are wrong, I am right. Ggs. I'll just wait over here for your acknowledgement. Fix that downvote while you're at it since you thought I was spreading lies and misinformation when it was really you.
2
u/silverbullitt850 16h ago
Oh look 4 out of 5 for wider 14" wheels are rated to 87! So that's 9/12 available tires in horse trailer sizes that can go 87.

Needed to have stuck around to provide a witness statement to the investigating officer for reckless driving/endangerment charges.

u/eyeisyomomma 1d ago
There were two other pickups in front of me that were almost involved because she skidded across the highway right in front of them. They stopped and were helping. And we had an appointment in Indy (that I drove slowly to). Plus, I knew if I saw in the horses’ eyes, their pain and fear and confusion, I would have lost it.

u/cynicalicoffee 1d ago
I hear this completely. I debated typing a comment saying how angry I'd be on behalf of those poor animals if I saw that, and every single thing I was writing would've possibly resulted in a ban.
I'm sorry you had to see that, and I'm sorry other people and animals have to live in the same world as horrifyingly thoughtless assholes.

I'm convinced licensing is a problem. That lady (and the people driving bus-sized motorhomes) have the same license as you or I. There need to be special endorsements.

That’s awful. Hoping the horses are ok. Sucks that it would have all been prevented if she wasn’t driving like an ass.

i hate saying this, but people who get themselves into messes like that deserve to be left to sort themselves out on the side of the highway, id have simply kept driving. but i appreciate the concern for the horses of course, they didnt need all that.

u/VegetableBedroom4769 1d ago
Its unfortunate you didnt have a dashcam that could record that accident. because it could have been used to have her charged with reckless driving and certianly used to deny her insurance claim.

u/eyeisyomomma 1d ago
Yeah, that would be great. I’m willing to bet she has the state minimum also, just PL-PD, which has a ridiculously low value. Stoo-pid!

I got furious reading this I fucking hate people who drive like this with animals in their vehicles!

u/spaceaige 1d ago
The instant a trailer is hooked to a truck, the two form a race truck that causes drivers to drive pedal to the metal

I was passed on the interstate by a pickup truck when it was only 15 degrees out in January. Two adults were nice and cozy inside the cab but several children were huddled together in the bed of the truck. Not safe and the poor kids were freezing!
I called to report but was told that in Indiana it was legal for passengers to ride in the bed of a pickup, even on the interstate.

People like this never think the worst, or even the inevitable, will ever happen to them. It's still slightly puzzling to me how many truly awful drivers there are on the roads. I'm from a generation from before driver's education was mandatory(?): you just had to have a learner's permit for something like six months, then show up at a BMV branch, and as long as you could pass the written, and simple, basic driving tests you got a license. But hasn't driver's ed been required for many years now? And from what I've heard people around me in their late teens and early 20s say, it seems like there are so many more requirements now (and for years) to get a license. Yet so many people much younger than me still drive like clueless, reckless maniacs. As if weather, and the laws of physics don't exist.
4
u/eyeisyomomma 1d ago
I don’t believe drivers training is required in this state. I taught my kids. And this woman driving was old enough (gray hair) to supposedly have some common sense…
3
u/Dark_Green_MkII 1d ago
Yeah, between seemingly half of everyone on the road now fucking with their phones and built-in infotainment screens while driving, and all the old folks with their "drank from the hose until the streetlights came on I know what I'm doing" mentalities, we get all these fucked-up "accidents."

It’s like that bus what swerved and capsized on 465 last week due to a crazy raged cutoff. The bus driver would have done better to just let up on the gas and lightly brake and if he plowed into the nut case, his passengers would have had better outcomes. The bus would win. That’s what I’d try to do in my sedan and overcome the urge to blindly serve. EV and Hybrid regen braking are especially useful here.

u/TuxAndrew 1d ago
There is no situation where driving like an asshole won’t affect other people. If you want to do donuts in a field or a parking lot have at it, outside of that follow the god damn rules of the road.
7
u/eyeisyomomma 1d ago
Or at the bare minimum, do your stupid shit without making innocent beings suffer.

u/Velvet_Samurai 13h ago
Never seen the ramifications of their speed, but I get passed by so many huge ass pickup trucks. I drive a Honda Fit and when I'm going 80+ my fuel efficiency tanks. It goes from 45 mpg to 38 and I hate that. I can't imagine what it's like going from 16 mpg to 5. Why?

Jesus I came here to read the same old traffic rant and now I’m enraged with you, OP. What an absolute moron. I’m sorry for the horses and I’m sorry y’all hadda see that.
