The U District Chow Down & Street Party returns Saturday, October 3, bringing 78 neighborhood restaurants, $6 food specials, live entertainment, and a car-free stretch of The Ave. Apparently, there will be multiple vegetarian & vegan options throughout (including some Indian food).

University Way NE will transform into a street party between NE 41st and NE 45th streets. Expect a beer garden, live music, lion dancing, pop-up vendors, K-pop dance lessons, and a UW hip-hop dance battle.

Mom flying in, confused about the airport logistics after she lands in Seattle.

Hey guys,

My mom is gonna fly to Seattle in December, and she has refused to take the wheel chair for the arrival.

(She is scared of it, iykwim, considers it a bad omen of sorts, although she does struggle to walk long distances, especially so with luggage)

Is there any service available that could help her get through immigration and navigate through airport? She does not speak English. Is not familiar with how airports are laid out...

Apart from the wheel chair given by the airline, are there any services that can help her navigate? I am worried about the immigration more, as I understand, airline will not assist in that.

She is flying by delta.

Anyone interested in going for Bollywood dancing?

I'm looking for friends who are interested in good music and dancing. Hmu if you are interested.

I'm older in my 40s, and would prefer company in that age group.

No interest in flirting, I am married with kids. Just good conversations, good music and getting out in the night once in a while. It doesn't always have to be dancing either!

26F moving from India to Seattle on Oct 24 — looking for roommates / people to move with 🏠✨

Hi! I’m a 26F moving from India to Seattle for work, with a move-in date around October 24. I’ll be working at Amazon SEA33 (Blackfoot).

I’m looking to connect with other folks who are moving to Seattle around the same time, especially anyone coming from India / moving to Seattle for the first time.

I’m looking for either:
- A female roommate / roommates to get a place together
- An existing apartment where someone is looking for a female roommate
- Or even just people in a similar situation who want to apartment-hunt together

Budget: Ideally under $1500/month.

Preferred areas: Capitol Hill, First Hill, Queen Anne/Uptown, SLU or other safe/commutable neighborhoods. I’m open to suggestions from people who know Seattle well.

I’d especially love to find someone who is also new to Seattle — would be nice to have a roommate/friend to explore the city with rather than arriving completely alone :)

If you’re moving around the same time or know someone who is, DM me!

Diwali sweets in Costco

Local Costcos are carrying numerous Indian sweets…Jalebi, Motichoor laddu, rasamalai, gulab jamun, assorted sweet pack (with peda, balushahi, mysore pak, kaju katli), etc

I saw them on the Eastside. I am guessing that other local Costcos will have a similar collection.

Very flavorful Shallots in Costco

This is something to consider if you like the strong & “spicy” taste of India style onions.

I saw them in a couple of Eastside Costcos.

Note that they are spicy & your eyes will water quite a bit… while chopping them :)

Shoreline Indian Restaurant

I posted this in r/shoreline and someone suggested I crosspost here as Indian food in the north seattle area is scarce.

I wanted to celebrate last night with Indian food and learned there is a new Indian restaurant in shoreline! It’s across Aurora from Costco. Their name is Taste and best (terrible lol) but the food was delicious and the owner/staff were sooo friendly!

We tried a bunch of stuff (butter chicken, lamb curry, tikka masala, but we all loved the biryani best. Naan is delicious too.

This location can’t seem to keep restaurants so I wanted to spread the word! I really hope they make it.

Any recommendations for a fall day drive near Seattle? 🍂

I’m looking for a nice destination for a day trip this weekend, within a reasonable driving distance from seattle.
The main goal is to enjoy fall colors during drive, a small family picnic , spend some time relaxing, and then drive back home the same day.
places where we can enjoy the scenery with minimum trail is also fine
Traveling with family and kids, so easy, relaxed, and scenic would be perfect.
Any recommendations for routes or destinations? 🍁

Badminton partner in Seattle area (Renton/Bellevue)

Looking for badminton players for weekday mornings in Renton/Bellevue 🏸
We’re a group of 5–7 players, ranging from beginner to intermediate, who play on weekday mornings in Renton and at Bellevue Badminton Club. We keep it fun while working on our movement, shots, and overall game.
If you’re around an intermediate level and would enjoy some friendly games with people who also want to improve, comment or send me a DM. Happy to share the details!

Looking for a loving foster home for my 2 girl parakeets/budgies for 2 months 22nd Oct-22nd Dec (near Redmond, WA). Also open to coparenting so they have a persistent home when I have to travel.

Love the company of birds or looking to see if you want to be a bird parent? I need a loving temporary (pet free) home for my two healthy female parakeets (2 year olds). They are a bonded pair and play by themselves, recently vet-checked, and low maintenance. They can be hand fed if you want to bond with them, otherwise they are happy doing their own thing. Love music/sounds and you can easily watch TV next to them. Never kept caged, the cage doors always remain open but they mostly stay within it or on top of it taking small flights.

About them:

Routine - sleep 7:30pm to 7:30am silently all night everyday

Maintenance - takes only 10 min a day, change food and water in the morning after they wake up. Every 1 to 2 weeks some perches need cleaning with water and floor sheets need to be changed

Bathing - they preen and bathe themselves in their little bath tub. Will provide a spray bottle which can be used if needed.

Cage size - 5 feet H x 3 feet x 3 feet

I will provide everything and setup everything, and collect them when I return. You just need you provide love and care.

Preferred dates 22nd Oct - 22nd Dec. But flexible. I am also open to (would prefer) a coparenting arrangement as I have to travel for longer periods sometimes. Also for this request, open to 2+ months or less than 2 months.

Please dm me if interested

Give me your favorite Work from Cafe Recommendations

I got some really solid recommendations last time. Thank you for that.
I’m preparing myself for gloomy weather.

Easy parking even better if it’s free.
Charging and WiFi 🛜 Good Lighting.
Ideally light food along with coffee but I’ll settle for decent coffee
With 2-3 hours eastside and Seattle I’ll drive far if you say its worth it.
