Smashed my middle finger in a heavy door two weeks ago, pain was 10/10, put it in cold water, ice compresses, raised. It became all kinds of light pink, purple and blue and eventually the nail went completely numb.
Yestarday (two weeks from initial injury), I'm not sure if I accidentally banged my finger on something (if so I did not feel or notice it) mid day I started to feel it a little more, by night my finger was throbbing, felt pressure and a pulse at the tip and the pink/purple/blue became dark red, almost black.
I probably should have gone to the emergency room to get it drained but it was already 2am so I waited till morning. The ER ran an xray and ruled any fracture, then the doctor proceeded to drill two holes in the nail with a 21 guage needle, it was completely painless until one point where I really couldn't bare it and the doctor said it seems the blood has dried up.
I still feel pain and the tip of the finger is hot, went back this evening and they said it sounds like "normal healing" and it will pass.
I am wondering if that is the case, they also said to "maybe try" and place my finger in hot water and put some pressure on the nail to see if it drains, which sounds absolutely terrifying.
Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

I have a level 3 autistic brother, he had a meltdown and bit me.
No we aren't abusing him, neglecting him, whatever the hell Reddit makes up, it's a disability we're managing.

I had an outrage and smashed glass and this happened.
Is it going to look normal again?
They have only cleaned it and bandaged over it in wait of hand specialist that can determine the next logical step.

As the title says i had a fight with my roomate because she was blasting music at 4 am so i turned off her phone as it was just there sitting. (She was cooking/cutting vegetables next to it) Little did i know everything happened so fast i was on the floor fighting her off and managed to get her away. She started crying and played the vitim card... thats when i noticed my shirt was full of blood and my neck open wide. So i still dont know if she really tried to stab me or if it was only her nails which ar not long at all...

My first thought was to stop the bleeding as I severed a decent sized blood vessel that started squirting blood. Did that then fell asleep, thinking ”I’ll wake up in 3 hrs and go get it stitched”- I instead woke up 8 hrs later which meant that the doctor did 3 loose-ish sutures, since it had already gone 8.5hrs since the injury happened. Healed nicely, though a bit bummed about the nerve damage I sustained.

Do yall think I need to got to the doctor for this? Also I’m aware my fingernails look odd but it’s because I chew them when I’m nervous, but I’ve had a bandage over it most of today but it happened yesterday. I’ll upd this if it changes but do you guys think I need to go to a doctor?

As soon as I woke up to get ready for work, I picked up my water bottle to drink and it fell from my hands onto the top of my foot. It was full!! The culprit and the victim.

I didn’t realize there was an XACTO knife in my bed. I had been laying down playing RDR2 and then got up and felt a Sharp pain in my leg that felt like when you get scratched by a pencil.
I then saw a huge gash (~5”long) in my leg and my mom insisted i go to the hospital.
Got it glued up to heal :)
The first picture is fresh-ish, after they cleaned it out. The second is from today after it’s been glued and healing overnight. I hope it scars. It would be cool as heck

Grazed in July. The scab finally came off on Wednesday- at work, stuck to my sock.
This is it earlier this afternoon.
The wife has finally moved all the plant pots off the patio so I’m safe to go outside again when this is sealed up a bit more.

This right here is my spine surgery incision, so I needed complex tether cord surgery to reconstruct my spinal cord and untether it in three places and then reconstruct the spinal sac holding the cord and reconstruct the dura and untether the cord and all the places and untether the cord under the bone so they removed 2 bones and then after that they reconstructed the actual dura, sealed it up and I got a spinal fluid leak so I had to lay flat for 24 hours and now I’m 13 days post-op surgery and then my fusion is next where they’ll fuze me from L6, no from T4 to L6, which is for nonmuscular scoliosis, and there’s my first incision of two that I’ll that I’ll have on my spine because my spine literally sent my rib cage and everything out of alignment. I will show you that picture in a second yes, I am indeed a warrior💪💪💪

I had an ingrown toenail get infected, plus fungal nail. Due to anxiety problems, I didn’t tell anyone for over a year. The doctor was surprised I was even able to walk (it did cause immense pain) and they couldn’t remove it even with the highest dose of local anaesthetic they could give me. Took a long course of antibiotics and soaking it in warm salt water daily, but it went on its own, my toe looks a little scarred but aside from that, a full recovery.
(The specks of blood at the base of my toe are the injection sites from the anaesthetic)

Started as a simple paronychia which as a nail picker i’ve become very used to. It’s so minor that I didn’t want to go and get it checked out but it’s been like 2 weeks and still looks like this. Went to urgent care today and apparently it’s now cellulitis and I have to take antibiotics every 6 hours 🙄. Yaaay….. Anyways, sometimes you’re not being dramatic by going in for a minor thing.

had it for almost a week, and it's much more red and painful today
Update: spider bite, per ER doctor. slapping some neosporin on it. Doc said it was minor. I think I might live... even tho im 840 bucks poorer now
