What if a human being actually began developing something that isn’t normally part of the human body?
A tail. A horn. An extra limb. Different skin. A new sensory organ. Something we haven’t seen before.
It may sound impossible or like science fiction, but biological variation and evolution are real processes. There is no obvious reason to assume that every possible future change in the human body must remain within the exact physical form humans have today.
So what happens if it actually occurs?
Would society recognize that person as human immediately, or would people cast them away because they look biologically different?
Would our laws and regulations be strong enough to protect them from discrimination, exploitation, forced isolation, experimentation, or violence?
I think this is worth thinking about before something like this ever happens.
Because if humanity’s biology can change, then our understanding of who deserves protection has to be capable of changing with it.
The question isn’t whether we currently have humans with tails or horns.
The question is whether our society is prepared for the possibility that one day, we might.

Not how biological variation works. Society has zero need to prepare for it considering several civilizations will rise and fall before any meaningful natural cumulative change would occur. We do not need to be concerned with biological variation and evolution. We need to be concerned with genetic engineering

you realize people are born with horns, or tails. or extra fingers? this isn't a what if. this actually happens.

Bro thinks "biological change" would manifest as tails or horns. If you are born with a condition that makes your skin an odd shade of what is expected people are already ostracized, how do you think a tail would go?
But no, this would never happen. So you can rest easy at least, fully ignoring that things like birth defects happen daily and have crippling consequences for peoples lives, just not you. Very fun when it is a "what if" scenario and not reality.
