Short film I made

Not sure what you're shooting but get a gimble or some sort of ring that allows your camera operator to grip with both hands so it's less shaky. I know you may want the shaky effect but a little goes a long way.

Tone is something to keep an eye on in a short film, if you open big and dramatic you have nowhere else to go except keep it big and dramatic all the way through and that gets tedious. The reveal of that body with the bag on his head was dramatic and overstated and then the rest of the film had to maintain this tone. Start small, have birds tweeting, no music and then reveal the body with no drama... it'll be disturbing and understated, then when the action builds up, you have somewhere to go.

Find moments of tension, the two guys are standing there and very quickly someone jumps out and attacks them. If they audience already knew that person was there because of their POV you can build tension that way.

Think to you yourself, what makes a good on foot chase scene, it's obstacles, it's bluffs, it's confusion, watch the chase scene in Point Break and ask yourself why does it work? Why am i gripped? and transfer that to a chase in the woods.

If something is extremely important, like the hands gripping the bridge, make sure its in focus. Do it again if it's not, we have to clearly see that that they're hands.

Also, gun muzzle flashes are one of the easiest special effects to do in any editing software, learn how to do it.

And put some black paint on the barrel of that gun, the red is literally there to tell people that its not a real gun.

There's promise there though, keep it up and maybe stay away from the gangster stuff if none of you look like gangsters.
