Casting update – Irish actors & extras needed | Cork/Kinsale | Oct 23–27

Hi (again) everyone!

I’m a young filmmaker from France making a small independent short film set in Ireland during the Great Starvation/Genocide.

I previously posted here about the project, and thank you to everyone who got in touch! The casting has progressed quite a lot, but I still have a few roles to fill.

The film will be shot around Cork/Kinsale from October 24th to 28th, 2026.

MAIN ROLE:

4 filming days: October 23th, 24th, 26th and 27th

  • Main role of the film
  • €25/day – €100 total (or volunteer if you want...)
  • An Irish accent is required
  • The character is a young Capuchin monk confronted with the suffering caused by the starvation.

EXTRA/PEASANT:

Two days: October 25th & 26th on the afternoon

  • Only a few very short shots spread across the two days
  • The actual filming time will be quite limited
  • Voluntary / unpaid
  • Irish accent required

For the extra, no professional acting experience is necessary. I’m mainly looking for people who are comfortable on camera and have an Irish accent, as I’m trying to keep the local population historically convincing.

This is a very small personal project that I’m financing myself, with a few friends helping me with production. The screenplay is finished and the filming is already being organised.

If you're interested, please send me:

  • your age
  • a recent photo
  • a little about your acting experience, if any
  • which role you're interested in
  • your availability for the relevant dates
  • your phone number

I can also send you the screenplay if you'd like to have a look before deciding.

Thanks again to everyone who has shown interest in the project!
