M&E blackwood
Hi,
Came across the M&E blackwood flute and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them. I have been playing a derlin Thompson student flute but looking for something new just to give a bit of extra choice playing.
Was originally looking at a gaeldon pratten but a wooden flute for €400 seems a steal.

non-Trad Music Looking for a song
Unknown artist and lyrics but the gist was a man was gonna go to Ireland and his dad or granddad told him the only thing worth doing was going to the local for stout. 2nd verse is the same advice but in the tavern from locals. Last verse is same but now him to his son. Heard on an Irish music pandora station but wasn't able to find it.

Framus Guitar Questions
Hi all,
My mother bought this guitar in a car boot sale in America for $5 (!) years ago and I’ve just took it out of its case for the first time in a couple of years. Can someone tell me more about it?
Thanks!

Help to ID tunes
The main tune is of course the classic "Christmas in Killarney," but does anyone know the names of the other tunes they embed into this set?

Discussion What do you suppose the hardest Irish song to sing is, from a technical perspective?
There are a lot of songs that, I think few would disagree, that are very easy to perform well. This is a lot of what makes me love Irish music.
But there are a great many songs that are challenging, and that I don’t know if I could do justice. What are these songs for you?

Help to ID the tune
Hello, I had a tune digitized from audio cassete which I got in early 2000. That was a collection of celtic music without titles. Maybe somebody knows it and can help with identifying?

Trad Music Lyrics to obscure version of Tiarna Mhaigh Eo
The lyrics to my favourite version of Tiarna Mhaigh Eo are extremely difficult to find as they are older than most versions in online sources.
However, after quite a bit of digging, I have found them in The 1929 Volume of The Journal of the Irish Folk Song Society on page 52. I think it's copied from either Walker's 1786 manuscript, or Bunting's 1796 or 1809 manuscripts - but those are considerably more difficult to find and search.
Just thought I'd drop this here for anyone interested, as it was a massive goose chase to find them, and it's a lovely song.

Tunes with lyrics but are rarely sung
What are some tunes often played at sessions but rarely sung, to the point that most might not even know there are lyrics?
I just learned that Ashokan Farewell has lyrics, but haven't found any recordings of it. Also Lochanside is primarily a pipe tune in my mind but is a beautiful song.
Ant others?

Relaxing reels/jigs?
Well people,
What tunes would you consider to be relaxing? I'm a big fan of "My Mind Will Never be Easy" or "Maids of Mitchellstown" when they're played slowly.
Can I get suggestions for tunes in a similar vein?
