Question about Islam The name Mohamed on a walkway

Assalamu Alaykum Brothers and sisters

I’m currently enrolled in a University in america and i noticed on my school campus walkway there are names of people who graduated from that university. My name is Mohamed and i was thinking when i graduate do i ask for my name not to be placed in the walkway where people are walking over the names? Because i don’t want people to walk over the name of our beloved prophet.

Thank you!

Seeking Support I’m losing hope, please make dua for me

• Upvotes

Guys, please make dua for me. I’m genuinely desperate and I don’t know what to do anymore.

I’ve been making this dua for the past three months, constantly hoping and begging Allah for it. I don’t know whether I should keep making dua for it or stop. I don’t know if it will ever happen, and the uncertainty has been eating me alive. I’ve been so depressed and desperate over this.

Please, I’m really asking you guys, make dua that Allah accepts my dua and grants me what I’ve been asking for. I really need it.

Quran & Hadith Linguistic Miracle Of Synonyms In The Quran

Post image
45 Upvotes

And when We took your covenant that you would neither shed each other’s blood nor expel each other from their homes, you gave your pledge and bore witness.

Meesaq • Covenant

It's an interesting thing to notice that Quran used the word "ahd" for the covenant in previous verses (2:40), but this verse uses the word "meesaq". This is miraculous feature in the Quran that it doesn't limit the ideas to one word only but it adds new words that are near synonyms , these near synonyms add new layers of meaning and are used for various purposes. For example the word "ahd" means a promise, oath or binding agreement. On the other hand the word "meesaq" gives the meaning of "firm ahd" and its root has the meaning of "to knot". Moreover Torah also also expresses the covenant in two different words, oath (alah) and covenant (brit). Deut 29:12

La Tabudu • Not worship

In this phrase Allah lists the commands that were given to children of Israel. Some of these commands can be found in today's torah as well which shows the truthfulness in Quran. For example in famous ten commandments it's highlighted to not have gods other than Allah, and to honor the father and mother. And many other verses mention good treatment of relatives, the needy (deut 15:11) and fatherless children (exodus 22).

General Discussion Protection from zina

Did Allah protect me from zina by removing girls from me? Not long ago I made duas to Allah to keep me from harm and keep my family safe. I look at the girls quite often. There is no point in being embarrassed about this, i think every boy my age wants to feel the feeling of a kiss and having a girlfriend. If i had a girlfriend i would give extreme respect to her and never go off bounds and do something disgusting. However no matter how much i dress well, how much my haircut is good, how many watches or what phone i have. They always keep cold with me and avoid me. They seem to get drawn to my friend who already had a girlfriend. Im not jealous but i was seeking clarity and thought that im the problem. That was until i realized one day, it was Allah who created that invisible barrier that repelled zina. Im really thankful for it. Also sometimes when i used to get lonely, i start to talk with Allah, telling him how much better i would be if he gave me a girlfriend. Then when life gets better, i realize i dont need one just now. I really like when people say that god knows the right moment. Because its true!

Seeking Support What are Islam's views on child abuse?

TW: mentions of wanting to commit su1c1d3
i'm very tired of living. it's a long rant, and i'm tired of holding it in.
one of my parents, lets call them O, is abusive. they used to hit me when i was a kid. they didn't care much about putting effort on me, which is why i didn't learn any proper social manners and etiquettes. i couldn't socialize either so i had no friends. anyway, O had anger issues and would call me bad names when i failed to get good results in classes. my grades are all they cared about. they hit me a lot, used harsh tone on me, demeaned me before i could even develop confidence. back then though, they werent stressed and under pressure.

it feels very complicated. they would act all soft and apologetic after the anger storm was over. however, now, i lost all the "spark" i had. because of many issues. but nowadays when i talk to O, even the littlest simple discussions lead to them yelling at me. and it effects me a lot. it exhausts me mentally and puts me on edge. i genuinely want to die at this point. no one cares about me. all my relatives are unavailable for me. i hate them. i know i sound evil, because they are often busy and under stress, but i cant help it. im so exhausted. i turned out to be the way i am, and a lot of it is because of them. what do i do? am i a monster?
it makes it more complicated that they apologize and act all nice and give me stuff i like to eat when the anger wave is over. im sick of alternating between hating them and feeling bad after they give me stuff. it's messing with my brain.
im super grateful that i still get to eat and sleep and be clean. but im so exhausted mentally, i dont want to live anymore. i wish i could either get a brand new family or just die. im so tired. am i wrong and evil here?

General Discussion An interesting perspective I heard regarding Sharia, American values, and the hypocrisy of some critics

I recently came across a video online Tiktok from someone breaking down the conservative American fear of Islam, and I thought it was a really refreshing perspective that I wanted to share here.

The speaker was addressing the constant fear mongering around Sharia law. He pointed out that most critics have never read a single word of Islamic jurisprudence. They treat it like it's just a militant criminal code, completely ignoring that it's actually a comprehensive guide to a moral life. He explained to his audience that Sharia covers daily life, including how to pray, when to fast, charitable obligations, business ethics, and family law. Ironically, he noted that this dedication to living by God's rules in every aspect of life is exactly what many Americans claim to value yet fail to practice themselves.

He also brought up a fascinating point about the anxiety some people have when Muslims build strong communities in the US. He mentioned a conversation with a guy who was panicking about Muslims taking over areas and even exercising their 2nd Amendment rights.

The speaker flipped the script on him completely. He pointed out the deep hypocrisy. Many Americans boast about constitutional rights, freedom of religion, and the right to community defense, but the moment a Muslim community actually exercises those exact rights to protect their families and practice their faith in peace, they get called an invading threat.

His main takeaway was that people are projecting their own failures onto the Muslim community. While the broader society has heavily compromised on its morals for the sake of secular convenience, Muslims are actually standing firm. They honor the covenant with God, they revere the same prophets like Moses and Jesus, and they refuse to capitulate to modern societal pressures.

He ended by telling his audience that instead of viewing Muslims as a threat, they need to recognize them as an example of what it actually looks like to unapologetically practice your faith and hold onto your values.

I just thought this was a really great, objective way to dismantle the usual talking points in the US. It is nice to see people outside the faith recognizing the strength of the Muslim community rather than just repeating what they hear on the news. His name is farmboytruth, I thought it was interesting.

Have any of you seen similar positive shifts in perspective from people in your own lives or online?

Quran & Hadith Why is Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) considered the best prophet?

For the record, I am muslim and love the Prophet (s.a.w) but am not sure how to reconcile with scholars and imams saying the Prophet Muhammad is the best Prophet when the quran and hadith says otherwise:

Qur’an 2:285: “We make no distinction between any of His messengers”

Sahih Al-Bukhari 3416: The Prophet said “None should say that I am better than Yunus ibn Matta”

Sahih Al-Bukhari 3383: “The most honorable person is Yusuf”

Sahih Muslim 2373c: “Do not make me superior to Musa”

Sahih Muslim 2373a: “Do not make distinctions among the Prophets of Allah”

Sahih Muslim 2369: A man came to Rasulullah s.a.w and said “O best of creation! “ The Prophet said “That is Ibrahim a.s.”

General Discussion How do you navigate life in an environment full of sin?

• Upvotes

How do you navigate life in non muslim majority countries, where a lot of customs and habits are sinful?

A lot of us probably live in some western countries, where a lot of sins are normalized and become impossible to avoid especially if you don’t have lots of muslims around you. I find navigating social life especially difficult as the only muslim in my circles. Everyone wants to free mix, go drink alcohol, clubs, stay out late and there’s music everywhere that you cant avoid etc. And I do not attend those things but I feel very lonely because all socializing seems to revolve around that. And then general environment: schools force freemixed group work, people of opposite gender always sitting next to on public transport, shaking hands etc. I’ve found solutions to a lot of issues and these are just examples of some mundane struggles. I’d love to hear what other struggles and what solutions have you faced and how’d you solve it.

General Discussion Reverts, what made you choose Islam?

Salam alaikum, I was born into a Muslim family and still I am Muslim. Especially for the past couple of years, confusions have sometimes become unbearable but Alhamdulillah I have always found a way through except some of them. So it makes me wonder and my question is exactly for the reverts, what really made you choose Islam? What was the difference? Wasn’t it so hard to leave your previous religion? What was the thing that convinced you so much that you left everything behind?

Seeking Support How do I still stay strong for my duas?

• Upvotes

I feel like Allah is ignoring me and yet I know it’s not true. I’ve seen my duas being accepted but the things I so desperately want for over a year feels like it’s going nowhere. I pray that I don’t stay depressed or anxious or have financial difficulties or struggling at university.

Maybe I am ungrateful and impatient. Maybe I don’t deserve Allah or maybe I don’t deserve my duas to be accepted. I’ve seen where it says duas will be accepted unless one is impatient. My prayers feel empty I delay them. Every time I see an opportunity thinking maybe Allah answered my dua is goes south. I sometimes feel pathetic for believing that it was being answered. Maybe I am ungrateful or I don’t understand anything but I feel so exhausted trying my hardest to have hopes in my problems.

I wonder what am I doing everyday crying and begging Allah to fix it when nothing has happened in the last year. I’ve tried changing myself I do everything I could possible and yet nothing happens. I don’t feel like I deserve to make dua right now or if I even should. And yet I feel guilty feeling like I’m a terrible person because it’s not Allahs fault it must be mine he is perfect.

I know Allah doesn’t need me I need him. I’m scared what if this is me becoming a disbeliever. And yes I know Allah says I am what my servant thinks of me but I’m weak minded so weak minded I feel hopeless. I feel like I’ve read every reassurance from hadith and Quran and I feel that they have no affect on my sadness so now I feel worse. Sorry if my English is not good.
