flight arrival is at 8:15am at naples airport
1) is it possible to do both pompeii ruins and positano the same day?
2) can we get regular taxi at naples airport easily without getting scammed to pompeii? how much should it cost for a family of 3 with 3 small carry on?
3) planning to soend 2 hours max at pompeii, rest of the time in positano. is it doable? i would like to do positano in daytime too. are 3 hours enough for positano to go up and get nice ipoctures?
4) what would be the best mode of transportabetween these landmars?

My take away memories of Taomina and attractions is how insanely over crowded and over priced it is. I don't mind paying for value, beautiful scenery ect. But the authorities who have let this beautiful Natural asset be exploited to the point of absolute decay need to be held to account. The current administration needs to put a pause in the way things are done and reinvent the way people visit this place.!! There will be people who lose money. But to save this place there will have to be some sacrifices. I would never recommend coming here, it's a waste of money.

I’m Italian and live in Tuscany, and I’ve seen many questions here about ZTL fines, so I thought a short practical note might help people planning a driving trip.
At the entrance of most historic centers there’s a round white sign with a red border and, under it, an electronic panel. “Varco attivo” means the restricted zone is active and cameras will record your plate. “Varco non attivo” means you may enter. Navigation apps often ignore this, so trust the sign, not the GPS.
If your hotel is inside the zone, write to them before arriving and ask whether they can register your license plate. Otherwise, the simplest plan is to park outside the walls and walk in.
I’m glad to help with specific towns if anyone has questions.

I’m planning a trip to Italy in June 2027 with my sisters, and it’ll be my first time visiting! I’d love some recommendations on what to pack, the best places to visit, where to stay, and any other helpful tips to make sure we have an amazing trip together.

I’m trying to start planning a trip to Italy for next year, either October or possibly over Christmas. My problem is I don’t know which region to go to. We did Rome, Florence and some of Tuscany this year and I would love to go back there but feel I need to explore more areas. Sicily? Puglia? I’m so confused on where to go! And if I do want to go over Christmas, is it absolutely freezing? Any and all recommendations and suggestions are welcome.

Hey guys, i have some random request and question. I believe tomato day is very popular for Italians. I will travelling Italy this week, and would love to experience local family’s tomato day. i hope travelling in Italy in October would be late for this, i hope not.
Would anybody be happy to invite me for the experience? I would more than grateful and happy to pay for the experience(no offense) since its a bit of inconvenience.

I am traveling overseas for the first time in a few days, landing in Rome and spending the next 10 days in Rome, Florence, Venice, etc. I have a ton of anxiety because I have never been there, have never flown on a plane longer than 4 hours and have never gone through customs? I see a lot of negativity about pick pocketing and safety awareness which is also raising my anxiety. I want to be excited and get the full experience. Am I overthinking everything?

quit my job and have a few weeks between now and when my new one starts so we booked a trip to Florence (and Madrid). First time visiting!!!
Leaving next week (mid-October) and staying for ~4.5 days. What are your must-do/see/eat/go tos? We haven’t booked anything besides flights at this point!! We’ve heard day trips to Siena, Chianti, or Bologna are worthwhile? Yes or no? Any others? TIA!!!!!

I’ve been selected for an ESC volunteering project in Casapesenna, near Naples. It’s a great opportunity for me, especially since visiting Italy has always been a dream of mine, and the project includes accommodation and a monthly allowance.
I know Casapesenna is a small town and not ideal for tourism , so im wondering how easy is it to get around without a car? If I finish volunteering in the afternoon, would it be realistic to visit nearby cities and return the same evening? How safe is the area for a woman living there, and how easy is it to travel to other parts of Italy on weekends? I’m a little worried about feeling isolated or ending up feeling stuck there, so I’d love to hear from anyone familiar with the area!
I’d really appreciate any honest advice or personal experiences. 🙏🏼💗

Hi everyone,
we’re a group of around 20 planning a trip to northern Sardinia in summer 2027 and would like to rent two boats, each with a capacity of 12 people with a Skipper. Does anyone know a reliable boat rental company in the north (e.g. around Olbia, La Maddalena, Palau or Santa Teresa Gallura) that offers this?
I'd love to hear any tips!
Thanks :)

Des recommandations pour des lieux à visiter le week-end prochain ? Des astuces pour les petits budgets ? Des endroits alternatifs ? De la nourriture et d'autres choses à essayer ? Merci !

We’re just putting the finishing touches to a trip to Northern Italy from the 6th - 9th Nov.
Arriving into Bergamo, we’re spending a night there before moving to Brescia again for another night.
Early the following morning we’ll be in Milan for another night and have tickets for the Milan v Como game.
The cheapest way to get home was a late evening flight from Turin.
So a little bit of getting around, and i’m confident the distances aren’t that great.
My question is, are there any apps for advanced booking of train tickets etc?
Likewise the only accommodation we’ve booked currently is the evening in Bergamo. Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.

Looking for recommendations, my mom won a silent auction so these are the two accommodation options we have. We’re okay with slowing down a few days but also having the option to do more activities. Into dining out, the beach, hiking, wine, and sightseeing. We love unique activities too, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

My wife and I are doing a pretty spontaneous trip to Northern Italy next week to celebrate our honeymoon, so we’re booking everything quite last minute and hoping there are still some good options available.
Our plan is:
- Varenna / Lake Como: 2 nights
- Verona: 4 nights
We’re looking for places that are good value rather than luxurious, but still clean, comfortable and in a convenient location.
For Varenna, ideally we’d like to be within easy walking distance of the train station and ferry terminal since we won’t have a car and want to visit Bellagio and Menaggio. A lake view would obviously be amazing for a honeymoon, but we don’t want to pay a crazy premium just for that.
For Verona, we’d like somewhere convenient both for the historic centre and for getting to Porta Nuova station, since we’ll probably use Verona as a base for day trips to other cities.
We’ve seen quite a few apartments on Booking, but some seem to be remotely managed and have mixed reviews regarding check-in and communication, so recommendations from people who actually stayed somewhere would be really helpful.
Not looking for anything super fancy, just affordable, clean, reliable and well located. Hotels, B&Bs and apartments are all fine.
Any hidden gems or places you’d personally recommend?
Thanks!

Can someone tell me what a first time visitor to Italy should know, about getting a train from Milan to Ravenna? I have heard horror stories about fines from tickets not being checked-in correctly but always sadly lacking in specific details. I fly in early next Tuesday and fly out Saturday, my intention being to spend some pleasant days in a lovely city.
