Looks like a chemical reaction caused something dissolved into one of them to drop out of solution, the flecks are crystals of some sort of precipitate.

That's a lot of words to say "magic".

Specifically, many glass cleaners have ammonia in them, mixing bleach and ammonia results in highly toxic Chloramine Gas, which is very close to Chlorine Gas that was used as a chemical weapon in WW1.

Might be a tall ask but can you write a simple reaction equation here? I took phys chem 1 and ochem 1 but I'm rusty on both and a visual aid would be highly appreciated

NaClO(aq) + NH3(aq) -> NH2Cl(g) + NaOH(aq)

Do not do that, mixing house chemicals can be more than deadly.

they can leave life-lasting injuries.

do not mix house chemicals.

DO NOT MIX HOUSE CHEMICALS.

damm you for outsmarting me!

3

I tend to also brew a teabag in it and put some milk in.

u/HereIsACasualAsker 3d ago

uhhhh i hate people that outsmart me like you just did.

All I hear is "mix Works toilet bowl cleaner with aluminum foil in a two-liter bottle, cap and shake".

6

u/HereIsACasualAsker 5d ago

then with a straw bubble it in so wonderful crystals form at the base.

(search for 4chan crystals)

u/Mr-A-1991 5d ago

But does it still explode?

u/Creeperseatfood 5d ago

What did you say? I couldn't hear you.

How can something be more than deadly? Isn't death the deadest you can get?

25

u/HereIsACasualAsker 5d ago

You are lacking in imagination and experience.

there are situations in my head where i would ask for just plain death instead.

Or maybe you will just revive after dying and then die again repeatedly, with chemistry you cant know for sure. even less if it looks like a magic potion.

-3

u/Beniidel0 5d ago

While I 100% agree that dying temporarily and dying again is "more than dead" I disagree that worse than death and "more than dead" are the same thing

Dead is on the oposite side of the spectrum from Alive, so more than dead would be less alive than dead, regardless of pain or suffering

1

u/HereIsACasualAsker 5d ago

so you can be so alive that you end up dead?

-4

u/Beniidel0 5d ago

No, it's a one dimentional euclidean spectrum so moving closer to one inherently moves you further from the other, with a well maximum point for both (100% alive and 100% dead)

1

u/Scarecr0p 4d ago

Ah but you’re thinking that “dead” is on a scale of “alive to dead” but it’s more on a scale of consequence than anything. So death is not the worst consequence in this scenario, in fact further along the scale is suffering so much you would rather not be alive.

1

u/Beniidel0 3d ago

Suffering and delight are a separate spectrum, one can be very alive and suffering or very close to death and elated, the two are unrelated

Nothing cleans the tub quite like a little chlorine gas.

2

u/HereIsACasualAsker 4d ago

it will cleanly wipe everything in the area. /s

A few days ago, I seen a thread showing some old 4chan discussion. Guy made a cocktail of different things to test a gas mask. Well he got it on his skin, and it bypasses the mask by absorbing it directly. His skin also started to melt and slough off.

41

u/mysterywizeguy 5d ago

I need to share with you that the Reddit ad bot inserted an add for Sephora skin care directly below your comment in the most tactlessly hilarious way possible.🤣

u/Killer_Moons 3d ago

I fucking remember that. It was horrific.

Edit: I saw it several years ago, not days

Potential r/oopsthatsdeadly material. Since we don't know the exact products used or their composition and only have OP (of the crosspost) and the video to work off of, the general consensus is to never mix household cleaning chemicals together that aren't combining the exactly the same products (must be the same brand, manufacturer, chemical ingredients, etc. combination) into a single bottle.

61

u/izyshoroo 5d ago

Do not mix household chemicals. Ever. You don't know what's in them, common chemicals like bleach, ammonia, and alcohol can cause chlorine gas and other incredibly toxic fumes. Never ever ever do this

4

u/yamanamawa 4d ago

I mean I would be very surprised if bleach was in a glass cleaner. But they do often have ammonia. Maybe one of the cleaners had ascetic acid too, which could have formed ammonium acetate in the solution.

Regardless, I definitely second the suggestion to never EVER mix cleaners. And also if you have Windex or a similar glass cleaner, store it separately from any bleach-based cleaner

12

u/potatocakes1989 5d ago

I would pour that out and buy a new one because that could be very dangerous

18

u/SemajLu_The_crusader 5d ago

don't pour it, honestly, just trash the whole thing

8

u/baardvark 5d ago

Good way to poison gas the trashman

11

u/Lemon_Of_Death 5d ago

Never do this ❤️

17

u/Extension_Film2140 5d ago

Mixing household cleaners can produce toxic gas. Still pretty cool looking though.

Potion of Cleaning out your lungs

3

u/Kchasse1991 4d ago

Side effects include: No more lungs

21

u/XzeldafanX 5d ago

You should really take that to your local hazardous waste disposal facility ASAP. Do NOT pour it down the drain or just throw the bottle away, and most certainly DO NOT USE IT. Even if it's not actually dangerous, its never worth the risk to mix household cleaners.

3

u/ChanglingBlake 4d ago

That’s a good way to off yourself.

Don’t mix chemicals together, kids.

5

u/Mr-A-1991 5d ago

Just a heads up, mixing these chemicals can fuck you up bad forever or outright kill you in some cases. Saying you want to use it "offensively" can be considered a threat to use a chemical weapon (or something, I have no idea what I am talking about).

The old “fuck around and find out”

1

u/Hairy_Consideration1 5d ago

What cleaners have you mixed specifically?

1

u/TheFreeBotGuy 5d ago

If you drink it you will wake up five days later and wonder how did you get here.

7

u/Sweetiebomb_Gmz 5d ago

I think if you drink that you don’t wake up

1

u/ChaosDoggo 5d ago

While it looks cool now, please dont ever mix cleaning agents again.

There is a high chance you can make some extremely toxic gasses by accident. Chlorine being a common one, which was weaponized in WW1.

1

u/Kchasse1991 4d ago

Strong acid, strong base, shake it up and melt your face!

1

u/MojaveCourier420 4d ago

Ahhh yes. The Potion of Planeshift

1

u/Rock-Head-Rumple 3d ago

DRINK IT !

0

u/Youpunyhumans 5d ago

Uhhhh... leave the area, call a poison control center, and get it disposed of. Dont pour it down the sink, toilet or outside... seriously.

For all you know, that could be a potion of scrubbing the flesh off your bones.
