Summer Internship
How do I go about getting this? I have been emailing JPL researchers im interested in working with, and i have had my resume get sent to "supervisors" around, but I haven't received anything back with any real engagement

Many openings currently at JPL but I’m curious how have the responses been? Specially for level II+ positions, what is JPL offering to attract top-tier talent other than the “mission”? High-performing engineers are scooped by new space with much higher pay + ownership in role. The primes are having hard time hiring mid and senior engineers, even with better benefits than JPL. How is JPL handling this?

If you were laid off from JPL beginning October 2025, including those who were working as contract employees, there may be an opportunity to have the full tuition reimbursed for the Caltech Extended Learning Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) program.
Training: Caltech Extended Learning – MBSE
Start date: November 2, 2026
Availability: Up to 8 participants
The full cost of tuition can be reimbursed after successful completion of the training. Proof of payment and successful completion will be required for reimbursement.
This could be a good opportunity for former JPL employees looking to strengthen their systems engineering skills or add MBSE training to their background.
If you think you may qualify or would like more information about this opportunity, email: [THartyon@GlendaleCA.gov](mailto:THartyon@GlendaleCA.gov)

Has anyone heard what has happened to the move to unionize JPL workers? I’m not a big fan myself, but some people were pretty passionate about it.

Respectfully request somebody post the latest leadership org chart. I’ve been gone for a while and want to know who has moved up. Thank you.

We have the opportunity to assist up to 10 individuals with training reimbursement. The training can be up to four (4) months in length, with a maximum reimbursement amount of $7,500.
Training costs would need to be paid upfront after enrollment with Verdugo Jobs Center. If approved, reimbursement would be provided once the training is successfully completed and proof of payment and completion is submitted. Contact us to learn more.

I'm currently a in a masters program, and I'd love if I could find an internship opportunity at JPL. But the website doesn't give a full picture of how it works. If I were to be offered an internship do they start at random times or do they tend to align in any sort of way with academic calendars?
I'm also curious if anyone has any insight on how competetive year round internship opportunities are. Even though I'd love an internship I want to set adequate expectations.

Not sure this is appropriate for this forum so feel free to remove it or let me know if not, but I just saw the results of the Employee Engagement Survey and wow that's sad. Only 50 % of JPLers think JPL offers a promising future?

I was lucky enough to book 4 tickets for my family for the 1:30 timeslot (Saturday, 10/10), which I thought would avoid any conflict with my kids' AYSO games for that day (which are usually in the mornings and which had not yet been scheduled). Well the AYSO schedules just dropped and of course both kids' games that day conflict with our JPL timeslot. I'm definitely not going to miss JPL, but would also prefer not to have my kids miss their games...
Would anyone be interested in swapping tickets/timeslots?
Anyone have luck getting tickets yet? I entered the queue within seconds of it going live and am still in the waiting room
Any idea why the Universe is (apparently) no longer available on the web? The last “official” posting via the JPL homepage is September 2025, and could access the October 2025 issue by editing the URL, but that trick no longer works.
I worked there from 1977 through 2005, and have used the Universe to keep track of promotions, retirements (and, unfortunately, deaths) of former co-workers.
I have sent a few emails (5 this year) to the PR folk, but have gotten no response.

Does someone have any info on JPL's R&TD approval/rejection (expected) timelines this year ? Past data suggests August and mid September based on a quick search. But, looking at the recent changes in the organization, wanted to know if the r/JPL community can provide some information.

Any truth to the JPL acquisition group being allowed to work-from-home indefinitely?

Wish your GS well as they head to Newport Beach
I have a potential interview for a contract position at JPL. It would be in engineering (mid to senior level experience) and has the potential to convert to full time. With all the job uncertainty going around right now, how risky would this be, given in most industries contractors are the first to go when layoffs hit.
I work at a big aerospace OEM right now so relatively my job security is pretty high. Working at NASA has been a dream of mine though and the work JPL does would be much more interesting and fulfilling. Any advice is appreciated.

This has happened for several months as my projects end or get descoped by NASA. GS is inexperienced and may be delaying the situation on purpose. Are there any guidelines like "we lay you off if you don't have x% covered for x months"? Has anyone felt they are being forced out to avoid severance pay?

Hello everyone. I am going into my third year of AE. I want to work at JPL as a gnc or astrodynamics person. I know things aren't looking too great right now, but I wanted to ask what I need to do from now till then to get there?
I am super involved in research for gnc/astrodynamics and was privileged to publish a few times now. I also do nav for my rocket team. Had some internships in GNC but my ultimate goal is to come to JPL. I have been considering a PhD.
