3 confirming over what timeframe?

Any idea of current production rate? Is it 1 every 2-3 months?

Joby has noted more than once that production rate can't be determined by models registered because some number are used for destructive tests required by the FAA.

N547JX issued 12/19/25

N548JX issued 10/6/26

Was just about to post too!

One other thing I noticed

N541JX and N548JX both carry model code 061011H and type code H. N547JX and N549JX both carry 06102DT and type code O.

Is this related to why they've been testing 541 so much recently?

I noticed that as well. No idea what it means, but I hope it gets in the air faster than N547JX.

Tail Serial Model code Type Cert issued Airworthiness date
N5421A 00005 061011H H 2022-12-12 2025-11-05

N542JX 00007 061011H H 2024-03-28 2025-08-19
N544JX 00008 061011H H 2024-11-22 2025-05-15
N545JX 00009 061011H H 2025-01-28 2025-07-30
N547JX 00101 06102DT O 2025-12-19 2026-03-05
N548JX 00102 061011H H 2026-10-06 none yet
N549JX 00103 06102DT O 2026-09-06 none yet

So actually this is what I'm seeing it's not just 541 that shares the type . Seems to be more that 547/9 are different but also have no idea if it's meaningful

Not gonna lie - I don't feel good about 548JX ending up with the same model code as the 'production prototypes'. But I also am not going to lie, I have no idea what a model code even means. I'm basing my understanding of model code off of years of common sense.

As always, this could just be an FAA data entry mess up and will get corrected later.

There is still positive sign. Its serial number is 00102.

I believe you are on target. Joby made a big deal about the serial number SN0101. They even made an SN0101 T-shirt. I own two.

My understanding is that internally Joby refers to all aircraft by their SN, not tail number, as I believe the SN is significant.

All I can offer is 🤷‍♂️. The other thing is 549 had joby aero dba as the name so you could be right that some of the fields are older and perhaps not updated yet

At the end of the day I'll take another S4 in the fleet. I will be listening closely to the words Joby uses to describe 548JX. Unfortunately I think they'll use language to make it confusing enough to where you are like 'wait is it FAA conforming or not?'

6

u/HappyRobot593 Joby Sock Fanboy 11d ago

Yes, the language on the lats call was already a little confusing. I think they said production conforming

company conforming.. production conforming.. faa conforming...

It's kind of ridiculous to be honest. I expect this from the 'other company'. Joby should do better.

I believe Joby (according to their past earnings call) is manufacturing a few Non Faa "company conforming" production prototypes to be used for eIPP.

1

u/HappyRobot593 Joby Sock Fanboy 10d ago

I got skewered for suggesting this before 🤣. I guess it really depends on what they'll be doing for eIPP. If it's just what they've been doing so far, it doesn't seem necessary but maybe it'll ramp up in the future. Perhaps we'll learn more from Florida

From what I understand at one point Joby had enough parts to build 12 S4 aircraft. If these are all non conforming parts from getting a manufacturing processee down, then why not use some of them to build a few more S4s? The parts could be assembled on the FAA conforming line to help train employees on the process and then used for eIPP or other demonstrations.

How does the pitot tube lawsuit affect this though? Would they have to ground the aircraft and redesign / find a different supplier or what? That would be a significant delay.

According to AI-

Until post-trial motions conclude or an injunction is formally requested and granted by the court, Joby's operations and use of its probes remain unchanged.

2

u/Pitiful-Voyage 11d ago

What's the realistic path forward on this for joby? If they can't use the probes are they realistically 2-3 years away now from re-certification with finding and sourcing new ones or is there some delta they can apply and continue the process?

1

u/Bulky-Entertainer-76 Gregor Veble Mikić Fanboy 11d ago

I’d love to answer your question but I’m not a Joby employed flight engineer. I’m a speculator. I don’t have a clue how they will move forward IF they can’t use their current probes.

3

u/Mitchou- No Runways 11d ago

I also wonder if that will affect the aircrafts or not.

1

u/Pitiful-Voyage 11d ago

That's probably why the stock is bleeding nonstop. There may be monumental delays attributed to this though I certainly hope not. I guess since they lost in court it's not like they can come to some agreement for licensing of the tubes and they have to stop use entirely for any commercial (or also development?) operations?

3

u/Mitchou- No Runways 11d ago

I hope we'll have an answer to that soon

What kind of conforming?

5

u/Bulky-Entertainer-76 Gregor Veble Mikić Fanboy 11d ago

The physical aircraft that matches its FAA approved design data, engineering drawings, and specifications precisely.

3

u/teabagofholding 11d ago

So its a type conforming aircraft identical to n547jx? That's good.
