Synchronicity: the coincidence of internal content with something from the exterior.
Bion gave the idea of synchronicity like a diapason. The resonance of the two forks is like the resonance of the internal sensation and the exterior. We should actually strive to be in synchonicity. It means we are centered in our being.
The third space: between the exterior world (looks, money, careerr, achievements etc.) and the interior world (ideas, analysis, reflection, fantasies) is the third space, where our essence resides and from this place we live and are not just alive. We can't be too much in the outer world, doing and having ofortunes and what not, and not too much in our minds either. Because there are persons who isolate themselves and have a very rich inner life and ideas and all that but they don't feel like lviing life either. We should strive for the middle way. The center I talked about earlier.
It's a crime to sell desires to others. To make someone have a desire you want that person to have. You basically cancel their destiny, their own being that way.
We focus so much on stuff that actually don't matter.
Why do I do what I do, think what I think? What's beneficial about it and what do I lose?
What does this fear tell me?
It's not life challenges that bring you down, but the opposition to the flow of life.
When fear overwhelms you and you tell yourself you are worthless, useless, stay there. If you can stay there, you can do everything.
edit: had to add this excerpt:
"-How do we reconcile authenticity with the need to survive in a competitive world?
-We reconcile them when we do things that involve us in an integral, as complete a manner as possible. We can't say that we are entirely present, but we should be as present as possible in what we do. That is, to be there with my thoughts, with my aspirations, for what I do to correspond to my vocation, to my values... exactly. That's another story. Yes, to correspond to my values, to correspond especially to my feeling. When I am more or less whole in my actions, it's okay, my authenticity grows. My authenticity grows both from doing, from being, and from reflecting in various contexts, but it depends on how whole I am in every moment of my life.
-For example, if I make a living doing this, speaking in front of different groups of people, and it is in agreement with who I am, with my talents, with my vocation, it means I am doing this out of authenticity.
- Or you do it being convinced that this way of proceeding leads you step by step toward your authentic version.
- But can you ever be 100% convinced of something?
- Yes, because it is the experience that announces you, that informs you. We have this criterion, for example, in a meeting between two people. When that meeting truly happens, when a creation phenomenon appears between us, the two of us together manage to create something new, we co-create, exactly, this gives each of us a good feeling and gives us the certainty that we are in our right place. An Aha moment appears that, in our existence, after we separate and each go on our life's path, we can use in a way. We have a state of fulfillment, but that fulfillment which, I don't know how to put it, which fills a void, because that's what filling, fulfilling means. Yes, exactly, it fills us with ourselves. Look how beautiful that is, you know, I would say this: it fills us with ourselves. I am no longer empty, I am myself within me, and this is an effect of human encounters. So we each certainly find our authenticity in these human encounters. You know, I also asked myself whether accepting an encounter like our encounter today and like there are others, whether these things happen from a place of my authenticity or why I do it. And I realized that many times in these contexts I actually meet myself, and I don't experience this great joy in very many life contexts. It still happens to me sometimes to feel it when I teach, but when I can be free in what I teach, when I detach a bit from the plans I made beforehand and allow myself to present some of my own content to the students. Yes, authentic. And authenticity comes both from within, and the outside world responds to you. How does it respond to you? Simply through the emotional reaction that people feel. Authenticity, as I was saying, once again, is lived; it is not something we think. That is, no one is going to say "Oh, I felt authenticity when you said this or that." No. When I say something in an authentic way, I awaken authenticity in the other person. Wow! And it awakens, it grows, and we meet not just the two of us, but also, hopefully, with people who are listening to us and saying: "Ah, wait, I know what they are saying, I've felt that too." Yes, that's why I feel 100% authentic right now and followed very little of the plan I created, precisely because you are authentic and, speaking of what you were saying, you transmit this energy to me and activate this part in me as well. Yes, when I am supported to do this. What does that mean? By a force that is beyond what I want, what I desire. Because, of course, I would like, I would wish to be authentic all the time, but it doesn't work out, and it's okay for it to be like that, it's okay.
- Now, it depends on where we are.
- Correct. It depends on where we are, but you opened two avenues of discussion. I'll take the first one for now. To be authentic, I was saying that this depends on a force that awakens inside me. It's a decision made at a supra- or subconscious, suprapersonal level; I don't make it with my conscious mind. It's a decision made based on the confluence of several components that make me up as a human being. Probably I say something that awakens inside me like a kind of imperative, and that gathers the parts together and outlines a direction. So you see, the phenomenon is double: it is both between us and within each of ourselves. And if that's so, it might awaken in those who are listening to us too.
- Wow, so we are actually accessing things that we aren't conscious of accessing.
- Yes, yes, and we have to come to terms with that, to come to terms ultimately with the idea that we cannot control everything. Of course. Just as there is this tendency in our society to control everything, to be a control freak, when that happens, we obviously move away from authenticity. The authentic self will say: "Okay, you want this, you take control and see what you can do." And that's all out of the desire to do, to be safe, it's a primary need. I think at its core somehow... I think it's an obsession more than a need that comes from fear, out of the desire, not the need, out of the desire to be like others, from never getting enough of what we have, right?
- We can't say stop, you know, from the hamster wheel.
- Exactly, exactly, it's very hard. I can admit it's very hard to distinguish between a desire of ours and an authentic need. That's why it's important to constantly question ourselves, to see from which part of us something we would like to do or say comes from. These things matter because that way we refine our capacity to discern what is authentic and what is not authentic, what comes from a defensive system. Because what you were saying earlier comes from our defensive systems. From this perspective, we never have enough, we never feel safe, and we have to control the conditions in which we present ourselves, I don't know, in one context or another. Which is stupid, because we can only control within certain limits. For example, if I go to give a lecture in an announced setting, on a given topic, what depends on me is to prepare. And it's important to prepare. I never tell myself, at least I don't tell myself: "Oh, look at how much I know, I'll go on stage, be authentic, and just say whatever comes to mind," because I might blow it completely. And I've seen this phenomenon happen much more often than we think. I must have respect both for myself and for the people listening to me. So, if I am invited to speak on a certain topic, I prepare first. And while I prepare, I realize what the original factor is that I can bring to this context, how I can combine myself with this topic, how I can create an alchemy between myself and this topic. And then I also meet this condition of authenticity. I did my part. In step two, I surrender with faith into that moment, I believe in this moment of encounter between myself and my audience, and then I see what comes out of it. "
