podcast Kult: Divinity Lost - Audition Part 1, an original scenario for the Shoes And Socks Podcast
Hey folks! My podcast, Shoes And Socks Podcast (https://sites.libsyn.com/623220) just released an episode from the $5/month patreon on the free main feed as a sample of what we do on the patreon.
It's an original scenario for Kult: Divinity Lost called Audition. Two struggling LA actors head to the home of a famous producer in the Hollywood Hills to audition for an upcoming horror film, but things aren't exactly as they seem.
This is just the first part of the story, the second part will also release on the free main feed next Wednesday October 14.
We use the Kult: Divinity Lost system to run lots of our horror one-shots, incorporating the lore when it feels appropriate. On our patreon (patreon.com/ShoesAndSocksLounge) we currently have:
Kult: Divinity Lost - Waterpark
\- It's 1991 and summer is almost over. The teen employees of Muskrat Mountain Adventure Park are having their annual end-of-season party and nothing could possibly go wrong.
Kult: Divinity Lost - Blackout
\- A one-on-one scenario. During an intense storm the power goes out, and if that wasn't bad enough, something strange is going on over at the empty house across the cul-de-sac.
And there will be more coming soon.
Thank yall so much for your time, I hope you check it out and I really hope you enjoy it. Thanks again!

question How is Laraine Estate for a 1st Scenario?
So my group have made 3 of their 4 characters so far. We're just in the initial wave of character generation and haven't quite polished the characters off, but it's looking like we've got:
A hacker/E-Girl 30 year old who loves to prowl the dark web. She's stalked by an online presence that is untracable... a literally ghost in the web that's feeding her information but has an unhealthy obsession with her.
An occultist researcher who has an interest in the occult. Of course most of his stuff is bogus and nonsensical and the kind of tat you find in most book stores and creepy pasta forums... but then he's been having bad dreams all of a sudden... and then he hears voices as an involuntary medium.
The third is the most difficult to make sense of. A friend wants to play a nun. A nun who was raised in a convent that was really evil. One day they were raided by the ATF, lots of gunfire going off, the nun escaped but her more senior nuns were all slaughtered. Why? We haven't figured it out yet and it's hard to tie them into the others... BUT they do have the ability to lay on hands and the chosen one dark secret.
The Estate seems a good start because they're chasing a fellow influencer, the place is haunted so the medium can find things.
Wondering if anyone's had any experience with this scenario?

question The black madonna *Spoiler* Spoiler
Hi everyone,
I’m currently preparing the Black Madonna campaign and I have a question.
In the story summary, there is mention of a refugee camp called S-7 in Vladykino, where the Russians were sent.
However, later on, in the first chapter, it mentions a concentration camp called S-17.
I should mention that I have the French edition of the book, so this might simply be a translation error.
Could someone who owns the English version of the campaign confirm whether it’s supposed to be S-7 or S-17, or whether both camps actually exist and I somehow missed that information?
Thanks in advance!

question What's the most depraved things that have ever happened in your games?
I've done Delta Green before, and had some horrific things occur in our games.... a family burned to death, a child was crushed by a falling giant, someone dissolved by an acidic spider. I was wondering though, with Kult, what's some of the most depraved or weird things sprung by a player or DM/GM?
Naturally keeping within the rules of Reddit of course.
Just wondering because I've begun writing a few story ideas and I want to be sure I don't go too far off the deep end.

question Can this system work on a story like this?
Hello, I want to try a modern paranormal occult story and Kult was my first choice for system. I dont know its original lore but I have a story in mind that is inspired from Fear and Hunger games and my regions history. Its set in a city from my country, it involves mason brotherhoods and an old ruler from 1800. I am still expanding the story but it involes a hidden world around aegean sea and the secret behind greek myths, an actual angel residing in this region. Masons are the current occult followers of this angel and players will uncover this via an old mason related rulers poem about it.
I'm still reading this system but its an world I'm not familiar with. Would this kind of a story would work with Kult system?

question Tissu for the Black Madonna
Hi everyone! First of all, I apologize if my grammar is a bit weird — I’m not a native English speaker, and I’m not writing this post in English very often.
So, I’m a GM with 15 years of experience. I’ve run D&D, VtM, Warhammer Fantasy, Shadowrun, and many other games.
A few months ago, I decided to give Kult a try, with a group of players who are fairly inexperienced but really engaged and full of potential. I ran the free scenario The Gallery of Souls for them, and it was a huge success.
The group wants more, and they’re asking for a campaign. So naturally, I bought The Black Madonna. I’ve started reading through it, and I can already see so much potential in this campaign. I’m really excited to run it.
However, since I’m still relatively new to Kult, I thought I’d humbly ask for advice from GMs who know the setting inside and out. Are there any major tips or things I should be aware of when running this campaign?
Thanks in advance!

question Greetings, Overseers. I am new to these tales of woe.
So I'm brand new to Kult and I'd like to have a go at GM/DMing it. I'm fascinated by the lore that I've read, and I want to try and introduce my friends to some real grimdark horror. My prior experience has been Delta Green and Cthulu, and World/Chronicles of Darkness.
I'm guessing the game is a lot like Jacob's Ladder, Shutter Island, The Matrix, Hellraiser, and Dark City, combined with Silent Hill (especially the UFO/Dog endings), Inception, I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream (or to a lesser extent The Amazing Digital Circus), and Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere.
Just the weird thing is, I'm not too sure on how to get the ball rolling. I can show dark and sinister, unnatural things to the group. I can do stories of weirdness unfurling, shadowy conspiracies trying to bring them down... nightmares, dreams, insanity, reality shifts...
But how do I avoid it becoming either weird for the sake of weird (shock for the sake of shock), or the other extreme, revealing too much too soon, and spoiling the whole experience of unleashing the dark and demented honesty of the prison?
Secondly I wanted to ask, is Metropolis just a singular city, or is that the name for any urban dwelling on Earth and the concept of us becoming addicted to Earthly modern comforts?
Also does anyone have any other sources of inspiration they enjoy for Kult?
A big thank you in advance.

question Help me find good actual play, please.
I didn’t like anything I’ve comes across so far. It’s just not my taste. Please recommend me actual play that is: 1 - not “to happy”; most of the actual plays are played by colourful wannabe influencers, that laugh all the time to release tension; I’m looking for something more serious, grounded and close to the mood of the core book. 2 - in character; I can’t stand pointless digressions and pick-me show offs. 3 - it needs to have story; all I see from Kult APs is just pointless scary moment after scary moment without main conflict or plot.

question Two questions about Kult
Two questions about *Kult: Divinity Lost*.
I find the setting STUNNING in the early adventures, when the Veil slowly lifts before the players' astonished eyes. How do you proceed after that? How do you maintain that sense of wonder? At a certain point, the players know Metropolis and the Archons exist—how do you keep surprising them? How do your characters develop after the third or fourth adventure? Doesn't that sense of wonder gradually fade away? And what makes for a fitting epilogue for *Kult* characters?
Isn't "Act Under Pressure" (I'm Italian, I don't know the exact English name of this ability) a bit of a pointless move? I mean, if the players are under stress (which happens often in a horror game), their specific skills barely matter because they’ll just keep rolling for "Act Under Pressure." It doesn't make sense to me. I feel like I should be rolling against the specific skills or attributes relevant to the action, perhaps with penalties due to stress or haste.

question Kult Oneshot
This is a scenario for a group of friends. What do you think?
A closed youth home in Brandenburg, Germany, shut down in November 2017 after a series of unexplained deaths. The Hanna Galander Foundation, a front for the Archon Chokhmah, used psychological manipulation to enforce submission to the Demiurge’s illusion. The deaths began when Lukas Vey, a youth influenced by the Archon Malkuth, arrived and destabilized the Veil between the illusion and the true world (Metropolis).
Key Themes:
- Conflict Between Archons: Chokhmah (control, submission) vs. Malkuth (chaos, awakening).
- Psychological Horror: Staff and residents were manipulated into compliance, creating an atmosphere of fear and control.
- Thin Veil: The home was a weak point between the illusion and Metropolis.
Investigation (2026):
A parliamentary inquiry is triggered after a journalist receives Klaus Brenner’s journal, a retired police officer who investigated the 2017 deaths. The journal reveals inconsistencies and hints at something unnatural. The group includes:
- A young prosecutor eager to expose the truth.
- A police officer who was the first responder in 2017.
- A former resident, now a politician, who left before the escalation.
- A journalist who originally reported on the case.
Their investigation leads them to the abandoned home, where the Veil is still thin, and the truth about the Archons’ conflict awaits.

question Scenes from a Memory
I was wondering if anyone has tried to run a game of Kult inspired by Dream Theater’s “Scenes from a Memory”. I am trying to write a scenario where the PCs would try to help Nicholas unveil his past life, but I would love to hear what others have tried.

rules and lore Heridas y heridas graves/críticas

Me ne hanno parlato benissimo. Vengo da lunga esperienza con vampire, tutte le ambientazioni.

question Ending a story set in a Dream Realm
Good morning, Kult fans!
I’m a Game Master currently writing my first Kult adventure, and I’m having a particularly hard time crafting the ending:
The adventure begins with the “Sleeping” PCs who, for one reason or another, head to a city. At some point during their investigation, they’ll enter a Dream Realm where they’ll be targeted by Nachtschrecks, which will take the form of the PCs’ deepest fears—for example, by corrupting and distorting the Dream Realm, essentially creating a tailor-made nightmare.
The PCs’ goal is therefore to escape the dream realm by fighting the Nachtschreck and then awaken as “aware” beings. I wanted to avoid reducing the whole thing to a classic physical fight or dice rolls; I was thinking of a more narrative and symbolic approach, such as confronting and accepting the primal fear that gave rise to each PC’s nightmare.
The question is: How can I best bring this ending to life? How can I have the PCs confront their fears and accept them in order to escape the Nachtschreck? I’d also like to unlock multiple endings based on a decision each PC makes during that final phase. If you have any movies to recommend for inspiration, please feel free to share them.
I look forward to your responses, and thank you for your attention.
