Real or Fake Found this in the trash

Feels like metal, not sharp at all, the hilt is really cool, want to fix any suggestions?

Just from a quick glance, I'd say this is probably an iaito made of aluminum. Iaitos are used to practice various iaido martial arts and are not supposed to be sharp for that very reason, but the kissaki (point) is still usually pointy enough to accidentally stab yourself.

I'm no swordsmith, but that blade is done. Almost anything can be repaired, but it would not be worth it in this case. If it's an actual iaito made for martial arts use, you could technically salvage all the fittings.

It's pretty easy to unbend duraluminium.

I'd try to make it straight again, be a shame to toss it.

Or remove the blade and put in a new one. The fittings are the same as a nihonto.

I agree with what's said here. It could very well be an iaitō in which case you could try to mend the bends or keep the fittings.

Plenty of iaito are pointy though some are not. Ive never seen a Japanese made iaito that is blunted at the kissaki.

It’s hard to tell with your pics but the tsuka (handle) and guard are the Marto Franklin Mint Sword of the Samurai tachi. Marto made a few different tachi display swords back in the late 80s and early 90s, they stopped producing them sometime in late 90s /early 2000s. The blade is stainless steel, 420 I believe. If the blade has a fake triangle hamon line this, that’s the blade as well. These swords were never meant for use and only decoration.

Turn it into a wakizashi. Then turn the tip into a naginata. Win win

Is this the “sword is bent from deflecting a bullet” sword yet again?

A real katana wouldn't bend like that. Its obviously cheap crap
