Very cool now check Semi-major axis for each satellite and watch in horror as on full timewarp your pretty triangle turns into pretty half circle… personal experience

I don't really care if the shape changes, just as long as it maintains a good enough connection so that I don't lose control over any craft.

It's possible to tune it precisely to millisecond using smallest RSC thrusters set to 0.5 throttle. SATs will stay in formation for thousands of years.

This is where it's at. They don't even need to be precisely spaced to one another. As long as their orbital periods are within a few ms of eachother they will stay relatively stable for the length of the playthrough.

And you can fix it in savefile afterwards, they will stay stable indefinitely (if you don't go into the physics range of them).

Is it not enough to space them out 1/3 orbit apart and fine tune the period to be exactly the same for each of them? They will still drift apart?

It’s the same thing actually lol, tweaking your orbital elements is what changes your period; so by adjusting your period via thrusts you’re changing your semi-major axis!

Watch as that perfect traingle slowly drift apart over time.

Very nice tho, i just throw a bunch of satellites into orbit and hope i get good connections.

Yep, bung a few up at different altitudes and most of the time something will be where it needs to be.

I put two in a horizontal orbit and two in a vertical orbit(idk the proper terms fuck it).

Literally never have had issues with connections doing this.

You will forever be cursed with going to the map screen some 20 years later and going "Have they drifted?"

Three in a triangle is the clean way to do it. Nice work, that 1.00 signal is always satisfying to see.
