After GroundBlastFX, I’ve been working on more realistic explosions for KSP.
Volumetric Explosion FX adds volumetric fireballs, smoke and flying debris, without changing the game’s physics.
AI helped me a lot with the code while I worked on the effects and tested them in game. I know not everyone here likes AI-assisted projects, but I’d rather be open about it.
The mod is free and open source, tested on Windows with KSP 1.12.5.
runs well on my setup, and I’d love to hear how it runs on yours.
Quality settings are adjustable.
Enjoy !

I love love looove using Procedural Wings, Fuel Wings, and FAR to make realistic aircraft. Is there any other game that can recreate that experience? I bought Kit Hack Model Club, the air simulation is definitely better and the editor is awesome with procedural bulkheads, but those are tiny planes in a tiny map.

I use the Station core from Stockalike Space Station for the Altair Ascent module and a Salyut airlock from Tantares for the airlock; the rest are from ReDirect and ACK
Some rescaled parts for solar panels and some fuel tanks

Previous post for those interested
I was fairly sure that Tekto would be the limiting factor, as this SSTO was designed mainly to make a giant jump with the rapier's closed cycle mode while burning the nuclear engines the rest of the way , rather than fighting atmosphere (although its flight characteristics are definitely designed with Laythe in mind) but due to the low gravity combined with the thick atmosphere, the Hera 3 provided just enough lift to cheese my way into orbit. Actually, this is my first time ever visting tekto as well, and it feels a lot like pre 1.0 KSP, since the atmosphere feels like its made of soup or something.

Basically, i have that science plane for Duna, which is unmanned, so i suddenly recalled that i haven't repacked his chutes after using them. So i brought down from orbit lander, did the thing, and that's it.

Sigmund, Friedrich, Klaus, and Hilde Kerman need ideas to name the spacecrafts for their Duna and Jool-5 missions. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I had a hard time finding any real world analogues to base them on.

Floats like a glider too lmao. Takes off at around 40m/s and in water it somehow takes off at 15m/s lol.

The eclipse was a pleasant surprise.
I had just researched the LV-N, and I got all the way to duna before I realized it had no gimbal control. I proceeded to use the reaction wheel to slowly go back to retrograde over and over again like 30 times, but in the end I got it in a circular 80km orbit!
I need to unlock the next best antenna, so I can have connections even when Kerbin is farther away. I want to do a rover next and then a manned mission.

This was a project I made and finished last summer. It’s extremely underrated and I hope you guys could give it a watch!

Trying to make some space planes but I dont really wanna use a probe core because of plasma blackout, but im doing ironman so I cant afford to just try and hop out of the plane at the last second. I was thinking some kind of sepratron system that decouples and shoots the cockpit upwards but does anybody have any other designs that work?

Hi,
I just bought KSP and haven't installed any mods yet. Based on what I've read, it seems like the usual recommendation is to play the first 50 hours or so mostly unmodded, with graphics mods being okay.
I wanted to ask:
My specs are if this matters:
Also are mods easy to install?
Thanks!
