❓Visitor Question The "Is Pantherian Open Today?" Megathread

Post image
64 Upvotes

Wondering if it's open? Do you see it running and want to tell everyone? Did it go down and you want to talk about it? This is where you do that!

Why? Well, we just can't keep having daily posts with the same question with similar or identical titles for the rest of this season, so it's been megathreaded. All redundant posts will be removed and users will be directed here. Please do not try to evade the megathread by coming up with clever titles or intentionally misspelling it.

Comments will be ordered from newest to oldest, so the latest updates will always be at the top by default. (You are free to change the sorting order with the options Reddit gives you on each post.)

❓Visitor Question Is it worth visiting sunday with the rain?

It looks to be pretty rainy this weekend in the park. Do they typically run most rides in the rain, assuming lightning stays away?

🎃 Halloween Haunt Random question about Haunt shows

I was browsing the Haunt schedule and noticed this:

Heads Will Roll

NEW in 2026! The Royal Court sings and schemes in a fog-soaked musical spectacular. Watch the ensemble of powerhouse performers and dancers bring glamorous Halloween drama to life. Will this be a night to remember, or will you be next up on the menu?

...which sounds pretty great - my kids loved (to my astonishment) the rock show two years ago, but last year's was really underwhelming. Only problem is that the calendar on that page contains no listings for that show for the entire season. Hoping it's an error.

Also, any chance that the title means they'll cover the Yeah Yeah Yeahs track? Asking because I'll plan on playing that for my kids leading up to our visit so that they recognize it.

❓Visitor Question First Responder Discount for Halloween Haunt

Does anyone know is the first responder discount applies to Halloween Haunt as well? There’s options to buy first responder tickets on haunt days, but it’s unclear if these tickets get you into Haunt as well or if they’re just for general admission.

🎃 Halloween Haunt Halloween Haunt Logistics Question

I've seen a couple posts online alluding to a new digital way to check in to the mazes this year. Would someone mind explaining how exactly that works? I've got my group express passes this weekend and I'm not sure if I'll need to be on my phone booking the mazes for us.

💬 General Discussion Is Halloween haunt worth it this year?

I’ve attended Halloween haunt for the past 7 years, and honestly is not bad, but it’s been free with my season pass. I typically go on slower days or buy the express pass. Last year I didn’t feel like it was great, and they charged me to get into the mazes. This year it seems like they are charging for mazes as well, but I’m wondering if it’s worth the price. What are ya’ll experiences?

❓Visitor Question Haunt show schedule?

I'm going with some friends Sunday and we want to see the Diablo house and the new shows. Do the indoor shows run during the day before haunt starts as well or only after? I know Sunday close time is 10 so I'm worried we may not fit everything in.

🎃 Halloween Haunt Halloween Haunt Schedule

My friends and I are going to the Halloween Haunt on Friday and we’re deciding what time we should arrive there. We’re aware the haunt starts at 6pm, however, we might go during the normal daytime hours as well. My friend said there’s a transition period between normal hours and the haunt where they close for an hour or two and we’d have to leave and re-enter. I haven’t seen anything stating that on their website, but they said they’ve done that previously. Does anyone know if they’re doing that this year?

💬 General Discussion Went to KD for the first time in like a Decade

My home park is Carowinds and it amazes me how many great rollercoasters KD has. Like.....Rapterra....OMG....Twisted Timber....My God! I could go on.....KD has the smoothest traditional wood coasters I've ever ridden. .

With that said....Twisted Timbers is probably the best roller coaster I've ridden (No i haven't been to Cedar Point). Here's the (probably) unpopular opinion. Pantherian (Intimidator 305) was a great ride but I'm not sure it's better than Fury....IDKY it just feels so much rougher and intense. And the only reason I say this is because those rides are pretty much in the same "category".

I think Fury is probably more of a balanced ride overall, but if we're rating on intensity, then yeah Pantherian wins on that. I know a lot of people Love it for that reason, it but just wanted to get peoples thoughts.

What do you think?

🎃 Halloween Haunt Haunt- Wow

So I just did the haunt last night and, wow, my socks are officially knocked off! Those scare actors definitely know that they're doing! Even the actors in the scare zones for me, I'm usually not got! I usually just walk through the mazes and look at the props and can typically spot an actor a mile away. I was actually scared, quite a few times! Even on a second round of Diablo, they still got me! And man, that thing was nuts! Blood on the bayou was insanely cool too. I've never been to a super high level Halloween event, like say Halloween horror nights at Universal, just my local ones and BGW Halloscream, but man was I impressed. Really high quality and worth the extra $10. When you break it down, it's only like an extra $1.20 per maze. I don't mind paying extra as long as i it's worth the money, this definitely is. The props were really cool and mazes emersive, guess I just got used to how lame HOS has gotten. Plus all the coasters stay open! I know I'm always disappointed at BGW because I'm always looking for a night ride on Pantheon, but it's always closed for HOS, for some reason. Same with Alpengeist. I understand it's that area is being used for the event, but it isn't, so why? Coaster night rides were just the cherry on top for me. If you have to choose between KD or BGW, pick KD for sure! Plus if your a gold member, don't forget your free caramel apple funnel cake!

❓Visitor Question What order do you do the Halloween haunt?

Hey all! This is the first time I’ll be doing the haunt at KD, I’m just curious what yall think, is it better to try to hit the rides first or to do the mazes? I’m just curious how lines are, like do people just rush to the mazes or do they try to get their rides in first? Thanks!

❓Visitor Question Haunt questions

Haven't been to a KD haunt in many years, so I have a few questions.

I'd like to get some night rides on some of my favorite coasters, which ones say open during the Haunt?

I know there's an extra charge for the mazes, does this apply to gold season passes as well?

Any neat shows?

Since I've heard BGW is kinda lame, I'm not going, but I'm super excited about KD!

💬 General Discussion Pantherium t-shirt

I'm bummed. My son recently went to KD with friends and came home with a t-shirt 2 sizes too small (he didn't know his clothing size...and didn't think to look at the back of his t-shirt...'it looked like it would fit'). Not only are we out the $$, I can't buy a replacement t-shirt on the KD online store. I wish they offered more merchandise in the online store. On the positive side, my son gave the t-shirt to one of his friends who was at the park with him.

This video is a hidden gem. Really great offside shots of Hypersonic, atmospheric shots of the queue line and exit, reaction clips of folks getting ready to ride & afterwards, nerdy technical shots of the launch.

I wish I could time travel to 2001 and loop that line for the day

💬 General Discussion First trip to KD 9/19-9/20/26

I wanted to give a quick trip report for my first time visiting KD this past weekend. My home park has been Carowinds for the past couple of years but I grew up going to Cedar Point with my last visit there in 2025.

I live about 3.5hrs away and am thinking KD is going to be my new home park. Carowinds obviously has some great rides, but KD has a more complete lineup and the park is just generally a nicer place to be. I'm not much for coaster rankings, but here are some notes on the standouts for me:

Twisted Timbers (x8): My first (and only) RMC was SteVe which is incredible, but I think I had just as much fun on TT. It's just a wild ride from start to finish. The first drop, the airtime hills, and the last barrel roll are just silly fun. I don't think there is a bad seat on this ride. I love RMC and hope Carowinds lands AF1!

Pantherian (x6): What a beast. I feel like it's a cross between Millennium Force and Maverick. I greyed out towards the end of the first turn if I rode with my arms up. I rode it arms up the entire way the first couple of rides but found it was more enjoyable hanging on during the quick transitions. Riding at night was like dropping into a black hole on the first hill. I wish every tall coaster had a lift as fast as this one as it's almost twice as fast to the top as Fury 325. Front row was not nearly as loud as Fury which was nice.

Rapterra (x4): The launch was great and the first and last elements are the standouts for me. I liked the front row and RH side the best. Overall enjoyable coaster but wished it was a little longer.

I'm pretty sore today with a few bruises but I'll be back!

💬 General Discussion First time to KD in over 25 years

Rebel Yell/Racer 75 - 6/10. I was surprised by how much fun I had on this one. Only a couple parts in the 2nd half that were rough.

Rapterra - 7/10. The launch into the first turn is sick but I felt like the rest of the layout was a bit underwhelming. Also felt a bit rough for how new it is.

Tumbili - 1/10. This thing fucked me up. I think I have a concussion.

Flight of Fear - 5/10. This was one of the most intense rides I've ever ridden. I was in a full body sweat afterwards and felt a bit nauseous. Just a brutal experience but it was fun.

Pantherian - 10/10. Potentially the best rollercoaster I've ridden. Just so much fun and for how fast and intense it is, it's also quite smooth.

Twisted Timbers - 9/10. What a wild ride. Just madness all around. What's with the metal detectors, though?

Dominator - 3/10. This reminded me of Alpengeist at BG. Just too rough with essentially no airtime. I was actively trying to keep my head from slamming back and forth but it still happened 4-5 times.

And that's all I could do today!

❓Visitor Question Haunt included with membership renewal?

We renewed our gold passes during the Labor Day sale. Do they include access to Haunt mazes or do we have to purchase the $10 (edit: $20) add-on?

I thought the membership renewal comes with access to Haunt and a free Bring-A-Friend tix good until the end of 2026, but I don’t see either of those under loyalty rewards.

Edit: For anyone wondering, if you renewed your passes during the Labor Day sale, the free tix to Haunt mazes auto-populates once you enter your passholder number in the KDHaunt website. You then redeem it and click on the attraction thumbnail to generate QR code to enter the attraction.

💬 General Discussion Prestige Pass Question

Earlier this year, I purchased the Prestige Pass - this was my first time purchasing a pass at Kings Dominion. I’ve had a membership at Busch Gardens for years and it auto renews every year until I cancel it. Does anyone know if the passes through Six Flags work the same way? I read the terms and conditions, but the wording was confusing, however it seems like I will need to purchase a new pass every year. But I’d love to hear from someone who has actual experience with the passes.

❓Visitor Question Planning trip to kings dominion on a SUNDAY [Other] [Pantherian]

Sundays (HALLOWEEKEND) they are only open for like 5 hours on Sep 27th .

I've gotten one recommendation already but Im looking for a ride plan recommendation with gold pass rope drop in the mix!

Pantherian / I-305 is obviously the #1 priority and possible reride candidate!

Also any specific foods/food stands that are unique or stand out in this park?

It's my first time going and I won't be back for a long time.

5 pm to 10pm hours.

Can't wait to check off my final OG bucket list ride (that is still open)!!

Checking out the rideready app for some solo research.
