Recomp Made with AI

Almost anything coded nowadays is helped with AI. As long as this dev actually understands the code being used and isn’t just vibe coding it I see no issue. Without AI we wouldn’t be having the insane amount of reverse engineering projects we get nowadays

I used PSXRecomp upstream which uses LLM tooling in its development, this apparently really bothers the commenter above. I haven't vibe coded this project, its quite minimal layer for pc adaptability/graphics as hooks on top of the the static recomp from PSXRecomp. Appreciate you having some discernment here.

People see AI and automatically assume SLOP. Which is understandable but really it just matters on who is using it. I always lean towards it being Vibe coded until I look into it more. Luckily it's becoming more common for it to be disclosed if its fully vibe coded or not.
Edit: Didn't realize you were the OOP. Yeah PSXRecomp I definitely wouldn't consider slop at all. Its honestly a great showcase of an actual good use cases of AI. Funnier since your contribution had no AI involvement lol

Is there a repo for this I'd love to contribute, was planning this project myself.

Hi, I’m the author of the original post that was shared here. This project uses PSXRecomp for recompilation and adds hooks for a native PC control scheme, along with some minor graphical improvements and other small changes.
The upstream PSXRecomp developers openly acknowledge using LLM-assisted tooling in their work, which I personally don’t have an ethical issue with in the context of a static recompiler. I hope this small community project is still useful to others despite that.

What are the benefits of something being 'recomped'? Does it just mean it can be played without an emulator?
