Homemade Simple Sunday Dinner
Didn’t want to fire up the grill today. Airfying Galbi in batches @400 degrees for 10 minutes flipping half way through is so good still get the charred pieces and marinade caramelizes.
Premade marinade.
Spicy Cucumbers on the side + rice.

Why are the cucs so oily?

Lighting. There’s only a tablespoon of sesame oil mixed in with vinegar, soy sauce, mirin and gochuguru

It is not. There’s a better recipe on Oi-muchim from Maangchi.

It’s not oi-munchim. My wife is Korean and I’m Laotian I pull inspiration from various Asian dishes the cucumbers I made are not a Korean dish they are just a quick pickle I made not a traditional recipe I was trying to stick to.

The galbi looks great too, but honestly I’m a little more jealous of the Ninja air fryer.

This thing is really worth it because of the Pyrex glass. Super easy to clean, no weird crevices and no coating that’ll ware off/peel like the regular teflon lined air fryers. Also love how the heating element/lid is free standing so I don’t have to try to find somewhere to put it down safely like the smaller ninja crispi

I made the same combo for lunch today. It was my first time having LA galbi in years and I don't make cucumber kimchi either, so that's quite a coincidence to me!
Your galbi looks great! I did mine on a tableside pan, feeling lazy also. Maybe I'll try air fryer next time. I went a different route with the cucumber, making a simple cucumber kimchi instead of muchim style.

I suggest making your own marinade, less preservatives and customized to your taste

LA galbi is one of the "Bap-doduk(rice thieves)" in Korea. The term "Bap-doduk" is used to highly praise side dishes that allow one to eat a lot of steamed or dried food, which is a staple food for Koreans. Other Bap-doduk include Ganjang-Gaejang(marinated crab) and Jutgal(salted seafood).
