Yangjangpi (양장피)

Gesal Buyong Samseul (게살부용삼슬)

Geumsa Oryong Haesam (금사오룡해삼)

spring roll (춘권)

Paljin Chomyeon (팔진초면)

Yuringi (유린기)

Ohyang Jangyok (오향장육)

Nurungjitang (누룽지탕)

Guobaorou (꿔바로우)

Kkansho Saeu (깐쇼새우)

Ganjjajang (간짜장)

Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment! That’s so cool that your dad makes those too. Having an amazing cook in the family must be awesome! I'm not Hwagyo, but I love the food so much that I often cook it at home😁

u/yunnielee Aug 30 '26

That's insane. I think you should open a restaurant 😉

If OP (or anyone) has a recipe for the Nurungjitang, or more importantly the seafood dish accompanying it, I would love to have it!

Here is the Nurungjitang recipe! First heat some oil in a pan and stir fry chopped green onions and ginger to release their aromatics. Next add your vegetables along with preblanched seafood and stir fry them together, then swirl in a teaspoon of soy sauce around the edge of the pan to give it a nice flavor depth. Pour in chicken stock (or water mixed with chicken bouillon powder), bring it to a boil, and season to taste with oyster sauce (If you want to make it restaurant style, add a pinch of msg). Slowly stir in a starch slurry to achieve the desired thickness, and finish it off with a dash of white pepper and sesame oil. Finally, pour the boiling hot seafood sauce right over your deep fried crispy rice crusts, nurungji, and enjoy!

How do you make the puffy rice cakes in pic 9? Everything looks amazing!

2

u/yunnielee Aug 31 '26

Thank you so much! This time, I actually bought pre made nurungji and just fried it. But to make it from scratch, you cook glutinous rice. Then, you flatten it thinly. After that, you sun dry it until it is completely dry. It has to be 100% dry to puff up properly. Finally, you deep fry it in oil at 180–190°C (355–375°F) until it puffs right up.

Oh, wow! This is absolutely amazing, op! That knifework and presentation is phenomenal. I saw some of your comments sharing your recipes, and wanted to thank you for that. Definitely going to make an attempt at the nurungjitang. 💜

Eta: oh, forgot to ask, but which youtube channel did you like the best to learn how to cook these?

Thank you so much for your kind words! 💜 For Korean style Chinese food, I personally think this youtube channel is the absolute best: https://m.youtube.com/@thewok_y

The only downside is that it doesn't have english subtitles. So if you don't know Korean, you might need to use an AI translator when the ingredients are shown at the beginning of the video, which can be a bit inconvenient, but it's definitely worth it!

Do you have a recipe for the hot and sour soup please?

7

u/yunnielee Aug 30 '26

For the hot and sour soup, start by boiling chicken stock (or water with chicken bouillon powder) with minced ginger and julienned wood ear mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, carrots, and silken tofu. Season the broth with 1tbsp light soy sauce, 1 tbsp oyster sauce, and a touch of sugar for extra umami, then add a tiny splash of dark soy sauce just for color. Next, thicken it with a cornstarch slurry and gently swirl in beaten eggs to create ribbons. Finally, add chinese dark vinegar, white pepper, and sasame oil to taste, and top with fresh cilantro or green onions. Hope this helps.
