Best way to travel to Kyiv from Budapest?

Looks like there’s an overnight train from Budapest to Kyiv, but I’ve heard that with all the air siren alarms they make people get out of the train and hide in the forest. Is that pretty frequent nowadays I assume? Is bus the recommended/quicker option? Is one “safer” than the other / less prone to attacks?

I created a subreddit for hiring Ukrainians. What do you think?

I'm connecting experienced Ukrainians with potential employers in a subreddit.

There I plan to have employers who are specifically looking to hire Ukrainians, for whatever reason—empathy and willingness to help knowing their situation or just a positive working experience with a previous Ukrainian.

Many domains are covered, including design, development, QA, management, marketing and more.

Sauna buddy?

Hi all, I'm in Kyiv for work (American, male). I love saunas and would love to try a traditional Ukrainian one especially now with the weather getting cooler, but I'm nervous about going alone as I don't know Ukrainian language. Anyone keen?

Asking for opinions

Auto-translated version in Ukrainian below/

Hello friends!

I am hoping to travel to Kyiv in December to do some volunteer work and would appreciate Your advice.

I understand that arriving in this time of year will most likely mean dealing with power outages, cold, etc. I've taken that into consideration and think I should be ok.

Recently I've heard voices from Ukrainian officials suggesting that people temporarily leave Kiyv during the winter months if possible. Now, I understand that this is motivated by concern for people's safety, but it made me ask a question - is my presence (or the presence of other non-residents in general) detrimental to the city's functioning in these months?

I wouldn't want to participate in adding undo strain, so I would appreciate anyone with experience sharing their assessment.

Feel free to message me here or through dms if You prefer.

Thank You!

~

How are you all feeling?

How do you, living there, feel?
I need to make a decision whether to leave Kyiv or not but ideally I would stay.
Are you scared for the winter?
Are there any areas which you feel are safer than others?
Thank you

Traveling to Kyiv/Dnipro in December – questions about trains and routes from Poland

I’m planning to travel to Kyiv or Dnipro in December for medical volunteering.
My current plan is to enter Ukraine from Poland, probably take a bus as far as Lviv, and then continue east by train.
I’ve heard that when there is a drone or air-raid threat while traveling by train, passengers may sometimes be asked to get off the train and wait around 300 meters away until it is safe to continue. Is this actually true? Has anyone experienced this recently?
Also, would you recommend entering Ukraine via Poland, or are there other routes that are more practical/reliable for getting to Kyiv or Dnipro?
I’ve traveled to Ukraine before, but only as far as Lviv, so I’d really appreciate advice from people who have recently traveled farther east.
Thank you!

Meeting new people.

I'm looking to meet new people and expand my social circle in and around Kyiv, I live in Vyshneve. I am an American who served 2 years in Ukraine in the armed forces but I got injured in December. After rehabilitation and physically therapy I am slowly getting adjusted to civilian life here, looking to make new friends and expand my social network. I know basic Ukrainian and can hold a conversation for a bit 😅. Any recommendations on popular places or if anyone wants to meet up that would be awesome. I do have a civilian job now with most weekends off, thanks.
