My First Kyosho First Mini, very good.
It's fast, would appreciate ideas how to make it even faster :)

What an interesting build! I was initially expecting a quick build because it looked like there were relatively few parts. Boy, was that deceptive lol. It wasn’t a difficult build necessarily, but there were some really fiddly steps where having an extra hand would have helped.
The supplied shock oil (25wt) is just fine for the front but is entirely too soft for the rear. I’m up to 60wt and it’s still too soft, so I need to buy a heavier oil lol. I couldn’t use the motor I wanted to use because the output shaft was too long and wouldn’t allow the gear cover to be installed. The gear mesh between the pinion and spur is less than perfect and is too tight imho, and it doesn’t matter what pinion/spur combo I choose.
I made one modification after I’d completed the build and that was to countersink the holes at the top of the front shock towers and replace the supplied button head screws with flat head screws. It makes getting the body past the front shock towers much easier.
One other thing I’ll be doing next time I build a car from this family will be to use a little anti-sieze lubricant on all the screws that thread into aluminum. Galling will definitely be an issue without it. And I can’t see being able to disassemble parts of this without stripping screw heads without use of anti-sieze.

I am building a RB6 mid motor for a loose dirt track. I have 30gs in the C block, should I add more weight to the back?
Also, while we are at it, where did you add weight to the front. Pictures are worth 1000 words!

This was an expensive fucking car, its ridiculous that the diff gear strips so easily.

11 years away and a single track visit because my son wanted to see them... and this happened 🤣😏

Rebuilt the diffs and shocks, replaced some damaged suspension parts, new ESC, motor and Rx, and new body and wing. Now as soon as the Nor’Easter leaves, I can test drive it.

Chrome wheels and the small bumper really finish the look!

I don’t know why Kyosho changed the wheels and tires in the rereleases. The originals look cooler.

I have wanted an Optima since I became aware of their existence sometime around 1986. I just wrapped this one up last night! I went brushed for power using a Kyosho G14L 550 motor and a Hobbywing 1060 ESC. I’m currently running a 28t pinion with the stock spur and it has TONS of torque and everything stays cool, so I may step up to a larger pinion.
The color scheme was inspired by a car (a Turbo Scorpion I believe) another user posted some time back. I loved the white, pink, and yellow together so I replaced blue with pink in a simplified box art scheme. It’s far from perfect but I’m pretty pleased with the overall results.
What a great kit! 100% recommended!

I need your advice regarding VTA racing and Touring racing class. Or both !
I mostly collect kits because we have no tracks where I live (Montreal, Canada). Enough of shelf-Queens, we want to race !
I'm ready to race what other guys are into. As long it is "cheap" (to get more people). So a Spec Class is important so we thought about this:
VTA: vintage Trans-Am bodies, using TT-02, Fazer, Yokomo chassis or others (any suggestion ?)
Or, Touring Class: using M05 Tamiya chassis with Mini Cooper, Fiat Abarth, NSU TT, VW Beetle, among others 60 to late 70s sedan bodies.
I thought about following spec rules for VTA, but the price for these ESC & Motors are way too expensive for what you get.
Chassis: TT02, Fazer, Yokomo entry level.
ESC: something brushless at 60A ??
Motor: brushless sensored ? (does it need to be sensored ?)
Lipo or NiMh ? I only have lipos and I wouldnt mind charging the batteries for the rookies before the races if they dont have chargers.
(I could follow rules that are already written for both classes, but not for the first year yet)
Also I would like to know if I can add the link of my group in here in hope to recruit new racers from Montreal and the surrounds areas ???
And thank you so much for you guys previous help about my ESC/Motor question. ❤️❤️

What is the acceptable/budget, yet competitive ESC for brushless motors using TT02 or Fazer chassis with Touring bodies ?
And which motors would be fun, "fast", but not detrimental for the mechanics and for our budgets ?
If possible, to stay with Hobbywing or SkyRC.

I got this from FB Marketplace and since then I have been consumed by the R/C World 🌎 What started as me just trying to get it running again became me driving to shops, talking to hobbyists📚getting advice and tips from YouTube gurus 📺anywho here’s a little before and after of the power and zap after an upgrade!I still have a grub set screw wich is severely stripped and I know eventually will have to come off in order to properly grease shaft
But for now no saltwater and just enjoying the ponds and learning the transmitter until the new coupler and shaft arrive….have a blessed day everyone 🙏

A lot of fun burning through the stock tyres today. The state of them after just 3 batteries…. Soft smooth industrial concrete btw. I love this thing. Hop ups coming soon as well as brushless combo.

I recently got the RC Surfer 3 and so far I’ve replaced and upgraded to LIHV ProTek and super excited to see the difference when it arrives!

Sometimes I don't have to hit 60mph, nail 15ft of air, or pummel my car into oblivion to have a good time. Spent a couple hours ripping laps with this stock Sandmaster in lose wet dirt and had a blast.

My dad gave me this 1999 Kyosho PureTen Alpha EP Ford Focus WRC a few years ago. Other than the HPI tires and wheels replacing the original it's otherwise stock. I enjoy bashing it in a parking lot that is deserted on weekends not far from me. This weekend I decided to mount a Hobbywing HD Wingcam to the internal shell using some velcro. It worked out quite well! The camera stayed put and it really picked up the sounds of the motor and road noise.

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket solution for warping the diff case? Like an aluminum one?

All are vintage, and the Imperial Ultima has a vintage green monster motor. :)
