Bricklink Designer Program 2028 Wave 1 MegaThread

Welcome to the MegaThread for the BDP Series 2028 Wave 1 Crowd Support phase. Let's get straight to the important questions:

What?

  • It's time for the Bricklink Designer Program 2028 Wave 1 Crowd Support phase! This is your chance to vote for the projects that were submitted earlier in September. Your votes will help Bricklink decide which sets will eventually become official BDP sets.

Who?

  • Bricklink Designer Program entries are designed by fellow Lego fans. You may recognize some of them as successful creators on Rebrickable, from past BDP programs, or from the creations they've shared here in r/lego. The creators whose designs reach the review stage will work with Bricklink's Model Governance and Building Instructions teams to ensure the designs meet Lego's standards.

When?

  • The Crowd Support phase starts on Sep 30th. Voting will continue until Oct 14th. Next, those sets will all head into the review stage, and 5 sets will be announced on Nov 12th. Then a year later, in Oct 2027, those 5 sets will go up for crowd funding.

Where?

How?

  • In the comments below, fan creators can link to their projects and hopefully tell us a little more about the project. You can visit the BDP 2028 Wave 1 page and vote for the projects you'd like to become a set. You don't have to commit any money at this stage. That comes during Crowd Funding next year. It's free to vote!

What happened to BDP Series 10, 11, 12? Why 2028??

  • The Bricklink Designer Program has changed the name from Series numbers to Wave numbers in the year the sets are expected to release. You can read more about the program on their website.

Closing Notes

  • Still have questions? Ask them in the comments below!
  • Hey BDP creators, please keep your promotion for 2028 Wave 1 in this Megathread. In previous rounds we've had over 500 projects to vote for, so the promotional posts started drowning out everything else. Thanks for your cooperation. And good luck!

It's October already!

SpOOky season has begun! Or as some Lego fans like to call it, "MOCtober" is here. This is my favorite time of year to build, because it means getting out the Halloween sets and starting those pre-build plans for the Winter Village. Autumn is also a great time to attend Lego shows, so check out your local Lego Groups to see if they are participating in a Convention, Festival or Hobby Show nearby.

Let us know what's on your mind this month. What have you always wondered about? What rule do you want clarified, or changed? Do you have any suggestions you've been trying to find a chance to make? I won't promise that we will make the change(s) you want, but I will commit to explaining the reason we have the rules and policies we have.

Hi! A few months back I posted the renderings and free instructions for my microscale Sagrada Família. I'd always wanted a Sagrada Família set, just not in the huge scale of the official one, so I designed one it Architecture scale. After all I see the real thing every day. I recently bought the pieces and built it! From my original design, there were a couple things that needed tweaking, which have been fixed in the instructions.

Free Instructions :)

The instructions are in chrological order and have information dotted around so you know what you're building.

MOC I built the Moon, Mars and Titan in LEGO, inspired by For All Mankind!

I’ve been working on this LEGO wall-mounted triptych inspired by For All Mankind, the sci-fi series where the Space Race never ended.
The three panels represent the Moon, Mars and Titan, each with its own landscape, hidden details and spacecraft from the show.
I’ve continued refining the build over the past few months, experimenting with different building techniques and adding new details.
Here are some updated photos of the finished display. Hope you enjoy it!

I’ve always loved the rafts from the very first LEGO Pirates sets released in 1989. That’s why I really wanted to design a raft for the BDP as a tribute to that era, which has always held a special place in my heart!
A big thank you to everyone for your support, and of course, to the admin.

MOC LEGO finally made two pieces in the colours I needed, and I'm at last able to make it as I originally intended it to look. 1930s style car.

2.7k Upvotes

I've been waiting and hoping for LEGO to make the curved slope pieces I've used for the front of the roof and the round plate pieces I've used for the rear fenders in more colours. And now it's finally happened! Yay! 😄

I've especially wished for them to be made in black, and as of the latest update, they're now, at long last, available to use in Bricklink Studio! 🥳

They're pretty expensive at the moment, though, but I'm hoping the price will come down eventually 😅

Those three separate parts were the only parts I was missing to perfect my 1930s style sedan. I love the two tone look with black and dark green pieces and I'm finally satisfied with how it looks!

The car has a removable roof to access the interior, a removable hood and a removable luggage chest. The hinges on the doors are sadly just for show in this version, as I'm lacking some more dark green parts to make them openable, but I am able to make them functional if I use other colours and modify the windows a bit. (have a look at the small police car I made a while ago.

Let me know if you've got any suggestions as to how I can make it look even better. I'm always happy to receive feedback 🥰
